Occupy is Wonderful! Strongly Consider Going!

Went to the OWS in Omaha, NE today. It was great. There are a lot of pissed but uninformed people.

For the people saying, "Stay away from OWS!!!" you do realize that the uninformed are the prime targets, right? Once the truth sets in it becomes infectious. It is our job to plant the seeds.

So I went to the march with my anti-establishment anti-bailout and pro-Ron Paul poster.

My favorite comments were:
1)That's the best poster I've seen today
2)You know.... I like Ron Paul (coming from progressives that have principles)

And from an Obama supporter 3) Well.... *mumble* there's no need to be calling out names...

LOL that is EXACTLY what we should be doing. A) We are pissed because we have corporatism B) you, you, and you have been helping keep it that way.

This is the PERFECT place to promote blue Republicans. I got one diehard democrat lady to say she wouldn't vote for Ron in the election but she would in the primary. And several independents gave me the, "I need to check out Ron Paul and ending the Fed."

OWS is a movement with an

OWS is a movement with an identity crisis.

Which is great.

Karl Denninger came out and said that it's better if OWS doesn't have a main agenda or set demands. As that's how the Tea Party got co-opted.

It's only goal should be 'Not to go home'. Keep protesting till it changes.

If you do get resistance just remind people that this is for 99% of people. Remind them in a democracy there is room for different views. Diversity makes us stronger.

It's a very receptive movement if you don't go in hard trying to convince people that they should follow --- -----.

But engaging people with ideas, talk about the common ground, it's amazing how many connections you can make with people.

At the end of the day everyone wants liberty and freedom.

Occupy : Picture of The Week.

see at O:45 seconds, - "Acting" Messaih joins protest, -

Great find, Najam!

He wandered around healing people and raising the dead and feeding the masses, that was all good. When he tossed the banksters out on their ear, they got out the cross.
I'm telling you, Jesus was an "End the Fed" aquaponics kinda' guy!

Cross Scares Vampires.

The Messiah was endowed with the power of healing & to perform miracles - to establish his bonafide & credentials.

The actor in the video did a great job, preparing himself as a look-alike of the pictures we have seen before, so he is easily recognizable. The important thing in the picture/ video was the sign he was carrying, - "I Threw Out The Money-Lenders For A Reason".
This will revive the debate about the cause of "Righteous Indignation". This will set in motion many trains of thought. The Messiah stressed the Law.
He demolished the usurious system, practiced by bank$ters.

Re, - the Cross. In folklore it is considered the best defense against vampires, specially the light reflected off the cross. This is shown in "Dracula" series movies, based on Bram Stoker's book. The author had done research before writing this book, - the cross has a certain significance in this context.

I suggested to stay away

And that was before when we didn't know if there was any purpose or intent of the "Occupy" movement. The media, ever in love with Ron Paul, would barbeque him alive if it was learned "Occupy" was a left-leaning organization and there was footage of RP supporters connected with the movement. Even though things could be explained away, one picture would require a million words to explain away and the RP 2012 doesn't need any foul connections. That was my intent.

Glad to see you had a good time and hope you won a few over. I debated with a girl from HS on Facebook about RP. Got nowhere. Her husband works for the Fed. Might as well have tried convincing Michelle Obama her husband is a bad President. Probably would have had more luck.

OWS exp. different for everyone

Got back from camping out the weekend at my local OWS (in addition to attending 3 planning meetings in the previous week and a half).

Apparently 99% of Americans where I live are either socialists or even a few anarchists because after the march the tourists went to the wayside (although as the lone libertarian, I'd say I was a tourist, too).

Setup a booth to promote creating a local currency which will actually help local businesses by taking market share from corporations in our area. The trick with this is it allows me to talk about fractional reserve banking, inflation, etc. without hitting the "brick wall" of mentioning Ron Paul that shuts off a lot of people.

I don't plan on doing more with our local OWS, but I do plan on further promoting a local currency, especially with businesses who, once educated, will likely become influential Paul supporters in our area.

For those who have unreceptive OWS groups, maybe it's worth a try to get the local Tea Party group to promote "End the Fed" as a counter to the "End Capitalism" types. Tea Parties defending Capitalism and Corps seems to only grow the Socialists' following which increases the odds for martial law.

P.S. Big Fan of becoming a delegate, but the primary is basically over by the time it gets to us. Phone banking is also a great idea, just not my thing.

Occupy Atlanta had a decent turnout for the March on the Fed, organized by End the Fed Atlanta.

