Get it together grassroots! We need to influence the debate of OWS

Call me crazy.. but I see a bunch of misguided souls. Im honestly disappointed that the DP community is so condescending of a movement that hasnt even found a leader yet. It doesnt matter if it was crafted by Koch, Micheal Moore or Mary effin Poppins. The point is these folks are pissed. They are out of work. They are looking for answers. Their demands??? Who gives a sh!t about one guy that is trying to herd cats around a retarded message? That 'leaderless group' has a message??? NO!!! They have some dude that is half ass representing them. Get 50 Paul supporters down there and see what happens.

Ron Paul and the message of Liberty represents the truth. I'm sorry if my message angers anybody. Getting a dose of reality can do that.

For us not to take it upon ourselves and infiltrate this movement as operatives for Ron Paul is outright foolish. Lindsey Graham, the closet case from SC and huge supporter of any lobbyist with enough money fears 'an unholy alliance of left and right.'

http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?255445-Lindsey-G...

If we do not take advantage of this opportunity it is to our own fault.

People looking for leadership will respond to the truth. Ron Paul said it best on the Daily Show. An 'explosion of interest' is coming. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrJn4tAiTRA Our grassroots, instead of being condescending, should respect tolerance, believe in the message... and spread it. 'It is up to you to spread this message.' Ron Paul

Im no prophet. I have made alot of money understanding where I was at a certain time in a local market. This is a chance for us to make Lindsey Grahams nightmare a damn reality. Id pay lots of money to give that *sshole nightmares.

If you choose to condemn this idea.. May I put you to a litmus test? Contact one OWS protester and report your findings after engaging them. It is my belief that Ron Paul supporters understand the monetary system, our Constitution and have the brightest minds on the ground working for Ron Paul. We need allies. Best example here: http://youtu.be/uZmPWcLQ1Mk

We should not create enemies, but engage debate. The minute we shut an opposing side down with 'Im better than you' our fight has lost. It does not matter if you are correct, if you cannot sway opinions, the cause is lost. Instead... PLEASE.. Work like Sun Tzu. We can defeat our enemy by proving our ideas are the best ideas and influencing the minds looking for leadership. We do not need to look for a fight, but do our best to influence their beliefs.

This is our moment to bridge a gap with olive branches and intelligence. I dont expect anyone to agree with me.. but please tell me why this logic will not help Ron Paul.

-sidenote-
Lee Atwater did amazing things for GOP that had never been accomplished before. He was a liar, a thief and the worst kind of scumbag ever... But he won. There is no prize for second place. Ask a bearded Al Gore.. http://youtu.be/9UwJYfTC9Hw

If we think like Lee Atwater in the cause for the truth we can win. This is politics.. dont expect a fair fight.

Thank you DP Community!

This is proof positive of why I love this community so much. Even with my poor grammar and couple cuss words, my rant was able to stimulate an awesome debate. Thanks to everybody that has contributed.

Direction Needed in OWS.

In my opinion many supporters of OWS are basically right in the core of their complaint. However they lack understanding in the banking system and the way the "Establishment" right and left are bought and paid for by the banking cartel. They are expressing anger at big corporations but if 50 or so of us go to each rally and educate them on how the Federal Reserve is the root cause of the very thing they hate.

I may not agree with all of their positions, however if they can see the basic cause for their anger is the Federal Reserve. Then i think they will be open to receive Ron Paul's message. We need to educate them that Ron Paul is the only one who wants to abolish the Federal Reserve, end the wars (many in that group hate wars), let them live their lives as they see fit etc. I confident many will rally behind Ron Paul.

will it help in getting the Republican nomination ?

In my opinion, just check whether what you are doing is going to help RP get the Republican nomination. Do u think there are enough libertarians or liberals there who would like to and would vote for RP in the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY ?
if not, then focus on those registered voters who are on the fence and looking for someone to vote for. that is what we need now.
If and when RP gets the Republican nomination, then we can reach out to these people.

I completely agree. Neocons co-opted the Tea Party. We ought to co-opt the Occupy movement. This is a perfect opportunity to bring people to our side.

Attended 1st OWS meeting, too

For those against the group, I recommend going to one first before judging (it certainly changed my perspective).

YES they are mostly leftists and novices, BUT I felt no less comfortable or awkward than I did when going to our early tea party meetings.

TEA is half social conservatives and half libertarian.
OWS can become half leftists and half libertarian.
A strong foothold in both groups means one full libertarian movement.

I spoke about the Fed and how they were the real target rather than the big banks and many agreed.

Competition is a good thing and (done correctly) a situation can be created where TEA and OWS compete to expose the Fed better than the other group. Apple and Microsoft competing skyrocketed the evolution of the PC.

No, I don't agree with the socialist views expressed at the OWS meeting. But neither do I agree with the "Hooray! We got Al-Alaki! Gotta get them Iranians, next!" views by many in my local tea group.

