http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2011/10/ron-paul-spent-...

Just another hit piece...if the media is stooping to this, we can forget about ever getting positive coverage.

“‘I love my job,’ sneered the goon.”

“ABC has a blog post noting that Ron Paul leads in spending on charter flights.

“People around the country really want to meet Dr. Paul and hear him speak. He gets large crowds wherever he goes because actual, real people support him and will fight traffic jams to see him as they did in Buffalo recently. (A traffic jam caused by his supporters quickly filling up a large parking lot.)

“Dr. Paul goes out of his way to accommodate his supporters. Hence, the many charter flights. The other candidates wish they had so many speaking invitations. The article correctly notes that charters allow Dr. Paul to spend time with his supporters one-on-one as he did in Buffalo in the hot sun.

“Can Romney draw a crowd of non-hacks and non-lobbyists?” (author: J. Ostrowski)

“Recently, Ron Paul had to go through his first invasive pat-down at the airport; his knee replacements bar him from the gulagoscan. This is one of the most well-mannered men I know, but after four very hard jabs to his genitals, he asked the blue-gloved TSA agent: 'How can you live with yourself, feeling up strange men all day long?'

Paul ante portas.

I would MUCH rather that he get to an event when he wants to

get there - fresh and relaxed, than have him waste his valuable time waiting for commercial flights.

And since its on MY dime (along with others like me) its fine.

Its intended to imply the Ron Paul uses federal money to do this

Thats the only reason this article was written. Its supposed to suggest that Ron Paul is wasting money in one category more than any other candidate is.

This would be a great opportunity to fund a ...

Private charter money bomb.

We can make it to coincide with the 11/5 bomb last time.

Shove this news right back down their throat.

Wasn't there a

Wasn't there a fundraiser/moneybomb specifically so that RP could charter flights, enabling him to make more effective use of his time?

...

yes, but not specifically

Yes there was. I'm not sure it was specifically a "Buy Ron a Plane" money-bomb. But niether was it a fund raising event for RP2012 PEC (Presidential Election Committee). It was a fundraiser for LibertyPAC (Ron's PAC) and it occurred before Ron announced he was forming a Presidential Exploratory Committee), and after it was well known and thoroughly discussed on public RP forums that personal transportation was a big factor in RP's decision to run for President or not. LibertyPAC fundraiser was the grassroots' effort to influence Ron's transportation concerns in a positive way. I think together our aim was to raise enough for Ron to buy a plane -but I don't remember that it was the "theme". I believe we raised 1.1million if my memory serves me correct.

Yeah

As part of the Iowa projects in the "Ready, Ames, Fire!"

Operation "Top Gun" was one of the projects in there to make sure Ron was able to charter as many flights as possible to keep him in Iowa and in front of voters.

hope he spends more

and spreads his message of liberty

Good.

How much do airplanes and pilots and gas cost to buy? More than that I guess?

Small price...

Do charter flights require you to go through TSA?

If not, I'm happy to know my campaign contributions have gone to ensuring no TSA clowns are grabbing my President's junk.

Not a bad article. A little

Not a bad article. A little heavy janded at first but balances out by the end. If a bright person at the campaign could have been available for comment it would have been a good opportunity to explain how much more Paul is campaigning than the others.

right on!

hope the campaign is listening to you:

of course the driveby media

missed the real story.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who DIDN'T LIE about the costs.

War is an instrument entirely inefficient toward redressing wrong; and multiplies, instead of indemnifying losses.
Thomas Jefferson

Maybe we could just buy him a small plane

It might cost less and we could send a message that we approve of what he's doing with private planes and that he needs them to compete.

I'm surprised nobody has offered up their own jet to carry him around.

The campaign (us) can pay for the upkeep. :)

LMAO!

“Romney has tweeted about his pension for flying commercial on low-cost air carrier Southwest Airlines, and in 2010 he flew coach with ABC News’ John Berman.”

I believe the word you’re looking for is “penchant”…Get a dictionary and a thesaurus (and learn how to use them) if you really want to be a writer when you grow up.

Good, well spent ! A Part Of That money was from my donations,,,

And military donations from around the world.

You see, Ron Paul doesn't have access to Air Force 1 like Mr. Obama yet, and must use contribution money to pay all of his expenses, instead of using lobbyist money from deep pocketed special interest groups like all the other candidates.

I'll gladly contribute to the only candidate that will stop the wars and introduce H.R.1098 the competition in money bill.

I only wish I could donate more to reinstate the laws in the Constitution, when Ron Paul becomes the next President.

beesting

I'm glad to see the money is

I'm glad to see the money is being well-used.

I hope he spends

a million more, we need him spreading the message for the win!!!!

They need to get a mailer opt out box on the donation page. or the contact page. I just emailed them my name and adress and asked to not be included in any mailer. I print out or buy everything I need to spread the idea whos' time has come.

lol

The comments section was fun.

Blogger gets pwnd.

SO WHAT! That is either campaign money or his own money.

It's not TAXPAYER money.

That is why we DONATE to the campaign.

Why doesn't this rotted article mention that Ron Paul gave back $100,000 of his congressional pay to the US Treasury last year and has for years?

The real point of this story was to mention the CUTS proposed by Dr. Paul.

Obviously a big-government socialist state like we've become will rail against any cuts.

Now I'm going to donate more because of this article.

RON PAUL 2012.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

It's not taxpayer money

So I'm not sure what their point is. It's not like he's doing what Hermain Cain is doing buying 7 meals for $1000+ at Ruth Chris.

On top of that, he actually has a day job as a congressmen. So he can't just lay around in Simi Valley, Las Vegas, Iowa, or New Hampshire for days on end.
