Getting the Voters RegisteredSubmitted by elliotriley on Fri, 09/30/2011 - 10:15
I have an idea that I think will help our cause, if enough people can run with it. The best people to run with this are the meetup groups around America. If you have 20, 30, or 40 people I think you have the core to make this happen.
We all know that Dr. Paul’s lack of a showing in the last primary race was because many of his supporters were not correctly registered to vote in the republican primary. We also know, sadly, that the youth of this country are the least likely to actually vote. This is a fact. This means that we have to drive the right people to get registered and vote. This means the difference of a win and a loss, and there is a lot at stake.
I propose that meetup groups find venues that are popular to young people and hold small events around the country. You would advertise on college campuses, on community calendars, and through other means like Facebook. Make sure this venue has music and that the event is well organized. The types of venues that I’m thinking of are VFW halls, clubs, bars, Legion halls, etc. First, charge a small donation to enter (but don’t turn anyone away). This small donation of $5 or so would be donated to the Revolution PAC. You should state something to this effect. Since the main purpose of these events is not to spread the word, but to register people, a donation is very acceptable. The Revolution PAC would benefit and Paul supporters (as you can see from Money Bombs) are more than willing to donate. Once inside have beer available, maybe a band or DJ, and some fun events.
The main purpose, as previously stated, is to register these people. Get with the local county and have a table set up with forms for registering. This is VERY EASY to do. I’ve done it before and the coordination of this part of the event will actually be the easiest. Have a good speaker to motivate, have food, and get the group excited about voting republican.
Just a thought.
