Ron Paul Ad idea: Hearts and Minds
Submitted by PrismPaul on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 10:52I had this idea for a RP ad and the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Thought I'd throw it out there to see if it gets any traction.
Ron Paul Ad: Hearts and Minds
Narrator is ideally a slowish speaking, husky older guy the way I hear it. Pickup truck, heart-of-America type.
Narrator: When I was young, they said if I voted Republican I wasn’t using my heart
…Over images of Vietnam, Nixon, nuclear buildup, Reagan. (dramatic somber music)
Narrator: And as I got older, they told me if I voted Democrat, I wasn’t using my mind
…Over scenes of New Deal, FDR, Johnson, Great Society, Carter, gas lines (same music continues)
Narrator: But I can’t help but notice the damndest thing… It seems that we elect Democrats, and they break our hearts…
(fade into the following snippets play with audio)
Snippet of Clinton speaking on Iraq, then Madeline Albright in classic statement on deaths being “worth it”…
Snippet of Hillary saber-rattling on Iran
Bombing images from Libya
Scene of Obama joking “I’ve got two words for you: predator drones” … “you will never see it coming…”
Echo and Fade to silence/black
Narrator: And We elect Republicans that boggle our minds
(fade into the following snippets play with audio)
Snippet of Bush 1 on “compassionate conservatism”
Snippet of reporter on how Cheney said that Regan proved that deficits don’t matter
Rapid fire snippets of Bush 2 about expanding home ownership, no child left behind, prescription drug benefit
Finally Bush 2 : “I’ve abandoned free market principles to save the free market system”
Echo, fade to black
Narrator: Then suddenly there’s this man.
…Over fade-in of Paul (shaking hands with supporters)
Narrator: A man of true integrity and consistency, who has been delivering the same principled message for decades.
...Over images of Paul on the house floor aging through the years
Narrator: A principled message that speaks to our hearts and our minds
(Then very short snippets for Dr. Paul speaking while dramatic music builds):
Snippet about the inseparability of personal and economic liberty
Snippet about how we have to look at what we do in other countries from the perspective of how we would feel if they were done to us
Snippet on how the free market is the only truly compassionate system, that delivers the most prosperity with the widest distribution
Finally his classic line about how we won’t see things improve until we assess the role of government – background music stops before he finishes this statement – “…not to take care of us from cradle to grave and not to be policeman of the world.”
Echo to black again. Silent
Narrator: And I ask myself. Has there ever been another politician like this?...
…over rapidly discarded images of politicians stacking on the screen – recent presidents and prominent candidates including Gore, Edwards, Dole… end with Obama, Perry, Romney on top then fade to black screen.
Fade in to Ron on the stage with the cheering fans…
Narrator: …and will we ever have an opportunity like this again?

nice
If I hadn't been a Paul supporter since 07 something like this,I think would have gave me something to seriously consider.I think the idea is awesome.
I love this idea!
This is amazing, I'd love to see this put together and get it on the air somewhere. I think it would benefit by adding the idea to this thread: http://www.dailypaul.com/183341/first-ever-grassroots-tv-ad-.... Also, there was an article talking about the lack of good ideas with the Charlie Sheen meme, I think you've nailed it. Keep it up, I'd be willing to donate something to get it done
In Liberty,
Luis
I like it
I like it
I read it all
I start by saying I'm an advertising Art director and I come up with ads that you would have seen on the Telebox.
So your idea is hearts and minds. I like it.
maybe consider this. and its your idea too.
No words, just short 1 second close up shots of a bumper sticker on an SUV bumper a dirty truck a tractor a clean car, a bike. Badges on grandmothers, soldiers and pets, signs in yards, on bridges, etc
And at the end Ron paul just saying thank you. People don't like political ads so its filmed like pauls life ad. it was fresh.
This can be a 20 second or 30 second spot that even you can shoot.
Another idea! just for fun. You see Ron Paul throwing seed in lots of locations :) let people talk about what it means.
