Presidential Candidate Says Electoral Process Hijacked
Submitted by legalizeliberty on Tue, 10/25/2011 - 09:32Gary Johnson has had enough:
Former New Mexico Governor and Republican Presidential candidate Gary Johnson has had enough. Johnson, a favorite among the populist and libertarian wing of the GOP, has been systematically kept out of almost all of the race’s nationally televised debates. Just as bad, he’s been purposely omitted from most of the national polls which the major TV networks insist is the main criteria deciding who gets an invitation and who doesn’t.
Johnson's announcement begins with the headline, 'Gary Johnson to RNC: Letting News Media Pre-Select Presidential Field is Irresponsible'.

On the Today Show this morning
they insisted that the three GOP front runners now are Romney, then Perry, then Gingrich.
How'd that happen? LOL.
Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...
I brought up a similar topic before
What I want to know is why if Gov. Johnson is not allowed in the debates are we still seeing Santorum, Bachmann, and Huntsman? They are just dead weight sucking valauble air time away and I don't think Johnson polls any lower than Santorum.
I have a hunch they keep him out not because he polls any lower than Santorum, but because he gives legitimacy to Pauls message. The minute he said he'd pick Paul for VP in that debate, people thought hmm. we better get this guy out of there or we'll have two Libertarians to deal with. You better believe if Paul didn't poll so high he wouldn't be there either.

It's time for a third party to take over
I can't think of a better election for a third party to stand up and win in 2012. IF Ron Paul does not win the early primaries, I believe there may still be enough time for Gary Johnson or Ron Paul to be a major force in the presidential elections as the Libertarian party candidate. People are sick of the Democrats and Republicans. They have given each more than a chance to change and clean up their mess, but have failed miserably. The one thing that these early primaries do is allow a third party to be a major force come November 2012.
Granted I should admit that I am not very familiar with how difficult it may be to get on the ballots...
Think about it though. If the GOP candidate becomes Cain, Romney, Newt, or Perry, how long do you think it would take for the GOP and the public to say, why did we choose him?
There's always this

Elections are a scam to convince people they are free.
Here is an interesting perspective from libertariannews.org:

Very much hijacked
Just came across this article about a county in Idaho. A GOP insider says they are forcing caucuses over primaries to slow down Ron Paul's momentum in Idaho.

I imagine it's all legal, but man, does it stink.
sad...
Nevada’s recent decision to move its primary back to February is a blow to the Ron Paul's campaign as well.
If Nevada was voting early and Ron won or came second (as is expected) it would give him huge boost--showcase to the entire nation that Ron Paul is a front-runner in this race.