Competitive Coexistence is the solution - it worked for the Founders who were bitterly divided, but united in their opposition to central banks. We can do the same now.

How to Help Rand End the TSA - TSA Agents pose potential public health threat. Support Dr. Burzynski's Cancer Cure

Not to mention...

This is exactly RP's philosophy on building alliances on common issues.

A good point is made that time spent with OWS is time not spent promoting RP's campaign and RP certainly is the top priority.

Personally, I can handle doing both and OWS members making the Fed an issue will create that many more people talking about the Fed. Strength in numbers and this EXACTLY the way to get out of the feed back loop of constantly preaching to the choir regarding RP's views on the Fed.

I just got back from my first OWS meeting.

and well, ya know, I have not seen that much tye dye in a longtime. the people I met, were absolute political novices,
much worse than I was when starting out.
I brought along 8 silver quarters, and a silver certificate.
for "show and tell" that worked pretty well.
from what I could tell, it would not be very hard to hijack this group.
I think that is what got Alex's attention.
the word "democracy" was used a lot. and spoken of in a positive fashion. do you really think they know what it means? or it's history?
methinks.....not!
this time I was nice, when I go to the next meeting? I will be wearing my "ask me about Ron Paul" shirt.

and your pussy ass bailed. I believe in free speech and love to exercise it on weak, retarded, pussies just like".

This is from one of the early members of Daily Paul (original poster of this thread), along with a lot more like it.

As a Christian, I know that this type of behavior is unexecusable, and that "with an angry man go not". Proverbs 22:24.

My family has donated to Daily Paul. One of us has been a member since last election, while I use to use Ron Paul Forums, but family got me to come over here.

There is only a few very vocal supporters of this occupation (nice name?) on Daily Paul. That is the reason you see all the cussing and abusive behavior to the *many* people who keep offering reasons over and over again not to do this. (check the end of this thread for examples). Don't let them use abusive and unfair tactics to make it seem they are more than they are.

I don't encourage anyone to leave Daily Paul, because that would just let non-Paul people use the site as a way to organize for other things than getting Ron Paul elected as president of the United States.

*However* as far as me, Ron Paul forums is providing a lot more information on how to actually get involved in Ron Paul getting elected. Including a post on the front page today on how to actually get involved in Ron Paul's campaign. I encourage you to see it. It make be see where the actual activists for Ron Paul are.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

I'm re-evaluating

whether I belong here on this site anymore.

And I think that means that I don't belong here.

Don't leave Big T

You have so much insight to offer everyone. I just got here, but saw it immediately. Not everyone here has been following Ron Paul as long as you or me, to know the platform and signs of infiltration. I must say that the OWS issue seems to somehow have drawn a line in the sand.

why?

this OWS thing?

or the tone of the newbies?

Occupy the occupiers? or not?

That is the question. Our numbers certainly overshadow 'their' numbers, but it only takes a few to make everybody look bad. Do we ALL jump in, or ignore it and hope it fizzles? If we decide to jump in... maybe a TRUE list of demands (repeal Patriot act, legalize competition with gold and silver, Pass the American Traveler Dignity Act, end the drug war, etc) Take that true list, and get everyone to DC where CNN is covering the OW[L]S protest live.

I don't know, there's risk either way. What do you guys think?

Me Thinks

I will know the truth Saturday, seeing is believing!
As of now, my "opinion" is this movement is real and we need to join in the protest and educate the kids and try and talk sense to them and sway them. Common sense tells me there's no way all these folks are commies and socialist. I think this is a real revolution starting and we need to get involved before someone DOES take it over....

For those of you who don't know

Or care either way:

The latest Pew poll reported that only 7% of American households know who Paul is. All those people in middle America who don't pay attention to politics and who don't watch the news aren't going to notice a couple of extra RonPaul signs on tv footage or YouTube. But they are going to vote, and a lot of them are going to vote for who they're familiar with.

Ron Paul didn't really say whether he needs us to go protest or not yet. But he did say that the most important thing we could do was to pick ip our phones and call people.

http://www.dailypaul.com/181737/phone-from-home-project-upda...

Just an idea for the people who won't or can't go to these protests or who just don't care.

Ron Paul 2012!

Some good points here about OWS

But what about Alex Jones Occupy The Fed movement?
I plan on going to that one with my son here in Houston.
Am i supposed to just leave if OWS is there or try and educate them and sway some our way?
Personally, even if the OWS movement is ran by Soros do you think all those folks know that? I highly doubt it. I don't know, as with everything else in this world i'm starting to get disillusioned once again . Seems nothing is real anymore, not even elections. I'm to the point where i'm about to just say screw it and let God sort it out. To much energy wasted. Why should i give up my right to peacefully assemble and protest because someone else with different beliefs is there?

