Rick Perry: The Best Little Whore in Texas (Rolling Stone)

Perry's campaign is still struggling to recover from the kind of spectacular, submarine-at-crush-depth collapse seldom seen before in the history of presidential politics. The governor went from presumptive front-runner to stammering talk-show punch line seemingly in the speed of a single tweet, rightly blasted for being too incompetent even to hold his own in televised debates with a half-bright pizza salesman like Herman Cain and a goggle-eyed megachurch Joan of Arc like Michele Bachmann. But such superficial criticisms of his weirdly erratic campaign demeanor don't even begin to get at the root of why we should all be terrified of Perry and what he represents. After all, you have to go pretty far to stand out as a whore and a sellout when you come from a state that has produced such luminaries in the history of political corruption as LBJ, Karl Rove and George W. Bush. But Rick Perry has managed to set a scary new low in the annals of opportunism, turning Texas into a swamp of political incest and backroom dealing on a scale not often seen this side of the Congo or Sierra Leone.

Dang. If anyone reads it,

Dang. If anyone reads it, that man is toast. I thought he was just dumb but he is one of the evil ones, for sure..

Wow! THAT was an education!

I just thought the guy was stupid. I had no idea he was such a greedy sociopath! Holy Smoke

The saddest part is that this

The saddest part is that this is normal in Texas. The politicians just think that there's nothing wrong about accepting money from lobbyists to pass laws that favor them. No one here thinks anything at all about it and of course local news outlets are thoroughly statist and hardly ever question the government.

Disappointed to see this up on the DP's RSS feed

Calling someone a "little whore" is totally unprofessional, and I think it is counterproductive to stoop to this level, by promoting that kind of journalism.

Until the Ron Paul movement upholds a new standard of kindness and dignity, like Ron Paul himself, we are handicapping ourselves and limiting our potential. It's LOVE Revolution, let's try and remember.

Would You Lessen The Bad Behavior By Calling Him An Opportunist

Tho thousand years ago a man lived who eventually change the course of history. He called a spade a spade and we shouldn't do any different. A WHORE IS A WHORE, A FORNICATOR, AN ADULTERER. A CROOK IS A CROOK a man who rapes a child for sexual gratification is a PEDOPHIL A man who does the same to another mans rear end is called a SODOMITE, hence, the name of the town in ancient times that performed such deviant behavior 'SODOM'

I don't want to lessen the bad behavior by calling it a less harsh term. Do you?

Perry is not a whore, though.

Even if he were, to call him a "prostitute" would be the professional journalistic term. Rolling Stone is a reputable magazine, and crass language like this pouring out of the mainstream is the sign of a society that's rotting at its core.

If the criticism of Perry is accurate, that's harsh enough. People with discernment will see it. Those who don't won't be swayed by mere name calling.

If he walks like a..., talks like a..., takes payments like a...

Then Perry meets the classic definition, and not by a "little"!

I found in my old Noah Webster's 1828 dictionary, this:

"WHOREDOM, n. Horedom.

1. Lewdness; fornication; practice of unlawful commerce with the other sex. It is applied to either sex, and to any kind of illicit commerce.

2. In Scripture, idolatry; the desertion of the worship of the true God, for the worship of idols."

I think, sometimes, we tend to avoid using proper words to accurately describe someone this odious.

For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst and provide for it. - Patrick Henry

the article is written from the perspective of a Bill Maher

Christian hater. I'm not into PC, but I do believe in basic respect and professionalism.

I have my own copy of Noah's dictionary and Perry would definitely appear under the word Crook under the "out of conformity with the will of God" clause.

The title was borrowed from a play

"The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas", was about a group of women who carried on a local Texas "tradition" that dated back over a hundred years. It is based on a story by Larry L. King that was inspired by the real-life Chicken Ranch in La Grange, Texas.

"The Chicken Ranch was as an illegal but tolerated brothel in the U.S. state of Texas that operated from 1905 until 1973. It was located in Fayette County about 2.5 miles east of downtown La Grange. The business was established by Miss Jessie Williams, and was the basis for the 1978 Broadway musical and later movie The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas."

"In 1905, Jessie Williams, known as "Miss Jessie," bought a small house along the banks of the Lower Colorado River and opened a brothel. Williams maintained a good relationship with local law enforcment and ensured that her house was respectable by excluding drunkards and admitting politicians and lawmen." (Wikipedia)

I gave this background to show that Taibbi's play on the play's title is historically and literally fit to apply to Perry, whether or not you believe it appropriate to post on the front page here.