“The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence.” Dr. Ron Paul
It is good and bad
For one it could lead to even further "laws" dictating who can or can't "qualify" to run for president. That itself worries me BUT the one law at the federal level would be an "equal candidate" law so that anyone who can fork out that 1 million or whatever gets the same face time.
No "hit ads" or other ads that one candidate can RISE above the rest. It shouldn't be some long drawn out thing but I think could be dealt with within a months time.
Have a couple debates and a couple nationwide polls and call it DONE. No dirty political ads or other bs. They stand with their platform and thats it.
Let their record and their plan BE their reason to get elected and not simply how well they give a speech like obama and cain and romney...
Gary is a good guy but there were others running BEHIND HIM that aren't even talked about either so once you fight for one of the candidates then you better do it for ALL OF THEM.
I like how Ron ROSE about the b.s this time compared to last time because ron was treated like Gary back during rons 2007 run but WE got him noticed which inturn helped for this cycle.
It is very one sided but at least they are so biased they TRASH anyone not in the top 2. Hell look at the coverage they do on bachmann now that they don't want her in the "top tier".
Hell they are propping up newt right now LOL, yet another great talker but what good does a great speech do for anyone. Sure we feel all warm and fuzzy during the speech but what happens when you go home and the country is still in shambles?
I think we should get behind
I think we should get behind this and make a huge stink about it. There are several good things that can come of it.
1) Enlighten more people about how it's rigged.
2) We defend Gary Johnson, nobody blames us for whining about Dr. Paul.
3) Gary Johnson looks like the next best thing to Dr. Paul ten years down the road.
4) He's completely right. It's rigged. Let's shine some light on this criminal process.
5) More Gary Johnson people come to RP for this election cycle
6) More reasonable people see all the BS that Ron Paul has had to go through and how the media is marginalizing him, too (and we won't really have to say anything about that if we show the process working against Johnson).
Gary, You really aren't missing much.
Do you really want to stand around letting your feet go to sleep listening to some dufuses rave about mowing the lawn?
Don't these Neros know Rome is burning?
What we really need are a series of one-on-one round robin policy discussions between gentleman candidates who want to do what is best for this country.
Ask Ron's campaign for the opportunity.
Show it on Youtube.
Perhaps you could shame the other candidates and MSM into some constructive patriotism.
I'll take my Liberty, it's not yours to give.
Really, When did that happen? Caught off guard again?
How did that happen, isn't this the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Some may disagree but now is the time for
Gary Johnson to endorse Ron Paul. The advantage is RP can appoint GJ to a post that will enhance his position in the next election.
This is going to be necessary if we are going to finish what RP started. It is not going to just end with this election. It is going to take years and a committed base to make this happen.
Ron will be a one term President, Gary could do one or two with Rand gaining experience. We must look after Ron but Not lose the immediate situation.
It is time to look here and down the road. We need Gary to move the Libertarian/libertarian vote to Ron. It is not much but it needs to be done.
If Ron does not win the Libertarian party is OVER!! The Republican party is OVER!!!
Slavery is all that is left.
Jim
The Progressives both Republican/Democrat will have won.
1976-1982 USMC, You can thank me for my service by voting for Dr. Ron Paul, President 2012
the real hijacking has been
the real hijacking has been at the level of the electoral college ... seated by establishment democrats and republicans ... they will never allow a real conservative into office as seen with the landslide against barry goldwater.
Good to hear Johnson speak out!
What they have done is just so despicable.
I hate to see this but
I hate to see anyone get the shaft unfairly, but if there's a silver lining to this cloud I hope Johnson's base will now move their support over to Ron Paul.
If we all work together we can get Ron Paul in the White House and save our republic!
they will
no doubt about it.

We should be fighting for
We should be fighting for Gary Johnson too. Johnson being in the national discussion can only be good for liberty, and therefore good for Ron Paul. The two debates Johnson participated in were two of the best debates so far.
Johnson's media blackout I would argue is more damaging to the movement than Paul's blackout, because if Johnson isn't part of the conversation Paul looks like a kook. Two is a party. There should be 8 liberty candidates up there not 7 neocons and 1 liberty candidate.

Agree completely. We should

I am GLAD he wrote & COMPLAINED
...and we all know how it feels to get marginalized by the wealthy RINOS in this country who seem to have an umbilical cord directly to the FED.
My comment/post...
Ron Paul supporter here, but like most commenting I greatly admire Governor Johnson. My advice to the governor, "Let Ron Paul get the ball rolling for a good eight years, then pick up where he leaves off." After your term(s) Rand Paul will be waiting in the wings and maybe...just maybe...we'll get this country turned around again.
Personally, I would have MUCH rather heard lively intellectual/philosophical discussion between Gary and Ron than the constant and childish bickering between Mitt and Rick or that incessant "9-9-9" nonsense!
Sorry gang!
This is the first time I have posted on this site a comment that may, by some, be considered negative. Nevertheless I think it should be said. The ballot/debate access requirements have always been biased in favor of the two major party candidates as well as the establishment candidates. Like most protectionist laws no one cares until it directly affects them. Sorry to say I do not believe Governor Johnson's position that "Never did it occur to me that I would be excluded from the conversation".
This battle has been going on for many years and the good governor should head up a task force of citizens to fix the presidential debate process once and for all. It will take some time and may not serve Governor Johnson but it could help others in the future.

Someone explain to me how a
Someone explain to me how a candidate is supposed to get into the debates if none of the polls even include the candidate's name? It's so rigged.

Nice idea.
I would recommend asking someone to do a nice banner for your site, it's one of the first things people look at when they see a site and determines how seriously the site is interpreted.
Also, make it unbiased. Make it look like it isn't coming from a RP supported, but include details like the aggregate poll results from Wiki and speaking time in debates to show how big the gaps really are...
good idea

Cool
I would really need a list of the most important questions probably post them up, then link the page to all the Candidates and they would need to make a youtube vid from their channel answering that question then they could be linked appropriately no crowd booing or cheering just straight questions and answers and if the candidate did not answer the actual question it would not get linked.
