Politico: Ron Paul to propose $1T in specific budget cuts

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1011/66114.html

Ron Paul’s opinions about cutting the budget are well-known, but on Monday, he’ll get specific: the Texas congressman will lay out a budget blueprint for deep and far-reaching cuts to federal spending, including the elimination of five cabinet-level departments and the drawdown of American troops fighting overseas.

There will even be a symbolic readjustment of the president’s own salary to put it in line with the average American salary.

During an afternoon speech in Las Vegas ahead of Tuesday’s debate, Paul will say that his plan for $1 trillion in cuts will create a balanced federal budget by the third year of his presidency.

TEA Partiers can start to party!

All those TEA party members now have their true leader, and oh by the way, founder of the movement!

The Reluctant Rush Limbaugh

Rush Limbaugh just plugged Paul's plan. He says Paul stole the idea from him and anonymous Republicans. LOL. Paul is older than Rush and has been advocating cuts for decades.

Rush really hates Ron Paul to say such a silly thing.

Mission : Fat NeoCon

OK, word on the streets is that Rush Limbaugh was touting Ron Paul's $1T spending cut plat. Our mission is to find this audio and slap it on every website we can think of. The Rushtards must be wooed if we want to win the Nomination!

Paul finally delivers the red

Paul finally delivers the red meat that conservatives have been craving. Cain delivered Chicken McNuggets with 999.

CNN budget proposal story

CNN has posted a story about Ron's plan.. let's go there and back em up!

(the blackout thing is screwing up links, must copy paste)

Very Good Press

When I heard RP flippantly state he planned to release specific budget proposals in an interview coupla weeks ago I was hoping it was true.

This is very good news. Even the anti-revolution coverage is good news, cause people are starting to pay attentions and can look it up themselves.

Is that Eastern

Or central timing?

Is this being

televised on TV?

More time in the debate!

I hope this means they'll give Ron Paul as much time discussing his plan as they gave Herman Cain last time! I can hope, can't I?

They need to allow RP time to explain his plan. Or he needs to TAKE time and but in for rebuttals if they don't. It will quickly turn into the "If government doesn't do it, you'll have to do it with your own two hands" stupid argument from the moderator like it did with Brian Williams and air traffic controllers at the Reagan Library debate. At least Dr. Paul does a good job exposing the fallacy of that DIY argument! If he has time.

This is a STRONG plan for the GOP nomination. It'll take more educating of independent/left-leaning voters in the general election, but that's what Ron Paul does best. I'm looking forward to this plan making Republican primary voters see Herman Cain and Mitt Romney as tinkerers that won't really fix the problem of a massive federal government that needs to be cut back significantly. Republican primary voters have been waiting to hear about TRILLIONS being cut, not over the next decade, but in a year! It's awesome that Ron Paul will be laying out a plan for it that will look a lot more dedicated to fixing the mess than Cain's national sales tax or other plans to just cut around the edges.

What time is the speech?

The anticipation is killing me!

would be 6 PM EST...

Like these quotations

Like these quotations included in the article:

“Dr. Paul is the only candidate with a plan to cut spending and truly balance the budget”

“This is the only plan that will deliver what America needs in these difficult times: Major regulatory relief, large spending cuts, sound monetary policy, and a balanced budget.”

Let it not be said that we did nothing.-Ron Paul
Stand up for what you believe in, even if you stand alone.-Sophia Magdalena Scholl

While Cain proposes a NEW tax revenue stream (9% Sales tax)

But here is the REAL deal.

Dr. Paul's plan focuses on spending rather than more revenue.

His plan will cut-cut-CUT these rotted federal programs and agencies and make those fat-lazy parasite government "workers" go get REAL jobs in the private sector where they might actually PRODUCE something.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Love his economic plan

It's not 999, it's let me keep mine.

Dr. Ron Paul 2012 : )

sweet line dude!!!

sweet line dude!!!

DUDE!!!! I LOVE IT!!!

This needs to be Paul's slogan!! "It's not 999, it's Let Me Keep Mine!"

(Also, Mine-Mine-Mine comes to mind, but that sounds incredibly selfish, haha)

Oi... Anybody a member of Politico that can set

this one straight:

(Bold emphasis added for what really needs to be set straight) This one knows NOTHING about Paul.

I look forward to a careful reading of Congressman's Paul's specific proposals. I trust among his many ideas will be some good ones. Overall though, Paul pays far too little to our Constitution's "we the people" mandate to "promote the general Welfare." If Paul has his way, you are on your own. I know this sounds ironic coming from a man who has for decades been a tax-dollar, teat-sucking government man with a taxpayer-subsidized, gold-plated health insurance and pension plan. Nonetheless, "you are on your own" is what this government lifer offers you -- this man who has government and tax payers to thank for what wealth, fame and security he has in his life.

Mentioned in the United States' Preamble to the Constitution, "Welfare" means health, happiness, prosperity or well-being.

The US Supreme Court has ruled that nothing in the preamble grants legislative power.

"Welfare" should not be read in isolation, but as a part of the whole preamble - the idea of the preamble is simply that the founders of our nation think that the proposed system of governance would naturally result in the items listed in the preamble. Be very cautious to not confuse result and causation.

"General welfare" is one of the ostensible results of our system of governance.

Turning the tables around and saying that "general welfare" is a legislative goal is entirely corrupt and against what the founders were saying.

The founders defined "welfare" as a result - a natural consequence. Those who would incorrectly have you believe that it is a legislative objective try to rewrite history by making a consequential result into an active cause.

Perhaps the previous would be true if the "general welfare" were only mentioned in the preamble. Thankfully it is included in the text where "general welfare" is surely a legislative goal (as is the whole preamble--the articles and amendments merely spell out the HOW we get what the preamble guarantees) "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States"

That surely points out that congress shall tax and spend on "health, happiness, prosperity or well-being".

that's what you have if paul gets his way.

Love won! Deliverance from Tyranny is on the way! Col. 2:13-15

wish we had headline with "prophet" photo on politico!

Plus the article reacted positively to the presidential pay cut idea. Again, it is not a plan to save money, that is ridiculous, it is a plan that redefines what the role of government is and how our politicians should be respected.
