Ron Needs ti Fix His Tie

Other then that, He Looks Great!!!

Just saw RP's RevolutionPac ad on CNN

from a college Starbucks full of kids none of witch glanced even once to the (big) screen or paid it any mind. Disheartening for sure, after all of the money, effort, etc. to get it on the air, absolutely no one here (~35) looked up at the screen once during the entire ad. Being awake gets lonely sometimes.

"I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself." - Thomas Jefferson

To: Edman 29....your CRITICISM

Hi, the reason we get frustrated is EXACTLY BECAUSE this is a Presidential race, where we have zilch support from Big Media and zilch support from the Republican Party. This isn't some contest to win the President of a High School.

And, while I agree with you that we all love Dr. Paul the way he is, and while I agree with you that once on board with the kind doctor, they will become an avid supporter~~~well, it won't be the case for those~~~

IMPULSIVE VOTERS, INDECISIVE VOTERS, LAST MINUTE VOTERS, SWING VOTERS, or whatever you want to call them.

Naturally, we, the ardent supporters, want Dr. Paul to look as professional as he possibly can. You never know when something stupidly handled might just be the tipoff that goes against him in the minds of many whimsical voters. We have to have the support of as many people as we can get.

Now, I hope you undrstand the logic behind the "comments", because it has nothing to do with Dr. Paul personally.

It has to do with WINNING!

Starting!

Ron Paul said that this is a START!
You do not go on a long trip by arriving! You have to start somewhere.

Starting with the things that most people will agree needs to be cut or abolished is just a start! He did not say what the end, or the trip between would be. You start with small steps and when the idiots see that it is helping they may be more open to doing away with the IRS and the 'income' tax.

When they see that his plan is working then there would be less opposition to more cuts.

Don't get greedy and try to get it all at the beginning! Most of the uninformed public would cry out for his scalp!

JB does seem respectful, though.

And I think he sincerely loves Ron Paul. I'm not sure why we want to blame him for everything, though I admit I've been very harsh on him too.

It seems like maybe there ought to be a couple more people on the team. One person to coordinate events and another to handle the press. That way Benton could continue to be Paul's right hand man without the inevitable slip ups by someone over burdened and under experienced.

Ron Paul is 180 degrees

from any other politician we will encounter. We have had the polished, coached, teleprompter-led presidents and they are liars and cheats.

All surface, no depth.

Perhaps RP would implode if all of these surface 'requirements' were made of him before he stepped up to the microphone.

He is who he is - I kinda like the thought of having a president I want to give a bear-hug to.

Man this is badly organized

First off having those girls in the background just looks staged and cheesy. Unneccesary.

Second of all, why do they not prepare microphones for the questioning? Do they want to underline the fact that Ron Paul is old and make it look as if he has hearing issues?

Can they not afford microphones?

You can see Jesse Benton hidding an old lady in the beginning.

There is a short old lady who stands in the front on the right in the beginning of the video, and then Jesse Benton tucks her away in the second row, replacing her with a young girl, who appeared to be uncomfortable standing in front because she actually had gone from the front row back to the second row on her own.

I just played the above video, it's been replaced with a video which had been cut, and it doesn't show the beginning anymore.

its as if

they were not really serious about taking questions. no microphones and most, if not all questions came from people on the back of the pack, who could not be heard. started fine, but the Q&A spoiled it. in today's times these things are also important.

Would have been nice to see Mrs. Paul

The stage had a good mix of people, but they weren't arranged perfectly. I got the sense that people stood where they pleased. Guys hid in the back, kids got put in very front and older women stood on the sidelines.

Maybe someone should draw up a formal plan next time there is a staged conference. After all, it is a STAGE and no one would argue that personal liberty is infringed upon by expecting actors to play their proper parts!

No, because the campaign is

No, because the campaign is being run by a bunch of chimps like Benton. Didn't we all learn in our government schools about the first televised debate between Kennedy and Nixon? Remember how big a deal it was that Nixon was sweating like a pig, and how much attention that got? Is there ANYONE on Dr Paul's staff who knows what the hell they're doing??

Media narrative: Ron Paul's a dotty old man.
Benton: Let's just wing it with no mics so Ron's forced to look like a dotty old man who can hardly hear. Brilliant.

There SHOULD HAVE BEEN a BUNCH of sound bytes from this that could've been aired on every station. Thank God they're not playing any. I'd rather them just read the transcript cuz it LOOKS awful...

Guys Seriously??

You cant abolish the income tax while having a 14 trillion dollar debt. We have to use the income tax to pay off the debt. Then it can be abolished.

I know, and like, we can't

I know, and like, we can't just up and LEAVE afghanistan, right? I mean there'd be chaos. We need to like, set a timetable n' stuff, like, you know, like we'll be out in like 3 years or something like that. Meanwhile, we'll keep bombing little kids and propping up the evil Karsai regime.

