Obama Administration orders all California medical-marijuana outlets to close

"Federal prosecutors in California are threatening to shut down medical marijuana dispensaries throughout the state, sending letters to warn landlords to stop sales of the drug within 45 days or face the possibility that their property will be seized and they will be sent to prison."

"The stepped-up enforcement appears to be a major escalation in the Obama administration’s bid to rein in the explosive spread of medical marijuana outlets that was accelerated by the announcement that federal prosecutors would not target people using medical marijuana in states that allow it."

This is a campaign trick that may very well backfire depending on who the GOP puts up against Obama. He's hedging his bets that Romney will be his opponent. He will still carry the pot smokers vote.

But...put him against Ron Paul, and a whole big chunk of the Democrats base looks very shaky.

The GOP has to take notice, they can steal a good 20% of the Democratic votes if they simply can beat him to the punch. If Dr. Paul is our candidate, the GOP would win California, hands down.

I have not seen a raid yet that didn't at least involve the local law enforcement as backup or perimeter security or crowd control. Do you really think that the feds can do raid on dispensaries without the local sheriff. How many agents do you think would be involved? I'm not saying that it would never happen, I'm just saying that they would have a hell of a time doing a raid without any support from local Leos. Now don't get me wrong if I was the local sheriff I would probably either have them escorted out of my county at gun point if necessary or arrested if they tried to resist or reenter the county, but you will never see a local sheriff do this (at least not in California). However the sheriff not assisting is a very real possibility and very practical. Start writing your local sheriff, send them books by sheriff Mack, make friends with your local sheriff, convince them that they don't have to do what the feds say (most sheriffs will think that they have to go along with it).

When the feds show up bust them and give them a tour and a stay at the local county jail.

Brown was all for Oaksterdam, he's from Oakland. The shops he's going after are those who deal outside the Oaksterdam collective. Over the past 5 weeks, during harvest time in The Emerald Triangle, we've had two high profile murders on private property, that ended in an assassination by Sheriffs of a local boy, parents claimed was mentally ill, and yet he evaded the manhunt for a month, while they went through back yards.

Democrats here were split over Obama. Brown is a Hillary, Gore fan, not Obama. This is a smackdown on Obama, making him the bad guy for THEIR part in the war on marijuana.

When are we going to learn the lessons of our past? We made beer illegal in the 1920s, and it only made gangs and mobsters rich.

If we were to arrest EVERY DRUG LORD IN AMERICA AND MEXICO, we would still have the same problem because the demand is NEVER going to dissapear. Every society in the world used some form of drugs. It's part of human nature.

Also, state, local, and federal goverments could make TONS of money from taxing drugs. The last time I checked, they could use some extra cash!

Gov't also makes a ton of money putting non-criminals(anyone that has not infringed upon the life liberty or property of another) into the prison system. Well over 80% of the people arrested yearly in this country have not hurt another individual they just broke some useless corporate code or statute.

California had an election last year to legalize, and it failed huge, because Californians want Decriminalization, the State and Feds want Legalization AKA Commercialization, so they can make us their slaves.

First they came for the medical marijauna users, but I was not a user...

I hope those of you saying you want legalization understand what you are saying. Should tomato plants be legalized next?

I think that medical schtuff is a weasely cop-out.

We need total legalization, period. Strike down the drug war in its entirety. Yes, even heroin - as he said at one of the debates I saw, he looked at the audience and asked, "If heroin were legalized tomorrow, how many of you would suddenly go out and start taking heroin?" Uncomfortable silence ensued, perhaps a nervous titter here and there.

In the interim, I fear we're in for an escalation of another of Obama's wars.

This has to do with Obamacare!

Obama is trying to ready his case for sending troops in to states that don't enforce the Obamacare mandate and this is the beginning of that move. If California is smart, they'll defy any and all order, reiterating their right as a state to regulate Marijuana. They would also deploy law enforcement and/or local guard to defend these businesses and/or do not carry out any attempts by the federal government to steal their property.

Chances are though, they'll give in. Because California is made up of nanny staters.
