CBS Writes Unconscionable Hit Piece In Covering Ron Paul's Victory - Our Boycott in Response

This is truly pathetic. It is about as low as we've seen one of the major networks stoop in their coverage of Dr. Paul--and this isn't even TV coverage (which, compared with the online content is usually the worse of the two). Note how ridiculously baseless the charges are and the inflammatory headline (trending # 3). Also notice that they even resorted to such shameless tactics as picking out a one-line, incoherent sentence from Dr. Paul--a complete departure from the usual standards of respectable journalism, where a journalist either inserts brackets [eg, 'any more', in this case)] or simply takes license to correct grammatical errors (which are frequently encountered in any verbal dialogue) which look awkward writing.

I have to say, this is so unconscionable (& infuriating) that we should organize some sort of organized boycott in response, not only for this but other similar smears (which will only pick up in the coming months). Maybe something along the lines of writing & announcing a boycott of various networks (or individual reporters), at least for a limited time. Perhaps we could even play one media outlet off another--one network (say MSNBC, with allies like Dylan Ratigan) just might give in & report a story about about a competitor (say CNN) being boycotted by all of Paul Nation for unbalanced coverage (especially when it's so blatant!). We'd have to create a site with a few hundred thousand names (think of our 500K+ Facebook fans) for it to really deliver a punch, but it could work. The site could list the obvious examples, which would be embarrassing for the network if publicized with analysis.

I didn't used to think writing networks & complaining about coverage did much, but if we organized & had an overwhelming email backlash in addition to a group boycott it could really make them reevaluate their behavior.

We can't always depend on Stewart to point this trash out (as a side note, someone ought to send this to him). We need to start taking names and holding them accountable.

What if we....

Composed a generic letter which could be sent to cable and satellite providers demanding a package which Excludes all news programs. If they can bundle HBO, Showtime, or sports packages, then they can give us everything but the news. If we don't get it by such and such a date, we we will cancel our coverage altogether. Hit the providers!

I wouldn't recommend visiting

I wouldn't recommend visiting their site to read the article. Why give people like that link revenue. Look, I just found the article on pastebin.com. Just head over there to read the article and ignore CBS all together:

http://pastebin.com/YXqyTA7c

So

don't visit the sites that are speaking out against Dr.Paul and spreading lies and propaganda? Just ignore them and they'll go away I guess.

Hey, maybe if we close our eyes real tight, all of our troubles will vanish.

Anyone who wants to steer clear of these sites and think that's a good move should have their head examined.

I don't like the bullshit anymore than anyone else does but there are minds waiting for us everywhere. If we say nothing in rebuttal on these sites, they get to say whatever they want, unchecked.

To think of all the new impressionable political people who might be looking around for info and still don't realize that MSM is doing a snow-job on them, that we should all vanish and not set things right?

That to me is just as scary as anything they could be doing to try and stop us. Hell we'd be helping them along.

Who owns more CBS stock? War, Inc. or Big Ag?

Answer that question, and you'll understand why the MSM commits unparalleled fraud in reporting on Dr. Paul and his success with average, ordinary, normal, non-elitist people.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

All the more reason

we should take the fight to them on every blog, mainstream site, show up at their production locations, email them and any other way we can come up with to make them take notice.

We must make our voices heard. Even if the deck is stacked against us, we are gaining ground and the more we push, the more that we will.

You are over reacting

The reporter is reporting based on what was told to them by the straw poll organizers, name mentioned "Perkins". That is where your anger should be focused, if at all. You won't win the hearts and minds of the news media by attacking the news media. I can't imagine Ron Paul saying or suggesting the actions which you are suggesting. Turn all that energy towards stuffing the poll that matters. Stuff the primaries with votes for Ron Paul!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIyss2K40Yc

Ron Paul is my President.

Not. Reporters choose what to cover and how.

The propaganda from Perkins was used in order to draw a picture, but it was the 'reporter' that drew that picture.

One more time...

for those who don't understand. The mainstream media is nothing more than propaganda for the establishment criminals that have had total control of our nation and others for a very long time. Boycotts will never work because the money from ads is nothing compared to the astronomical wealth made from wars, banking scams, prohibition of drugs and the prison industry. We need to know the enemy if we ever want to defeat them. These "news" stations are fake left and fake right, with the purpose of dividing and conquering the American public. Seems to have worked for now.

I have to chuckle to myself

whenever someone finaly see's how controlled the media is in this country and becomes angry and frustrated and decides we need to boycott "them". I am tired of trying to explain what is really happening in this country. You have done a very good job, R-Double. I will leave it in your capable hands!

Well we could boycott WATCHING them and get others to do the

same. If they don't command people's attention, their influence goes away. How about boycotting them as a legitimate source of information, since they are only pretending to be one ?

I useually do the same thing

I useually do the same thing at Republican functions. I there is anyone worth listening to I stay, otherwise why stick around and listen to BS. Sometimes I bring my BS Protectors. It's a pair of paper ears that slip over my ears and it has printed Bullshit Protectors on them. I only take them off when Ron Paul speaks or someone is speaking for him.