Sorry, if the Income Tax is truly the root of all evil; if it's immoral; if it's the principle that the government owns us and the fruits of our labor and that it merely ALLOWS us to keep a portion of it, THEN IT MUST BE STATED UNEQUIVOCALLY, that it MUST BE abolished!

What a wasted opportunity this was to lay down the hard principle of the fact. Stating a few "radical" cuts without stating the end goal is a mind-blowing mistake.

Am I the only one who heard

Am I the only one who heard Ron Pauls reasoning for this exact plan? Sure seems like it...

YET AGAIN: The reason for this exact plan is not that it cures everything and makes it how it ought to be right off the bat, it's a bill that is "passable even in a split congress"... "TODAY", while still moving toward accomplishing the overall goals, some immediately.

Some of you guys are as bad as some of Obama's supporters in '08 who expected miracles the first day he took office. Try to be somewhat reasonable, and at least glance at the big picture.

That or we can just sit here, bicker and be negative about nonsense, and kill any momentum and thus chance that we have of winning. I know which way I'm leaning.

Please don't freak out over details right now.

We KNOW that Dr. Paul understands and recognizes that the income tax and IRS need to be eliminated, and alot of other things too.
He's not changing his tune. He has not said that there are no other things which he will do. He's just pointing out these particular things as highlights.

When he gets in office, we know how he thinks, and we can depend on him.

I wouldn't worry about things going on in "campaign mode", and construing those things to mean he's abandoning principles. He just doesn't abandon principles, so quit worrying.

This is so brilliant!!! It's the DEBT, stupid!! NO other

candidate has anything, to offer. 999 does not address the debt. Once again, the good dr. is the only one defining the problem, AND giving the solution.

Debbie

Yes!

"It's the debt stupid."

Priceless, timeless words.

1 concern for the campaign

Ron Paul has his reputation for never voting for an unbalanced budget. Why doesn't this have a balanced budget until the 3rd year? I can see him getting ripped for "Being able to talk the talk, but not being able to walk the walk." And where is the balanced budget amendment? Of all people you'd think he'd put that out there front and center.

We need Schiff badly

I read through the plan and agree with most of the comments about how it could have been alot better. This was over hyped and our expectations were pretty high. I think that the PDF is way more complicated than it needed to be. I was really expecting something ground breaking. I hope he doesn't lose the chance to end the income tax and IRS which are not mentioned at all in this PDF.

This is a budget plan. The first page should say the goal is to eliminate the income tax by cutting spending. Then the sheet on page 4 would be the first sheet with revs above expenses.....the time line would show how phasing out the income tax would flow through and the overall expenses would be cut. The second chart would have a few broad strokes of where the cuts would come from. That's it!

The point is the income tax and it's elimination is the key....the spending cuts are a result of that. Reading over this doc all I really see are cuts that ppl will poke holes through.

I really wish they ran this by Schiff before posting.....the millions/billions screw ups are annoying. On a positive side, the Benton managed to get some hotties to stand behind RP.

That's not true that the spending cuts are a result of the

elimination of the income tax. Look at the national debt clock - we already SPEND nearly twice as much on the interest on our debt ALONE as we collect in "revenues". Haven't you heard Treas. Sec'y Geithner say we borrow $.40 for every $1.00 we spend?? It's the DEBT that is the problem! This IS ground-breaking. With a country as big as ours, a detailed budget is not going to look simple. It's a lot more complicated than yours or mine would be! NO other candidate has even come out with a plan! Ending the income tax will require Congress to repeal the 16th Amendment, but this does end some other taxes, like the death tax. Please pay attention and really know what you are talking about here before you criticize the good doctor. He has pulled off a coup here.

Debbie

Is Rand's Senate Jobs bill compatible?

Is the RandP, Portman, McCain and McConnell Jobs Through Growth Act compatible with Paul's economic plan?

http://www.dailypaul.com/182686/senators-unveil-jobs-through...

A little further down in the comments you'll see why I ask

http://www.dailypaul.com/182686/senators-unveil-jobs-through...

We just may have the stage set for endorsements from some of the most influential Republicans in the House and Senate. Now THAT would catch the media completely off guard with mud on their face and their pants on the ground. lol

I absolutely

agree with you on about everything. The fact that the abolishment of the income tax isn't even a stated goal by a certain year is driving me crazy. For one reason, he's campaigned on it, so YOU HAVE TO LIVE UP TO YOUR WORD!! It's not even stated here!!! The IRS issue...again...he's campaigned on greatly reducing the IRS! Yet, there's not even a mention of a reduction/future reduction on there! It's really frustrating to me to a degree. You say all this stuff RP and then you don't even have stated goals on your plan/do what you've said you will do.

You still have my vote without a doubt RP, but I am kind of frustrated with your plan...I hope your interviews go better than the Blitzer interview.

Eliminating income taxes Is the goal!