Talk in terms they understand: inflation is a regressive tax that robs from everybody's savings and disproportionately hurts the poor and middle class.

Thanks for trying, and not giving up

We may be changing tactics, too. We found the GA meeting less than effective.

I hope you are attending

I hope you are attending these rallys loaded down with VOTER REGISTRATION applications!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad idea. These Occupy

Bad idea. These Occupy rallies are about selling ideas, not candidates. Apparently, Occupy Atlanta dispersed when moveon.org showed up at the Capitol.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but...

If you look in today's Omaha World Herald you'll see a Public Pulse letter that talks about the OWS movement and the End the Fed argument. This writer claims to be a Social Studies teacher and uses the "necessary and proper" clause to validate that the US Constitution does say the Fed is lawful and constitutional. (Now, ignore this argument we all now how this person is wrong.) What you need to recognize is that the End the Fed movement is now equated with the OWS movement. You may think this is great. But now the mainstream Republican voter, the one you're trying to convince, now will shut you down as an OWS sympathizer. What the OWS (and the real people behind it have just done) is kicked the End the Fed argument to the side. Wait for it on Tuesday night at the debate. A contender will tell Ron Paul in some shape or form that "End the Fed" is as radical as the OWS movement and thus Ron Paul is too radical for this country.

One more thing. As a real person who voted for Ron Paul at the RNC "marketing event" in Minneapolis in August '08, I can tell you that your thought process on winning the primary is all wrong. In Nebraska the primary is a beauty contest. RP could get 100% of the primary votes, but only 33 people from this state will decide who the nominee from Nebraska will be. http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P08/NE-R.phtml

To sum up. Do some real politics training where you'll learn not to work with anyone since your message will be lumped in with others and eventually your reputation trashed. Next, know the rules of the game, then show up, play by the rules, become the rule owner and practice real Republican government. (Note: I'm not trying to be harsh, just trying to shake the truth into people.)

Wait, are you trying to get

Wait, are you trying to get Republicans elected in office, or are you trying to End the Fed? Because, there are Democrats who support Ending the Fed as well.

My take

Just another writer against Ron Paul.

More attention to End the Fed is good.

I believe if Ron was asked such a question he will respond that it is good that people from every avenue are understanding that the problem is the fed and they are part of that 73% polled.

Real politics training - I am a committeeman in NYS. Not sure which rules of the game your talking about playing. The actual party rules or in jist of being a player of politics.

For our town and county (contains Buffalo), I experienced the same execution of party power as the 08' Nevada Ron Paul delegate realization. That once the party understands that their power is threatened, they can do what they want. How? Because the party rules state it can. It is with this power that the party stays in control.

For us in our area, we will not become the rule owner by following party rules. Until we have people who have the courage to attend party meetings with a vibe of anger, directed at our town party officers, there will be no start to any break of party establishment power. People belonging to parties need to "Occupy" party meetings. Now we would be getting somewhere.

Peaceful direct citizen action is the answer.

are you from Omaha? Just curious if I've actually met you IRL at a RP rally/event etc

"Capitalism should not be condemned, since we haven't had capitalism." -Dr. Ron Paul

PS... ...

Yes, I'm from Omaha. Been in the RP / C4L movement since 2007.

The Tea Party was co-opted

The OWS movement can be co-opted, too. In fact there are reports of the original protestors being pissed that RPers and libertarians are doing this. LOL

The grassroots method is still the best. Various people doing what they think is best to reach as many DIFFERENT people as possible. There were a lot of independents there... some of which I know now respect Dr. Paul.

As a side note I understand it is RNC or bust. I am one of the precinct captains in Iowa for the campaign in my county. I get it... the party will do all it can to stop us. If we don't get the delegates then it doesn't matter. Don't worry, I'll also be a state delegate all the way until I'm sure the person(s) we are sending to the RNC is a Paulite.

Yes many of these idiots want to replace the Fed with some Congress controlled press. No thanks! But if you don't educate these people, who will? For the progressives there, someone needs to remind them that Obama is part of the problem.

Realize this, though. If we get RP elected but his message isn't going to be accepted then it is irrelevant. We need to elect local leaders who will go to Congress to support liberty. After all, Ron doesn't want to be the new emperor. We need to send Liberty candidates to Washington.

