RealClear Politics caught in the act of distorting Ron Paul's Poll Numbers

I got copied on this e-mail that Joe Sansone sent to RealClear politics:

Ron Paul is at 11% in this poll with Palin and Christie out of it. You are using everybody else's numbers without Palin and Christie, except Paul. You are using 9% for him which is his number with Palin and Christie. This does not appear to be the first time this has happened on your site where Paul's numbers have been shown as less than they are because you have used polls with non candidates for publishing his numbers but published other candidates numbers without using the non candidates included. I have sent this information to the Drudgereport and blind copied other news organizations in hopes that someone brings attention to it.

This posting is incorrect.

This posting is incorrect. The poll numbers listed on Real Clear Politics are the same ones listed in the poll under the "without Christie/Palin" section. Please don't irritate Real Clear Politics, needlessly. I'm sure it's an honest mistake but let's try to correct it now please folks.

I don't know. Poll numbers

I don't know. Poll numbers aren't great. He was at 14% in the Gallup Poll a month or two ago. So, he is down 3%, according to this poll.

I would imagine that Perry and Romney have a 10% supporter base that won't move. The problem with Paul is the complete inability to pick-up the other voters. Paul has a solid 10% maybe 15% base and that is it. The others have around the same base but pick-up "undecideds".

Paul could have more support but these people are too lazy and apathetic at this point in the game to ever make a difference in the primary. Most of my friends and family are like this... they just don't really want any involvement until it becomes the popular thing to talk about which won't happen until leading-up to the GE - way to late to get the nomination.

My reply from RCP

Paul, you and others are mistaken. RCP uses registered voter numbers over general population numbers when they are avaliable.

We entered the CORRECT numbers today. They are clearly visable on the wash post url.

They are the RV #s w/o christie and palin.

I think the data is from the

I think the data is from the poll of registered voters. The 11% figure is from likely Republican voters (I'm not sure why exactly someone who isn't registered would be considered a likely voter, I guess if they plan on registering, they count). Cain and Perry are both at 16% in the likely voters, but are at 17% in the registered category, which is the one listed

Either Way

Either way you look at it, they're still manipulating the results to make Ron Paul look as though he isn't a "Top Tier" candidate. They are scared to death of him, for obvious reasons.