Spending cuts and a balanced budget are the result. This way a-holes like wolf can't attack.

Q: wolf: dr you want to cut the doe?
A: no....my goal is to eliminate income taxes.....cuts to the doe and the rest are a result of my goal and btw if you looked at the numbers, the gov would still have nearly 2 trillion in revs. I think the doe could tighten its belt abit on 2 t!

Q: but dont we need the doe to look after our nukes.
A: wolf.....you must be the only person in the country that wants to pay income taxes.....if I'm president I could propose that you be the exception and again, with a defense budget of 1t I'm sure we could find someone to look after the nukes!

Wolf: if you become president I don't want to be the exception.

It's a much cleaner story and one that very few ppl could attack. ....

Why not replace the video with the one with Q(&A) subtitle,

prepared by Joe Plummer below???

Ron Paul Conference with subtitled questions added
Submitted by Joe Plummer on Mon, 10/17/2011 - 22:37.

Since it was hard to hear the questions, I added them as subtitles. (There were a couple things I couldn't make out, but it should be better than nothing.)

Dude, Maybe We All Should Run For President

I felt it had a more down to earth approach. More personable and not so flashy.
Ron Paul has to win by being ONE OF US and not one of them. Seemed like a smaller room, which is why they didn't have a mic. I heard all the questions fine. A mic would have been better but it was ok. JB asked Paul what he wanted and was directed as for taking questions. In the end Paul is the decision maker.

All the people who criticize Ron Paul for his hair and suit give it up. Ron Knows what he is doing. His lack of polish is Ron Paul. I think it shows he is one of us (human). You were drawn to him so why won"t the average person? If you don't agree with how he runs his campaign. Run your own campaign and lets see just how good you think you are. Some one is always going to dis someone for something. It's called TOLERANCE people.

The thing that baffles me is how so called supporters come out and rag him over superficial stuff like that. I thought that was what all the other Politicians were about. Screw Cain with his 999 and Romney Care and all the rest any rational person knows they are all jokes. If the masses elect another idiot fake politician, they get what they deserve. We should be fine tough because were all so smart and have everything figured out right? So in the end who cares.

I mean REALLY? REALLY? REALLY?

P.S. I have a pimple on my butt, heaven forbid I run for office it just might pop!

"The more you understand everything, the more you can understand anything."
PDV

There is a big difference between personable and disheveled

Look, Ron Paul does not need to convince his supporters with these things, he needs to convince people that are currently planning to vote for somebody else. His supporters don't care as much about his tie or the lack of microphones because they know him and are already convinced.

However, for the rest of the country that are looking to elect the next leader of the free world, they might want to see somebody who has his act together. If you are not really familiar with this guy, and only really see a parody of him on SNL, then this kind of goof-up reinforces the notion him being a joke.

The truth is that people do not want to elect their kind old uncle to be president, even if he's got good ideas. They want to elect somebody that has a command of the situation that can actually turn this country around. That's a tough job. People want somebody that can get things done and get things done right. Not having a microphones for questions at your own press conference that you planned and asked for questions does not convey that type of competence.

People who say that it's only the message that is important just don't get it. We are not electing a message. We are electing a leader. Leadership is a real job and image is a part of that job. Nobody is saying he needs to be fake, but it is his job to have his act together.

No one expects Dr Paul to be

No one expects Dr Paul to be a polished politician like Romney, cuz it ain't him. But the entire JOB of his campaign staff is to take the Dr Paul we know and love and PRESENT him in the most polished manner possible.

We're not just attacking this because his suit doesn't fit and his hair isn't combed, but because even the very basics of the message got lost in this. The stage was a joke. The Q&A was totally sloppy and unprepared at the most elementary level. If you think just because we're supporters that we're supposed to ignore the idiocy of Benton and Doug "Dr Paul's Winston Churchill" Wead, then speak for yourself.

Why the F wasn't Tom Woods put in charge of Paul's advisors? Even on Blitzer's interview, he seemed ill prepared to answer questions you KNEW would be asked. We're playing with the big boys here.

Name that reporter

Keep track of the reporters names and the outlet they each work for, so we can find and review what they each publish. To the reporter that publishes the best report we drop a dollar bomb via snail-mail.

I'm sorry, not only was this

I'm sorry, not only was this announcement totally unpolished when he needed polish MOST but not mentioning the eventual goal of ABOLISHING THE INCOME TAX is a catastrophic blunder!

Herman, Loves-The-Fed CAIN now gets away with the ridiculous claim that HE alone would scrap the entire tax code. How could something so elementary be omitted from Dr Paul's statements here??

Look, I know our man has all the substance in the world, but this campaign is getting blundered all over the place. Get Dr Paul a freakin suit that fits him for Christ's sake, comb his freakin hair, and set up a podium that doesn't look like a cheap high school debate set! Is this all so very hard??
