Warren Buffett, "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,"

Warren Buffett, "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the
land...all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

*Congressional Reform Act of 2011*

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for
any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor,
not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term's), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

Senators and Representatives

Senators and Representatives shouldn't be employees of the federal government, they should be employees (servants) of their respective States and the States should control their individual compensation and benefits. This would effectively place the responsibility of the Senators and the Representatives back in the hands of the People of each of the States. Congress would no longer have the power to write their own checks, create their own patronage systems and benefit packages.

"We are not a nation, but a union, a confederacy of equal and sovereign States" John C. Calhoun

In the beginning , the founding fathers represented the states.

We have lost our way. What is good historic material about your suggestion?

It seems quite clear, having state representatives supported or paid by their respective states (or lower jurisdictions) makes sense.

I've received this same list of drivel...

...in my e-mail about 5 or 6 times the last few years.

COMPLETE waste of time, ain't gonna happen. Wish I could recover the time lost from my life by clicking onto and reading this completely useless topic.

Not to mention the e-mail time wasted on...

Buffett says if the federal government spends too much we throw all of them out, including the ones who voted against all the spending.

What this does is give Buffett a competitive advantage, he gets to find dishonest people to run by giving them a piece of the loot while throwing out any good dissent.

A pig in a poke! Warren buffett is a major collector of bailouts

Why would Warren Buffett say such disconnected nonsense?

He full well knows how to advocate for bailouts & be first in line to receive them. To wit: Wells Fargo, Goldman Sachs, more recently B of A. A card carrying member of the Fed.

Amiable persona. Cannot picture a more amiable pickpocket. Tax from the poor; tax benefit to Buffett & the Boyz.

Please afford yourself minimal research before responding: DailyPaul Warren Buffett Bailout

Be done searching him in less than a minute. How many hundreds of billions must taxpayers tithe?

The more honesty our dinner guests proclaim to have, the more we hasten to count our silverware.

I thought

I thought Buffet would end the deficit in 5 min by bailing our government out with his own cash :P

From his collection of "Legal Tender" from banking "investment"

When our government called the Oracle of Omaha for advice, he give it freely, that he may receive "legal tender" privileges in kind. Following phone logs of government official requires a minute or two to catch your breath. Then you may realize this seemingly kind man receives hundreds of billions of dollars for his gracious answering questions about where our tax dollars should go. To wit: call just before concocting that cockamamie plan to bailout the banks in September, 2008. As a major owner of Wells Fargo, he saw fit to encourage the taxpayer bailout of Wells Fargo & the Boyz. Though not a real bank at the time, he learned Goldman was on the short list. He locked in a golden preferred stock option for a few billion. Pay Warren now; pay him later. What you do not pay him, he can have Wells Fargo, & now Goldman (a trusted name created as an emergency bank in their time of dire need), just make up a line of credit backed by your good name. You pay now, later & forever. Warren accepts MasterCard™ (Wells Fargo™), American Express™, & since his most recent investment... Bank of America™(VISA™).

Warren "Bailout Buffet" Buffett - taxpayer sponsored, all he can eat.

And the president

?

Just to let you know, I only recieved this from a friend,

My friend must of thought it was a good idea, I think its a Joke

why is it a joke? I think

why is it a joke? I think this is good. I don't care for Buffett but this would be a good way to hold the CON gress accountable.

I say joke because

I say that because, anything limiting pay to congress, doesn't have much hope to pass, plus I also don't see were it would really help the deficit.

I do agree that it would at least help us get some more principled members in congress, instead of the ones just seeking all the lobby money, and many more benefits. I especially don't think it's fair that a congress member receives 15K per month for life after only serving two terms.

Maybe this would be the part that would lower the deficit, if members voted with the constitution more instead of the other way?

I think you are missing the

I think you are missing the point. Buffett is telling the American people to put pressure on the congress. Ron Paul ahs ben telling us lately that he will not get any of his changes made with out the people demanding that the congresscritters do what their constituents want. Buffett is going past the idiots in DC and staight to the voters who will tell the idiots in DC what to do.

exactly

the question came to my mind within 3 seconds of reading the first sentence

'how do you think a congress that can't pass a budget will pass a law that fires themselves when they can't pass a budget'? thus arrive at the conclusion (once again, many many times over) that buffet is a f'ing clown.

and i have a friend that absolutely worships buffet.. just makes it that much more irritating on a personal level.

This ends no deficits. It

This ends no deficits. It just lowers pay for under 800 people. Big Whup. Not a bad idea,, but does squat. If he thinks it will end a deficit, he is not really Warren Buffet, because he could not be that dumb and still have made money.

Actually in the long run it

Actually in the long run it would solve the problem. If those retards in congress are held accountable most if not all the problems we have today would not have come. Its a good place to start.

Disagree with that one,

Disagree with that one, Sierra..the President does not seem to need to get Congress's approval to spend money the Feds just print for him..

the Congress has to vote to

the Congress has to vote to fund the wars. if they defund the wars the Pres can't get the money to keep fighting them.

I see many times, including

I see many times, including his latest speech, where this President who should be impeached says he can go around Congress any time he wants.

shut up buffet

how do you think a congress that can't pass a budget will pass a law that fires themselves when they can't pass a budget?

you have proven yourself a clown many many times over, warren buffet

just learn and be quiet