This is about the most ridiculous fucking thing I've heard.

Stop getting played people. Sure boycott these news groups and they'll write stories about how his support has waned.

If not intentionally misleading, it's downright irresponsible.

i agree

I have read both articles on this subject, the one on CBS and this one and my take on this is to concentrate the most on promoting Ron Paul with every friend and family member and contact that we might have to bring them on board so we have even stronger showings at these polls and in the primaries and the general election when we vote for Ron for President. I do see the bias and do want to hold accountable all those responsible but the best way may be to insure that Ron is elected no matter what they do. Then what are they going to say? This is truly a monumental battle and we are against some big players and the odds may be stacked but every day we need to bring another person or many more with us. I agree that both these unscrupulous organizations need to be held accountable but don't waste too much time with this because there are more important things to attend to.

I put two comments on this

I put two comments on this story at CBS last night and I was like number 221 or 222. Funny, today it only has 236 comments. They were coming like wildfire yesterday. I could be wrong but I doubt only 15 or 16 more responses showed up by this afternoon.

Looks like the title changed

Hey guys, I think boycotting may be too extreme.

It looks like they changed the title of the article. It now says "Values Voter straw poll organizers suggest a fix in Ron Paul's win"

I wouldn't be too hard on Lindsey, if it is CBS that makes the titles. The article seems to be rather fair.

Good job on getting the title fixed. But maybe we need to focus our energies elsewhere.

YES! We need something like...

Thanks for the heads up!

I remember seeing that site once long ago. You're right that it doesn't have traction because people aren't involved. Media stunts like this one should get people on board with that site though, we just need to get it out there & people will join. I'll add it to the post.

On another note, take a snark pill bro! Cheers!

Snark Pill?

So, how do we get people involved?

I can do the tech part - but I really have little clue what it takes to get people to save their own lives. It's as if they are too stupid to see the blatantly obvious.

I can point out the danger. I can tell them what will work. And there's no denying that a few tens of thousands of contacts would get us what we want - but people persist in doing NOTHING. (Well, they do surf the web and complain on the DailyPaul - I should have said "nothing useful".) Something tells me they'll wish they had acted when the economy collapses, they can't find food and they're subject to martial law.

And this is simple: Do you think there's an advertiser in the Country that wouldn't sit up and SCREAM if they got 50,000 emails/letters/phone calls in ONE WEEK complaining about their sponsorship of unfair coverage (and promising to boycott their product FOR LIFE unless changes were made immediately)?

There are millions of Ron Paul "supporters" - and this approach to forcing fairness in media is simple, cheap and can be done in minutes per week per person.

So what does it take to get people to WAKE UP!

(See, even the people who are "awake" to Ron Paul are asleep to how to make change happen!)

Totally agree with you

"Strength Through Peace" that we need to do exactly as you suggest. Michael Nystrom has also posted the need for Dr. Paul supporters to fast forward to the present rather than doing the 2008 actions (which were effective for that time). The past 4 years I have personally been involved in an extremely successful political housecleaning in our Township, and along with 4 other like-minded individuals are on target (with no opposition after the Primary Election) to be elected to our local school board, making us the majority! My next step is to become a delegate to the GOP Convention to vote for Dr. Paul as our nominee. A small group of like-minded people can move mountains. And I am a senior citizen! GET INVOLVED AT THE LOCAL LEVEL.

You're wrong wrong wrong

Yes RPers can be waaaay too zealous.

Read all the other MSM articles on this win. They all attribute the quote by Perkins to suggest RP won b/c his supporters will show up anywhere for him.

This article suggest that "ballot-stuffing may have skewed the results."

WAAAAAAAAY different! One is having serious supporters while the other is having serious moral deficits!

Marginally?

Extremely.

How about a group request

to have our money refunded? Personally, I find it very insulting for Perkins to even comment about 600 people registering on Saturday morning and then "dissipating". Let them prove they were all Ron Paul supporters. I saw a lot of Santorum's people there on Saturday that were NOT there on Friday, contrary to seeing and speaking with many, many RP supporters upon my arrival at 1 PM on Friday and throughout the day and evening. Rick Santorum spoke on Friday, and perhaps many of his supporters could not get there to vote for him until Saturday. They should have to PROVE their allegations!

"Nothing is as it appears; everything is smoke and mirrors"

Well, in a way, he DID "stuff

Well, in a way, he DID "stuff the ballot box!" Nearly 40% of those voting were voting FOR HIM! In the 5 years I have supported this man, anytime an event of competition, or general support (local, state or national), there was ALWAYS a STRONG PRESENCE for Ron Paul! I am starting to think that this will have to happen by a show of force in physical numbers. Not violently, but just sheer numbers. They could say it's raining and the sun shines bright...it just takes the most on-hand to collectively show the lie.
