The Time is Now
by Kent Snyder | December 29, 2007
The Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary are only a few days away. Wyoming, Michigan, Nevada, South Carolina, Florida and Maine will soon follow. But on February 5th, nearly 20 other states will hold their contests on the same day! That's right. In just six short weeks, the Republican nominee for president will likely be determined.
As Wikipedia explains: "In the Spring of 2007, upwards of 20 states with over half the delegates to the national conventions moved to change their primary dates to 5 February 2008, creating the largest 'Super Tuesday' to date. Newswriters and political pundits have noted that this will dwarf the Super Tuesday primaries in previous cycles, creating a 'Giga Tuesday' or 'Super Duper Tuesday.'"
A year's worth of work is coming down to the next several weeks. Victory can be ours. But we must triple our efforts and triple the amount of money raised right away.
To run radio and television ads in 20 states simultaneously will cost a fortune. Not to mention the cost of voter contact mailings to those 20 states. And then there is the cost of contacting hundreds of thousands of people by phone. All of this, plus other projects, will cost $23 million more than we presently have in the bank.
The progress we've made in 11 months is phenomenal. The dedication, creativity, generosity, and just plain hard work by you and tens of thousands of other Americans have already made history.
But we are not finished making history! First, Ron Paul becomes the Republican nominee. Second, Dr. Paul becomes President Paul. Third, our country becomes America again.
The time is now. Please make your most generous donation today. https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/
Sincerely,
Kent Snyder
Chairman, Ron Paul 2008

I am sorry to say
but I dont understand the official campaign's( not Dr Paul's) ethics. Their dealing with the grassroots is limited to encourage us to donate money. We have obliged every time. They should at least be courteous enough to give some feed back and answer our concerns.
In any case, right now it makes sense to feed the grassroot efforts for the early primaries. They are more likely to be effective.
FEC Regulations?
I don't precisely understand what your concern is, but I suspect that campaign finance law is a major consideration on the campaign's mind and that no hint of impropriety is shown.
Why still no South Carolina TV ads?
How was the broke Huckster able to get airtime here in SC roughly 2 weeks ago, but still no ads for Ron Paul? Fortunately, here in SC, some group I never heard of has simultaneously been running ads that have skewered the Huckster to a crisp. (They show video of him campaigning to extract more tribute from his poor subjects in Arkansas. The ads run what seems to be every 15 or 20 minutes on all 3 channels, all day long. I know a couple of warmongers who had thought the Huckster was their man, but no more. They're now really confused.) Still, it's baffling that he was able to get his propaganda on air so quickly, unless he simply received an advance from the beast itself.
Does anyone know when our ads are going to air in SC?
BTW, I agree. Take the federal matching funds. That's why people voluntarily elected to donated it on their tax returns.
I think they are holding until IA,NH
I think Fred is going to drop out on Friday morning when he comes in next to last. That helps open SC for Ron.
That helps open SC for Ron. I'm a native SC and did some politics down there.
Ron can definently win CD 1 (Charleston/Myrtle Beach) ,2(Lexington) and or 3 (Aiken).
I think 4 (Greenville), 5(Sumter), and 6(Majority Minority) are tougher.
I think it is smart the national campaign to prioritize Nevada first. Hopefully Romney is falling apart by then. I would assume he is our bigest competition in Nevada.
The campaign is doing a great job
TV and radio ads work, period. The ads they have been running are pretty good, as good as or better than the other candidates mostly.
If you have already donated several times, and feel like the campaign is making unreasonable demands on you for money, don't worry. You have done your part early when it mattered most, and no one is expecting any more from you.
The Dec. 16th money bomb had over 30,000 new donors to the campaign, with an average donation of around $100. The campaign is also attracting new supporters daily. These are the people the campaign is trying to draw on for more funds. A lot of these people will be happy to throw in a few hundred more as they see the campaign gain momentum.
$23 million may sound like a lot, but believe me, people felt the same way in October when they had raised $5 million in the 3rd quarter, and the campaign was asking for another $12 million. It seemed like a lot at the time, but we smashed that goal.
apply for federal matching funds
there is your 23 mil
Snyder needs to show some results.
The question is not, raising the 23 million. What concerns me is how capable is the Snyder led campaign of effectively utilizing it. What have we got for our current 20 mil., a bunch of second rate radio and tv spots in Iowa and NH that leave one wondering what 10th grader produced them. Come on people, 99% of the exposure and support that RP enjoys was created by us on the grass roots level; from letter writing, blimp flying, sign waving, canvassing, and money bombing, It was not generated by the official campaign. For months now I have been concerned that the offical campaign was in over its head. I do not believe that Kent Snyder has ever had a coherent plan on how to win a single state let alone the nomination. His staff seems incapable of independently organizing successful fund raising events or effectively spending the funds after they have been handed to them.
Hey, I may be wrong. I guess we will find out very soon. If RP can place third or better in Iowa, I have no doubt that the money will roll in. If Iowa and NH are disappointments, why give Snyder more money to misspend, the funds will be better used on the grassroot level. From my point of view it is long past time for Kent to show some results or find someone who can.
Let me agree with you generally,
before you get attacked and marginalized by others.

