Paul would cut federal departments, forgive debt ( "Just the facts, Ma'am" reporting. )

No one can accuse Republican Ron Paul of being an incremental candidate.

When it comes to solutions for the nation’s ills, the 76-year-old Texas congressman thinks big, whether it’s slashing the federal budget, bringing American troops home from foreign wars or eliminating the Federal Reserve.

For the three-time presidential candidate, they all revolve around a simple premise: returning the federal government to only what’s permitted under the Constitution.

“The real goal is to change the nature of our government and make it more constitutional, and not accept the notion that government should forever grow and live on taxes and inflation,” Paul said during an interview with The Telegraph’s editorial board on Friday.

“It’s coming apart because it’s not working.”
