Rick Perry says it was a ‘mistake’ for him to go to debates

Many political observers agree that Rick Perry's dismal debate performances have helped spark his dramatic collapse in recent polls. Now, not surprisingly, the Republican presidential hopeful insists his biggest mistake in the campaign so far was agreeing to participate in the forums at all.

"These debates are set up for nothing more than to tear down the candidates. It's pretty hard to be able to sit and lay out your ideas and your concepts with a one-minute response," the Texas governor told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly. "So, you know, if there was a mistake made, it was probably ever doing one of the [debates], when all they're interested in is stirring up between the candidates instead of really talking about the issues that are important to the American people.

i disagree i think his mistake was announcing his candidacy

My God

Is it possible Perry is actually right about something. Very scary. I wouldn't spread this around. As far as the one minute sound bites. How would he like to be Ron Paul who gets 30seconds, or none at all.

What a wuss.

I hope he stays in until after Iowa ...

My guess is that if Perry stays in, Paul finishes 1 or 2.

If Perry drops out and endorses Gingrich or Cain, Paul finishes 2nd or 3rd.

Man I hope Perry listens to his ego on this one.

I think Paul and Perry should

I think Paul and Perry should have a Lincoln-Douglas style debate.

Guess he'll be skipping the rest of the debates...

O wait, I guess he'll flip-flop and show up. Either way he's going down.

Ask Perry About Todd Willingham

Last night I was watching a show on PBS. It had to do with a man named Todd Willingham.
Todd was put to death for the crime of arrson..killing his 3 children in the fire.
Before he was murdered by the state, it was PROVEN that Todd Willingham was INNOCENT.
Enter Rick Perry...who stated that T.W. was a vial man because he beat his wife and deserved to die. True. TW hit his wife..but he never killed her..shes still walking around...and he did not kill his children.
He should have done some time for what he did to his wife...but he should NOT have paid with his life for a crime he did not committ.
If you do a bit of research, you'll find out that Perry FIRED the people that could have helped set Willingham free.
Heres one take on the story

It was a mistake

to talk.

"It does not take a majority to prevail but rather an irate, tireless minority keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

--Samuel Adams

If Perry

had some integrity and conviction rather than running in whatever direction the wind blew or didn't take bribes from corporations than maybe the candidates wouldn't have so much ammo to attack him with. Other Candidates pointing out your lies inconsistencies and immoral decisions is not being unfair to you. Stop playing the victim.

Eh, he's got a point

The debates are largely to stir up garbage between the candidates, float platitudes and generally provide for reality show entertainment.

I'm not giving Perry any sympathy or respect otherwise.

Give a fool enough rope and

Give a fool enough rope and he'll hang himself. Perry was the media favorite so they gave him more time and look what he did with it.

That's like saying - it was a mistake for the American people...

...to find out the truth about myself.

That's what these debates are all about.

They show your level of knowledge, intelligence and understanding of the role of government.

It's why Ron Paul always does so well and it's also why Sarah Palin didn't enter the race.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Reminds me of the saying....

It is better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you are a fool...than to open it and remove all doubt.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

The funny thing is

that the media fauned all over him and gave him tons more time to speak than they gave others, and fed him softball questions to help him hit one out of the park.

Unfortunately for Perry, he has the intellectual capacity of a lost golf ball, and showed the world exactly that.

These "Ken Doll" candidates like Perry and Romney are better off if they say nothing, and let professional media people and PR people keep them insulated from the viewing public.
It is harmful to their image if anyone sees what's behind their cosmetic make-up.

not only that, but compare him to the other RP

Paul has gotten even less time and much more hostile treatment from the debate system than Bilderberger Perry, yet his debate performances boost him.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

it worked for him

in TX. He refused to debate his challenger for Governor and still won. This is what we are up against.

Debra Medina

Kicked his ex-Democrat a$$ so he had to pull out his attack dog beck to go after her. beck is here, now, so he can be close to "daddy" perry! What scum and trash these two are!

Give us clear vision, that we may know where to stand and what to stand for - because unless we stand for something, we shall fall for anything.

Also Mark Davis

was in with Beck on that attack on Medina.
Davis is another neocon attack dog.
