Take the $20 mil. They are donations, not taxes.

And I want mine to got to Dr Paul.
Anyone else want to pledge their donation to Paul too?

This is a duplicate, and unnecessary thread.
This mostly pointless argument is already going on at this Daily Paul thread:
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/15738
There's over 200 comments on that thread already, which is probably 100 times more than the subject deserves. And this isn't the only time it's been argued here at Daily Paul... In fact, this has been discussed to death before.
Sure, it's fine and proper for us to offer our opinions. But please don't make this into a big nasty issue (again). Let's all get some perspective...
Please just let this subject go, let Dr. Paul and his trusted advisers make the right decision based on all the information at their disposal (most of which we know little or nothing about), and let's concentrate on the productive things WE can be doing.
Remember,
new people are being drawn into the campaign at a rapid rate and this will increase significantly if we do well in the first few primaries. It will skyrocket if we win the nomination. Our fundraising can easily double each quarter. We don't want to limit ourselves by accepting matching funds.
New Hampshire and Ecuador
Ever since the 1040 donation thing started, I have checked the
box because of several reasons. One of them being that by checking that box I get to have some control over where my tax dollars go.
The fund also levels the playing field a little.
It's just too bad that most people don't check the box.
I think it's perfectly OK for Dr. Paul to take the matching funds.
Seems that a grassroots candidate is just what that fund was created for!
How does this "level" anything???
It gives money to minor-league crooks like Lenora Fulani & Al Sharpton, but it's NOT a way to level the playing field at all. And even with this wonderful new control, does it really feel THAT good to underwrite welfare for obese-government-expanding politicians??

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

If Ron Paul wins the nomination,
he may need to raise and spend a LOT to beat Hillary. Notice that Hillary is not taking matching funds. She doesn't want to limit how much she can raise and spend in the general election. Ron Paul shouldn't limit himself either.
New Hampshire and Ecuador
the general election is a seperate decision,
I can not donate any more for the primary. I am maxed. Plus I suspect that the reason Dr Paul's donations average $100 is 'cause most of us are broke. Are you willing to lose this chance due to running out of money? That is how they keep us as serfs. God bless you all if you have the ability to contribute more. My guess is if you could, you already would have.
They Are TAXES
It's just a way of designating your TAXES to another unconstitutional program. If I could direct mine to a specific candidate, I might take that option, but since they go into a general fund for politicans who want to destroy America, I never choose to earmark my taxes for that purpose.
If Rep. Paul doesn't take his pension, he certainly won't take matching funds from taxpayers.
the 1040 clearly states "would you like to DONATE $3"
I did.
of your TAXES
If it was a donation, the choice would be to donate it or to KEEP it yourself. The choice is to donate it to the presidential campaign (of ALL the candidates) or to donate it to the general fund. It's TAXES either way. It's simply a way to earmark which socialist, unconstitutional, big-gov't program you want to steal your money.
Dr. Paul doesn't take his pension, he won't take matching funds from the taxpayers.
Right below that
It also makes the claim that this won't effect other fiscal issues. I don't recall exactly how they word it, but it's a lie if you ask me. This is stolen money, Dr. Paul's not gonna take it, and if you want someone who probably WOULD take take the loot while talking about "the people," may I suggest the Kucinich campaign??
