Ron Paul: DO YOU want TO BE OUR president?Submitted by Minarchist on Sat, 10/29/2011 - 19:18
My wife and I had dinner with some libertarian leaning conservatives last night, and their opinion of Ron Paul was unanimous: They agree with what he says but he's not going to be taken seriously because Ron Paul is not taking himself seriously.
Oh sure, he's serious about his campaign... his campaign for liberty. But he's not serious about his campaign for the presidency... that's the perception.
One guy said that when you look at everyone else who is running you can tell that each personally WANTS to be president... but not Ron Paul. He doesn't convey that at all. What he conveys is wanting to spread the message.
After sleeping on it and thinking about it all day, I've concluded that in order to win, Ron Paul has to look deeply within himself and decide. Months ago he decided to run for president. Now he needs to decide if he WANTS to be president. And if he decides he wants to be president, then he needs to figure out what he needs to do to win. Not "do well". But WIN. And then he needs to convey this with every inch of his body and voice every time he's in a debate or giving a speech or in an interview.
He needs to stop sounding like a professor teaching about liberty and start sounding like a salesman selling Ron Paul for president. If you agree, please vote for this post. Maybe with enough votes Ron Paul will hear that this is what we want to say to him.
Ron Paul selling Ron Paul for President is what I need to see. That's what Republicans need to see. That's what America needs to see.
If he would do that, he would be taken seriously. If not, then not. Everything else is details, but until and unless Ron Paul kicks up his presidential campaign to be serious about winning, he's just going to remain a side show.
Even in the most recent interviews every time he's asked about what he would do about this or that, he usually answers in vague theoretical observations, not in specific plans of action. Only when pressed does he get specific, sometimes. Ron Paul does not come across as someone seriously thinking about being in the oval office and the kinds of things he would do once there.
Even in his speech announcing his plan, he did not go out there and sell the plan and himself.
Ron Paul: DO YOU WANT TO BE OUR PRESIDENT? IF SO, LET US KNOW!!!