"Capitalism should not be condemned, since we haven't had capitalism." -Dr. Ron Paul

And I think if you talk to most people at OWS that favor ending

the Fed, they're in favor of ending it just so the same power can be turned over to Congress so there will be unlimited money to spend on socialism. They're with Kucinich's version of End the Fed. They're not for what Paul is for which is no central authority having control over the money supply, i.e. a free market in money.

You've been ZAMPED!!!!!!!

We should co-opt OWS like how they co-opt the Tea Party

We have the funds and the on ground RP supporters. The RP crew needs to get in front of OWS marches with huge American Flags and control the cadence and chants. How awesome would it be if the Mass at OWS pledges Alegance to the Flag of The United States of America, giving them a moment of clarity?
Let's be creative with technology, we have the tools, but let's start using there strategy and tactics. Communication is key, but let's face it. Most of us have some form of A.D.D. so how do you communicate with people like that?

Occupy Chicago is full of Paul

supporters and every time I go I make sure to talk to someone about Ron Paul. Occupy is awesome and the Revolution has started. Stop hiding behind your computer.

Ron Paul on Occupy Wall Street:
“But I think that the majority of them think government is the problem and taxes are too high and they know that the Federal Reserve plays a role in this, which, of course, is something I agree with.”

I went to my local occupy event

The protesters are largely self-righteous morons who have found a new cause to bring their mindless fervor to, now that Obama has crashed and burned.

There is a percentage of the attendees who are a mixed bag, who like the general style of the protest but do not have a concrete philosophy. In other words, they aren't yet completely indoctrinated socialists. It may be possible to convert these people. Eventually.

I still question whether it's a wise expenditure of time to reach out to this crowd right now. The Republican primary is coming up, and the same effort could be put toward battling the Cain/Romney/Perry madness among registered Republicans.

I want OWS to be about liberty

but liberty only seems to extend to those who make less than a certain dollar amount.
The focus is too much on "they are keeping their profits."
There are probably a few areas where we agree but not too many.

If they were camped out in DC and state houses crying about corporate welfare, they would have tons of support from a true 99%.

Occupiers sing F* the USA.

F the socialist Occupy Wall Street movement. We shouldn't give them the honor of Ron Paul supporters' presence.

You've been ZAMPED!!!!!!!

Stress the Issues Not the Name

Nah ... Ron Paul's supporters should definitely "honor" these confused and selfish souls with their presence or they'll remain ignorant. However, Ron's supporters shouldn't unnecessarily associate Ron's name with these socialist groups. In other words, go but do so without noticeable signs of support for Ron Paul. Instead, address the ISSUES promoted by Ron without wearing or caring banners broadcasting Ron's name. Sure, one can probably safely associate Ron's name VERBALLY with the issues raised, however. Stress the issues, not a name.

ytc's picture

I'm with Judge A Nap on this issue:

"I may disagree with what you (communists/statists/big-gov liberals) say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." "But when you defend freedom, how about defending all of it?". . . and go on to point out how using fed gov to restrict Freedom of Contract and other individual freedom is against the constitutional understanding of freedom as freedom FROM fed gov meddling.

I just got back from my local ows. Had an end the fed sign and RP shirt. Got a lot of support and had some converts. Camped out. It was cold.

Our first tent went up last night in Capital Park

We will see where that goes!
THANKS for going, and your story warmed my heart.... sorry that doesn't make you any warmer!

this is YOUR army: the citizens,in need of direction & shepherds

---the OWS people is the army that needs the intellectual and philosophical direction you guys can give. It doesn't get any better than this....congratulations. this is the genesis of American People Power!

the planners of this crises wants chaos, provocateurs are expected, especially those in uniform.
you are all brothers and sisters, the cops aren't your enemy-i hope you could learn from our 1986Philippine People Power.

we gave flowers to the MARINES, rosaries and other religious iconography to redirect the anger and fear of the police/military---letting them know we are one,and we are not the enemy. SOLIDARITY! WELCOME ALL! UNITE! YOU ALL WANT TO GO IN THE SAME DIRECTION, ONLY THE DOORS ARE DIFFERENT.
end the fed. good luck guys. the world is watching and rooting for all of you, our American brethren

it aint co-opted yet by any one or any group

it aint hardly started yet

I went to my first "General Assembly" meeting

Here is my honest assessment:

In general, it is a bunch of people with good hearts who are trying to find a direction. Their efforts are a bit misguided.... OK, it was a fuster cluck in many ways.... butI saw no evidence of this local group being "co opted" although I will keep my eyes open.