Occupy the Fed Movement

While this will inspire many, winning over your friends will win many times more! Do not lose hope: Endure. Heck, George Washington endured imeasurable hardships against the odds (maybe 1000 to 1 or more) and he prevailed by Divine Providence. And yes, do indeed let God sort it out:

Dan_4:17- " This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will..."

My Friends

are already Paul supporters...lol His district is right next to mine....I'm going to the occupy Saturday regardless what people think. If the Opposition is there we will just have to get along and share ideas. I'm not gonna buy in to the idea that all these thousands of people around the country are commies and socialist. To me they look more like misguided children with no real direction more than anything...

New Friends

Perhaps you should make more friends: Not all of mine are Ron Paul supporters. When that happens I will have to get more aquainted with others!

lol

My friends i can probably count on 2 hands and 2 feet, that's it. Don't do facebook so i have real friends, not cyber friends. Like i said, i'm going Saturday. Jones will be there around noon. When i get home i will report back what i saw. I wont be staying past dark as i have a 15 year old son going with me. Some of these guys in here seriously needs to see a doctor for their paranoia lol
I'm one of the good guys fellas, quite with the paranoid crap, its really starting to get on my nerves. Some in here may very well be doing what you say fellas, but that isn't me. I don't know what the heck i could do to prove it to you. I'm a big ol boat racing TEXAS redneck ..NO lefty here...lol Youtube is Yort696969..figure it out and quit making assumtions directly or indirectly...

OWS

We don't need to join these misfits to win. What, is this, Saul Alinski all over again? Here is what we must do: we tell people the truth, and like Ron Paul we must be meek and respectful about it. If Ron Paul thought this was the way, he would be down there right now protesting with these misguided people. Why do you think he does not?

Enlightenment was a Revolution of Rationalism, not this stuff. In the end, it will only do harm to our cause if we co-opt or join them indiscriminately. Instead, we must talk to our friends within our circle of life and convince them of the truth. Hanging with these socialistic misfits will only harm our cause. Give the people(our friends) well reasoned logic and facts, and eventually their emotions will follow. Heck, this is what I have done with my friends at work, and I have won over half of them and I'm working on the other half! If everyone talks to their work collegues and friends, as well as family members, victory will be inevitable! My wife is a Ron Paul supporter, and do you know why? Because I talked to her about him and won her over! And now there is one more Puerto Rican who believes in the Constituion and Liberty! She in turn has won even more of her friends (Puerto-ricans and others (some of whom are also my friends in facebook now).

What, would we try to do what the Republicans did with clueless Tea Party members? Is this how the R3volution began? No way!

Let's not forget to be nice. Brings to mind the lady who impersonates Sarah Palin, who was at the recent Orlando Debate/Straw Poll. She said I really like Ron Paul's ideas, but those fans:those fans are something else! After she had said this I apologized for them, and made up some ground for some of our less considerate ones(I've been guilty of the same)and shared the message of Liberty and the Constitution: the message of Ron Paul. Suddenly, Ron Paul became someone with a new face, and that face was little ole me. Who knows, maybe she will vote Ron Paul in 2012-maybe not, but at least he had a face of kindness she could associate him with. You see, it is friendship that will win them over; even if they are dumber than a box of rocks (no, she was not dumb)!

Talk to the people in your sphere of influence: This is the proven way to win! And before I forget: Be nice!

The more videos of this i see..

the more disturbing it is. These particular guys don't like Ron Paul.

people like that

don't count. This guy was the epitome of d-bag.

"I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove."

Socialism vs. capitalism

Main problem is diluting the issues. Now everyone is talking about socialism vs. capitalism, liberty vs. solidarity, and similar topics so broad that they lead to nowhere. Ron Paul depicted two main problems: the Fed, and the wars. Fed is a cartel of bankers that should not exist. It rules, and, consequently, it is responsible for the current mess. Wars are immoral and costly, they are bad. Everything else is dilution and detraction most probably produced by these rare ones, but rich ones, who profit from the Fed and the wars.

Speaking of dilution, I personally would be the happiest person if Ron Paul would become the President of USA, but I do not agree with him about everything. Healthcare is important to people, people can be free and responsible for themselves. But, if they are sick, the society must be there to support them. People who are seriously ill, or have genetic illnesses have to be protected according to some rules set by laws. Secondly, when private, big infrastructures and natural resources are most often owned by monopolies or cartels. This can be worse than to have these resources owned by the government, because the private companies do not have the obligation to be transparent as the government does.

Anyways, in my opinion, struggling about socialism versus capitalism amounts to nothing. Problems should be resolved one by one within a reasonable framework with the set of principles. I do not see why solidarity and liberty would exclude each other? Both sound pretty good. And the main two problems to be resolved next are definitely the Fed, and the wars. This is the main strength of Ron Paul, that he has the right focus.