The first 5 million supporters of Dr. Paul are 'early adopters.' The next 10 million will require a modified approach.
and seconded
Agreed. If the barrages of slick ads and annoying phone calls were working, then why are the poll numbers still so low (yeah, I know the polling process is flawed and polls old Republican diehards exclusively--but guess what, that was the audience that the 'wonderful' ads were supposed to convert). Guess they're NOT working.
I am extremely grateful for all the superhuman efforts by the paid staff and unpaid. But I'm offended by the call for 23 million when everyone has already given so much and gotten so little in return. John McCain almost imploded when his campaign manager blew through 10 million recklessly. The idea that this campaign can't address SuperTuesday without adding 23 million bucks to the existing 19 million is just crazy, especially when there is rabid grassroots support on the ground. The grassroots have invested a huge amount of money in signs and travel and videos and letters and calls and blimps and even high-profile ads, not to mention paying for campaign literature, t-shirts, hats, etc out of pocket. How many additional million of in-kind supplies and labor has this amounted to? Add that to the total before you consider a request for more cash.
In return for all this support, the official campaign is (A) apparently doing a pretty darn good job of scheduling RP to speak in increasingly more visible places (I don't know how much of that is the media reaching out, but I suspect it's the result of hard work on the media relations bunch); and (B) is throwing money at ads, auto-calls, and flyers in two states. And now, convinced that money just appears from the net community whenever requested, their budget for more of this has bloated to blue-sky proportions. You don't just multiply a budget that's not working by x-number of states and expect victory.
I'm sorry, I think it's clear the grassroots have done a better job of stewardship of our hard-earned dollars. Headquarters needs to re-assess this campaign, course correct a bit, buy some new ads and use them very carefully, and use ingenuity and creativity like the grass-roots has been doing. If Huckleberry can run a successful campaign on a shoestring, what are we doing, financing a Romney style campaign with only a few percentage points to show for it?
THis all ends in 6 weeks
we need a 15M dollar day soon...
The bottom line is if RP finishes 3rd or below through super tuesday its over.... Unfortunately, everything is spead up, catering to the bigger names.
Trevor we need to advertise it as the final money bomb!
23M or bust!
I respectfully disagree
I respectfully disagree.
I think it really begins in six weeks. We hope we win in Iowa and NH, but if we do not; with the Fox/Republican Party Fiasco scaring the souls of Paul supporters --- you will see a movement for a 4th party run (Bloomberg will be third party) after Feb 5th.
So save your signs.
This doesn't end until March 5th
even if RP has some 4th-5th place finishes.

we need to understand
Radio & TV needs to be put in place well before it actually airs... IF super tuesday will make or break us, we need to bull rush the donations now... id rather get 20M now and 0 donations for the month of March.
I will not support this particular effort
and I am very concerned again about the Official Campaign's tactics.

I'm donating to the LA Call Center and calling Iowans myself.

What are our options?
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/18545
Come together and form as ONE
We can do 23 million.
We each have our individual parts to play in this campaign. If you pass out slim jims, triple your efforts, be more efficient..
If you sign wave, make them 3x as big and effective... Invite 3 more people..
If you are in a meetup, become the most active in your meetup...
We are setting 'brushfires of freedom in the minds of men'..
We are 'ONE' that can achieve $23 million in 23 days, along with the increasing momentum building up to and after the Iowa primary and beyond.. Let's form together

piece of cake just like the first 20 mil, we'll just have to tighten our belts a little, bring in new recruits and explain how impotant it is to donate as much as possible to Rons campaign..................................

