Occupy Wall Street Now Has Formal Declaration with 22 Grievances

There is a declaration from those at “Occupy Wall Street on Facebook” , of whom are stating a Call to Action.

“As we gather together in solidarity to express a feeling of mass injustice, we must not lose sight of what brought us together. We write so that all people who feel wronged by the corporate forces of the world can know that we are your allies.

As one people, formerly… divided by the color of our skin, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or lack thereof, political party and cultural background, we acknowledge the reality: that there is only one race, the human race, and our survival requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their brethren; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known.

1. They have taken our houses through an illegal foreclosure process, despite not having the original mortgage.
2. They have taken bailouts from taxpayers with impunity, and continue to give CEO’s exorbitant bonuses.
3. They have perpetuated gender inequality and discrimination in the workplace.
4. They have poisoned the food supply, and undermined the farming system through monopolization.
5. They have continuously sought to end the rights of workers to negotiate their pay and make complaints about the safety of their workplace.
6. They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right.
7. They have consistently outsourced labor and used that outsourcing as leverage to cut workers’ healthcare and pay.
8. They have influenced the courts to achieve the same rights as people, with none of the culpability or responsibility.
9. They have spent millions of dollars on legal teams that look for ways to get them out of contracts in regards to health insurance.

So you were born with the right to take me as your slave?

"6. They have held students hostage with tens of thousands of dollars of debt on education, which is itself a human right."

Me being forced to pay your debt is now a human right? So you were born with the right to take me as your slave?

I don't think so. I say we serve justice on these OWS Communists and looters. They're hypocrites who have NO PROBLEM with the scams. What they want is the power those scams offer; the power to loot their neighbors.

Woe to the nation when this latter purpose prevails...

"Men naturally rebel against the injustice of which they are victims.

Thus, when plunder is organized by law for the profit of those who make the law, all the plundered classes try somehow to enter — by peaceful or revolutionary means — into the making of laws.

According to their degree of enlightenment, these plundered classes may propose one of two entirely different purposes when they attempt to attain political power: Either they may wish to stop lawful plunder, or they may wish to share in it.

Woe to the nation when this latter purpose prevails among the mass victims of lawful plunder when they, in turn, seize the power to make laws!

Until that happens, the few practice lawful plunder upon the many, a common practice where the right to participate in the making of law is limited to a few persons.

But then, participation in the making of law becomes universal. And then, men seek to balance their conflicting interests by universal plunder.

Instead of rooting out the injustices found in society, they make these injustices general. As soon as the plundered classes gain political power, they establish a system of reprisals against other classes.

They do not abolish legal plunder. (This objective would demand more enlightenment than they possess.) Instead, they emulate their evil predecessors by participating in this legal plunder, even though it is against their own interests.

It is as if it were necessary, before a reign of justice appears, for everyone to suffer a cruel retribution — some for their evilness, and some for their lack of understanding."

They coulda been something but have definitely chosen the wrong path. Now they totally lost my interest, not that I was particularly interested in them, anyway.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

Now, I do..

Now, I do love 'let's all be friends' speeches, but starting with words like "wronged by the corporate forces", "members", "our system", "our rights" comes off as usual, socialistic. It looks to be the same ol' thing from the occupy movement. Ignoring the real big problem (Government) and going after the middle men (business owners).

Let me get this straight... You want the fascist government that gave those corporate fascists more power to take away that power? HA! That's like telling your boss that they're fired LOL

Get in line and heil Obama, while the real freedom fighters get stuff done.

All seem to have been approved by Congress or the Executive.

Whole protest smells like rotten fish.

Free includes debt-free!

We've got basically nothing in common with this group

#2 and #11 are the only common ground, possibly including #22. #19 is close but it leaves me asking a lot of questions. Some of them Others are simply outrageous-- particularly number 6 which is just defies all logic whatsoever. Some of them aren't even bad things, like #7 and #9.

Yes, I

am aware there is a very long thread about Occupy Wall Street. This Declaration is something new; I did a Daily Paul search--didn't see it posted, so I started a thread on it.
As far as that goes, many times I start a thread, it falls off the page and later on one or more people will start the same thread. It happens.

I can't find it

I looked on the FB page, but I can't find this information anywhere.

Lots on information floating around, I've been covering this for a while and would like to find its original source.

When I click on the

link to facebook (first line at the truthdenied link), it takes me to that facebook page. I found it by scrolling down about 1 3/4". It was posted yesterday at 1:22 PM. Hope this information helps you find it.

For all issues in general,

For all issues in general, but with this protest in particular, I am very skeptical of the information that is being posted. I've seen such a wide range of claims as to the who the protesters are and what they believe, so clearly so of the information is in error and/or put out to misinformation people

Thanks, I searched and found

Thanks, I searched and found it at the official site, the only difference was the last part about Davis, strange.

There seems to be a lot of accusations, but

nothing founded in a court of law. To persue Wallstreet requires more than conjecture, inuendo, and unvented legal process and more than just anger.

Sorry I am not defending Wallstreet but rather defending the American LAW process. To enrage without due process would go against all we here stand for. It would not be American.
It sounds foreign to me, as if it is part of deception.

oh boy. seems like the

oh boy. seems like the communists want all their "rights". Ron Paul is the cure, too bad most of them will never get it.

They just do not get the message because

they are not of us.

I have

very mixed feelings about the whole thing. I agree with some of the grievances but many seem to have a socialist agenda. I do want We the People to unite, no matter our beliefs--unite under those things we do agree upon--and worry about the other stuff later.
However, something about this whole thing just feels wrong. Whether it was a set-up from the beginning, or has been hijacked, or whether agent provocateurs will be used to incite violence and perhaps even further erode our right to peaceably assembly...something about it just doesn't sit well with me. I hope I am wrong!

Canadian anarcho-socialists

Canadian anarcho-socialists are the root of the problem... that, and the fact that most of the 'movement' is addled with aimless unemployed students.

I hope so ,too

If it remains peaceful, then I will be less concerned with what message is being taught. More power to them if they can keep it so. If not, I hope the other demonstrators will have the ability, numbers and unity to nip any violence in the bud themselves.
