Gathering the Grassroots in Iowa

I've got a few more meet-ups scheduled in Iowa to sync up the grassroots supporters with the official campaign. The effort is to find precinct leaders to speak on behalf of Ron Paul at the local caucuses and to organize phone banking for voter identification (and then door-to-door resource spreading...i.e. lawn signs).

Des Moines Oct. 6th: http://www.meetup.com/PCI-CFL/events/35601982/

Ames Oct. 13th: http://www.meetup.com/Ron-Paul-2012-Ames/events/35954712/

Go on facebook and tell your friends in Iowa, that if they haven't gone to a meet-up yet they should attend one of these. We can give them direction for the next 3 months on how to best help out the campaign.

My efforts in Iowa will be recorded in my next entry of "The Ron Paul Road Warrior": http://freeindependentsun.com/republic/the-tour-to-end-the-w...

What is your best estimation

of Paul's support there, in Iowa? I know how important it is to do well, there. An actual win would be awesome.

Here's a good indication

Saw a guy running with a Ron Paul shirt.

One of the guys I've stayed with (couchsurfing) was pretty pro-Paul. At a coffee shop right now and this girl was expressing her frustration with Obama so I handed her a RP hand-out.

I think people out here a little more reserved about talking politics with strangers. In Colorado people were gung-ho and chatting it up at bars and restaurants.

All the press I've been seeing however seems to say we have a good chance at winning, just need to keep organizing and moving forward.

I wouldn't give Colorado too

I wouldn't give Colorado too much credit. Did you see this?:

$250 ticket, I think people were putting their resources into the Ames straw poll at the same time.

The guy who does "ronpaulflix.com" is out in Boulder helping organize a college group.

You can read more of my experience in Colorado in my article: http://freeindependentsun.com/republic/the-tour-to-end-the-w...

Denver is also where "Liberty on the Rocks" was born. There is a lot of potential out there.

I'm a member

of the first meetup group you have listed, but I've never been to a meetup group event (joined too late last time around). I'm not available this Thursday though -- would it be worthwhile to go to one of the Ames ones instead? I've been helping out at the campaign office too, so not sure if this would be any new/beneficial info for me?? Thanks!

Maybe you can help organize future DSM Meet-Ups

One of the things I wanted to get going this Thursday was future meet-ups so new people can meet with other supporters. I'm leaving the state on the 24th (heading to South Carolina).

I think it's pretty important to keep a weekly (or bi-weekly) meet-up going in Des Moines until the Caucus. Hopefully I'll find someone in Ames to do the same.

I'll message you.

Can someone give us some

Can someone give us some feedback on the progress in Iowa and how people are responding to Paul?

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

It's pretty low-key out here.

Don't find myself getting a lot of opinions, people are pretty reserved about their politics. So far though, from those I've met and talked to, people are understanding of why I'm out here.

We'll see how many people show up to the rest of these meet-ups.

You scheduled an event

on Tuesday, October 18 in Ames. Just want to let you know that there's a CNN debate that night beginning at 8 pm ET.

Thanks for the heads up

I usually just watch the RP clips after it's over, hopefully a couple people still show up. We can probably stream the debate while we meet.

Way to go guys!

Iowa and New Hampshire are soooooo important for Ron Paul. Early successes in these two States will get our good Dr. front and center for sure. Last election, they were able to keep the Paul campaign squashed after early feeble support. I think it's going to be different this year. I bet a lot of Bachmann straw poll support now tunes in on Ron Paul. I'd sure like to think so.

Hey Jack

Here is a bump to promote your positive activism and to let you know that I just checked out your website. The permaculture video library is quite nice ...got wrapped up there for a while. Thanks!

Thanks Dave!

I'm actually heading to a couple Permaculture farms for the winter (South Carolina and Florida) - hope to meet with Ron Paul folks while I'm there as well.