Take the matching funds. They are donations, not taxes
I want Dr Paul to have mine!
HAVE A CONTEST! "States compete"
Conduct a friendly competition to raise $50,000,000.00.
50 States...$50,000,000.00
Challenge all 50 states into seeing who can raise the most money for Ron Pauls campaign. Someone within the campaign can monitor the donations state by state and list them on a day to day or 48 hour basis.
Create a little competition from around the country. Afterall, Dr. Paul advocates "States Rights"...the states in essence will compete according to their own decisions.
Hey...if you don't have cash, share the gospel of Paul...Freedom.
Appeal To UAW
I've seen a couple UAW locals supporting Obama but, Dr. Paul's stance on Trade Agreements is best. If we could find a way to reach Union memebers effectively, I think there would be alot of new support and the money that follows.
Vote Fraud!
I'm just throwing out there my concern of vote fraud. It seems the people who runs watchthevote . com have for months tried to reach out to the campaign staff without success, which makes me uncertain of a lot of things. It is just as important as making money as we all know the polls will prove wrong on elections.

That's nice!
I suggest you "throw it out" with the trash. Or maybe even a pertinent thread would be a better place.
REMINDER: this thread is about fundraising. Thank you.

Trash
I disagree that my comment has a connection with trash but i see it might not fit in with the post. Kent Snyder is part of the campaign so therefore i felt like "throwing it out" right here after i read the post. I didn't mean to step on your web policing tendency nerve.
Thank you for your response

Sometimes I wonder about the Campaign staff...
I am a Ron Paul fanatic, but the way in which the "Campaign" asks for money astounds me.
I also wonder about their planning. I feel it's important to start out well, but I would suggest a plan that also allows Ron Paul to continue beyond the initial few states. To me, using the money creatively is much more important than going toe to toe with the corporate candidates. Hell, I'm so fed up with the TV, I wouldn't even care if they scraped the television campaign and did something much more original.
For example, they could hold a huge set of rallies in the upcoming states. Use some of the money to bring in high-powered bands and performers...and even give out door prizes! If they gave away ten new cars at each rally that would cost $200,000 or about 1/2 of what Romney is spending on ads in Iowa each day. And people would come in droves! In addition, people would be talking about it everywhere! Remember when Oprah gave away some cars? We could easily fill stadium after stadium! This would be an example of thinking outside the box!
Ron Paul represents freedom. Let's get some free thinking going on and use the money we have wisely. Then more people will want to participate and the money can flow like a river!

This is a DULL revolution. The folks in NH are so sick of what I call the "Angry man " ads. Judging by the polls, they have not worked very well.

Setting your sights low!
Why would we want Paul to accept a LIMIT on the amount of fundraising he can do. Do you really want to HOLD HIM DOWN?
You are kidding yourself if you think there are no strings attatched to government cheese. Please do some research!

Take a flying leap!
How about Kent Snyder doing a little more to help raise money. 23 mil in 23 days?… Get real. If by some miracle we came up with 23 mil, two weeks later Kent Snyder would be asking for 50 million. I'm tired of eating Flavo pancake mix and noodles in order to feed the campaign coffers. I am totally broke…Really. That's just the way it is. How can Huckabee be a 37% front runner in the polls with 5 million raised and $10 million in debt with little support?
Hey! I got an idea! Take the 20 mil matching funds and we'll kick in the rest. It's OUR tax money… Take it! Otherwise it will just be flushed down the Iraqi war toilet. 20 million is NOTHING PEOPLE!!!!!!!!! Think of it as an investment when the flipping war machine is put out of business. I've said enough. I'm pissed.

Matching Funds and PACs
I think if we ask Dr. Paul to take the matching funds he most likely will.
But we will have to ask him to, or most likely he will not. People smarter than me can figure out how to approach that subject but the time is short and the race is long. To my limited understanding there is only Dr.Paul's PAC and no 527's or other alternate fund raising vehicles set up at this time. If Ken needs money now I suggest he take the matching funds, and we plan for the future and get organized. The MLK money bomb is a great idea, I just feel perhaps we should have more than one alternative. We do not want to be just a one trick pony.
Perhaps we need to educate ourselves in all areas. The money bombs have gotten us the recognition they were intended for, however what doesn't seem to make sense today may make a lot of sense tomorrow. Google PAC, Google 527. The difference is interesting but noteworthy. Since Dr.Paul already has a PAC, http://www.libertypac.net/ my assumption is we need to consider setting up initially, with the ability to fund when needed 527 groups. This is a tricky area legally because the 527 group must be issue vs. candidate driven. eg: Bring our troops home, Restore the Constitution, Seal the Border now, and other issue related, but not candidate specific topics. The campaign can not do this, we have to.
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/527_group over $400 million was spent last Presidential election cycle through 527 groups.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree, if enough of us RP
I agree, if enough of us RP supporters put some pressure on him to take the matching funds, I think he'll be able to do it with a clear conscience. If enough of us say no, don't do it, he will not. I think we should though. After all, we've spent so much time and money to help him get elected, he'd feel obligated to do all he could for us so he'd have the best chance of winning possible.
