Event Details: Presidential candidate Ron Paul will speak at the University of Iowa on Friday, October 21, 2011. This event will take place at the University of Iowa Memorial Union, Main Lounge at 8:00 PM.

If you RSVP here, you can use this voucher the day of the event to enter the venue early (7:00 PM) and secure you seat. Doors open to students and the general public at 7:15 PM.

This event will add to the Hawkeyes' homecoming festivities and kick off Youth for Ron Paul in Iowa and the Midwest!

after he spoke, the faces of those around me were lit up.

The message of liberty is so powerful in person. We sat right behind Carol and the granddaughters. How proud they must be.

What a great and inspiring speech, especially part 2 and 3. Seemed like all of the students had good things to say to him too. One girl asked about a woman's right to her body, but of course, he didn't have any time to address her question. Would have been nice if there was some time for Q and A. GREAT speech though!

the media mobbed him at the exit and he only was able to shake hands with a few people (me and about 3 others). Media was pushing and they had to leave.

It was a Standing room only!

Also at the start, the crowds did not want to sit even while Ron was being introduced, until Ron Paul was shown into the room, and the room exploded with "President Paul!"...

At the end, lots of people were probably disappointed, because they did not get to shake Ron's hand. Oh well, maybe that's what a rock star looks like.

Greta Van Sustern : "How does Ron Paul win.?"

Rove : "Ron Paul is polling at 8.5%. He needs to expand his base. Giving talks at events where his supporters attend doesn't expand his base. He needs to expand his base if he expects to win."

Ron certainly needs to expand his base..duh That's what this whole campaign is about. So after internet marketing, direct mail, radio, TV ads, etc, Ron does his speeches which are open to all who want to attend which include everyone from long time supporters to the newbies. Its ridiculous for Rove to think we are only promoting to existing supporters.

Yes, I still believe that they're going to make an ad out of that issue. It answers two questions in one concept; that he doesn't support the troops by wanting to come home and cut the military budget, and also drives home the point that they're just backed by big bankers and lobbyists.

And it'd only have to be a 30 second ad. To me that's an ace in his hand, and don't be surprised if he doesn't roll that out until after Thanksgiving as part of his final push before votes start going out.