As for the disparaging of Perry's profession of Christian faith, I believe that the occasions to blaspheme were provided by Perry himself, and only reported by Rolling Stone because Christianity Today wouldn't.

For my part, whatever anguish of spirit it may cost, I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst and provide for it. - Patrick Henry

I agree.

Unprofessional and dispararaging of the very people the campaign is trying to recruit right now.
It would be best if the person who posted this article would at least rename the title to something like "Rolling Stone publishes a controversial article." And then the comment say something like "while disparaging to Christians the link to the following aritcle provides an amazing expose of the corruption that is rife in Texas politics."

This keeps the Daily Paul neutral to article.

Completely Agree!

I posted the article yesterday evening thinking it would be read by the "late night" DP viewing audience. I'm surprised to find it this morning on the front page.

I liked this article

I hope it helps signal the death knell for Perry's campaign.

It also called out all the tea party charlatans who have opportunistically latched on to the movement we started.

"But Rick Perry has managed

"But Rick Perry has managed to set a scary new low in the annals of opportunism, turning Texas into a swamp of political incest and backroom dealing on a scale not often seen this side of the Congo or Sierra Leone."

As a lifelong Texas whose family business has been all but destroyed by lobbying money being paid to our legislators and a state agency I can testify that this line from that article is absloutely true but it was that way under Bush too.

interesting article

aside from the frat house boner references which are typical of Rolling Stone.

This cracked me up: "In 1998, Perry was elected lieutenant governor alongside George W. Bush, serving with the kind of distinction that made his boss look like Winston Churchill. Perry reportedly zoned out during a series of breakfast meetings that Bush held with top Texas politicians. "Sometimes, to pass the time, he would file his nails," The New Republic reported."

I've always known Perry

is a whore to the highest payer but, Matt spelled it out pretty clearly for all to know. I do not; however, like his short jab at Ron. It was unwarranted and untrue. On the brightside, Matt could never write a truthfull article accusing Ron of being a sellout. Now that he has aired Perry's dirty laundry..how about an article on Mittens, Cain, Bachmann and Gingrich that is begging to be written?

"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is argument of tyrants. It is the creed of slaves." William Pitt in the House of Commons November 18, 1783
"I have one word for you...predator drones. Oh, you think I'm kidding?" Obombya

what are you referring to? Only saw this on pg1

"At the time, the GOP's Tea Party base was splitting right down the middle, divided between the intellectual libertarians headed by fellow Texan and original Tea Partier Ron Paul, and the "values"-oriented sect steered by the Bible-thumping likes of Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum."

are you referring to this mention of Ron Paul?

While I fully understand the need to reveal the truth about Rick

Perry and I fully supported Medina in her run, articles with hater like slants along the lines of Bill Maher should never make it to the front page of the Daily Paul. I don't have a problem with thumping my Bible while extolling the Christ like virtues of Ron Paul.
We need things that bring us together.
Medina should compile an article composed of all her factual oppo research on Perry and then make that the front page article. Leave the anti-Christian stuff out of it.

for me

I personally love outside opinions. Seeing someone not worried about being perfectly politically correct was and is a very welcome thing. As long as they have the goods to back it up and aren't completely baseless, then no matter what it is, their opinion becomes more valid to me.

In fact, these hater like slants made me rofl so hard that I wonder if most articles are written with this much content to back them up. I'm not a reader of the Rolling Stones but if this is their norm I just might have to add them to the list and start reading them.

Don't get me wrong though, yes love is the answer. It's just articles like this, while perhaps not perfectly written, are still so full of real goodies that even if the tone is not ur style, the article is still worth ur while ;)

I mean, even if a person knows next to nothing about Perry, those 'hate slants' should be easy to see as becoming real and thus effective or perhaps even true when you read the whole article. As I already knew how bad Perry was, I loved those opinion parts - they were awwwwesome imo

I love seeing evil get its due

I agree with you. The

I agree with you. The article was garbage. It had a mix of a few truths mixed with inaccuracies, deception, and mostly just plain old discussing smear tactics.

I think it is worth while to go over there and make some comments about how we are Ron Paul supporters, but find that the article was trash. After all - what they are allowed to get away with in smearing Rick Perry, they will do to Ron Paul.

The article is definitely not anything to send to a Perry supporter. It would rightly be rejected out of hand.

Let stand for respectfully exposing failures of candidates.
