We Will Hold a Speech Competition!

From Clyde Cleveland - Author of Common Sense Revisited, Libertarian candidate for governor in IA, and resident of Jefferson County, IA the one county Ron Paul WON in 2008.

"One great thing we did that we recommend to all the campaigns. We held a speech competition a week before the caucus and we had nine contestants participate. We went out of our way to recruit young people to participate. The two winners were Samara Burnes who is 21 years old, and Monty Congden a 28 year old military veteran. Both of them attended the local public high school. They absolutely blew people away at the caucus, both of them had many people approach them to let them know that their speeches tipped them over to Ron Paul. The speech competition also served to completely energize all the supporters who attended. We blew it by not getting their speeches taped for youtube. We have asked them if they will let us video their speeches so hopefully we will have them up for you soon."

There were other reasons they won in Jefferson: 1) good demographics 2) good organization and outreach with the meetup groups

However I think the speeches did wonders! If we can replicate this with all 1,784 precincts we would be in great shape!

Hi JD,

I took a look at the script, it still mentions the October money bomb. Are you guys gonna update that or is it better just to skip that and mention the 11/11/11 money bomb? Also, if they give you their address and we write it down, is there a way to then submit that address?

We updated the script. You can always mention the 11-11 moneybomb.

Unfortunately you have to write down the person's address separately along with the person's name and phone #. We want to make sure we have the address so we have know which precinct the person is in. You can either email that info to: info@rp2012.org or enter it in an online database we can get you access to. Just email us for details. Thx!
