Ron Paul Separating Facts from Myths

Texas Congressman Ron Paul gets labeled by the media quite often and I will try to separate the facts from the myths about this Republican presidential hopeful. I had the pleasure of meeting Paul about a week ago, and spent some time learning more about him before, during, and after that visit.

Ron Paul is Anti-Disaster Relief?

Myth. Just shortly before meeting Paul, the top story running was that he doesn't care enough about people to fund FEMA for disaster relief. My research showed he is against FEMA (the large, wasteful federal agency), though he isn't against helping people in need. Labeling someone who is against FEMA as someone who is against helping people is like labeling someone who is against playing the lottery as someone who must be against being wealthy. It's true that the lottery has made many millionaires, just as FEMA has helped a lot of people in need, but at what level of efficiency? Paul believes FEMA is no more efficient at disaster relief as the lottery is at making you a likely millionaire. Instead greater efficiencies can be achieved at the state level of disaster relief.

I had written to Yahoo about the biases shown by the wire services (AP, etc.) reporting on Ron Paul's standing in the race, and they responded that they were working on getting news from more sources and open to suggestion.

This article (op-ed?) is apparently supplied by one of the alternative sources.

Journalism may yet survive. I wonder if the original piece was longer.

I wish it was a bit more neutral-sounding, but what can you do when the candidate always tells the truth?

haha, I don't know how a "Fact vs myth" article on Ron Paul could come across sounding neutral!
