Obama Targets and Assassinates a 16 Year-old from Colorado

Why is this not a campaign issue? This boy obviously was on the assassination list...he likely would not be made to stand trial as an adult in CO but our president can kill him without charges?

This fundamental and historic. It needs to be a campaign issue at least if not a national outrage on it's own.

Two weeks after the U.S. killed American citizen Anwar Awlaki with a drone strike in Yemen — far from any battlefield and with no due process — it did the same to his 16-year-old son, Abdulrahman al-Awlaki, ending the teenager’s life on Friday along with his 17-year-old cousin and seven other people.

If any of you haven't read

If any of you haven't read Glenn Greenwald's lateest on this, it's brilliant:

Good article....

which is a rarity on a site such as Salon.

There was another article on how Progressives can "save" the country...by spending more. UGH

A signature used to be here!

Any Doubt Now

Any Doubt Now that we live under the rule of a Dictator? He is totally out of control and so is the military industrial complex. Lord help us!

It's the GLOBAL "war on terror"...

...and the USA is "leading the charge"...

These killings are intentional, atrocious, and now public(global) POLICY!

I am only reminded of the story of John Peter Zenger through all of this...the story of how "sedition libel"(criticism of the government, competing INDEPENDENT media via John Locke-type reasonings and criticism for governments taking it too far) became TREASON as our revolution was taking shape even as early as the 1730's.

It, our criticisms, are going to be paraded before lawyers, so-called national security advisers, and career politicians; and our fate will be left up to a handful of judicial activists in black robes!

These killings(which will increase); are condoned, dismissed, and justified by the majority of a dumbed-down(professing, predominately Christian conservatives) BECAUSE they are deceived by a bunch Judeo-Christian intellectual mind-twisting theocrats, operating in a church-state atmosphere/culture, with the LUXURY of a powerful media engine(and complicit money-serving clergy).

Independent, self-studied, interested and patriotically concerned Americans like us are already the "enemies of the state"! Many in this movement know economics and sound money, many of us know the perils of organized religion and a Marxist free public education system; and another smaller segment KNOW more about the a sincere "Christian"(moral) approach to what William Penn called "good government" than these Tea Party hijackers!!!

They sit on high and READ what we write; they increase the width of the chasm between "We The People" and our control over our government; and they have a great many "weapons" at their disposal for certain, that they can flip like a "kill switch" to buffet our dissent so that the masses never get to where we are as learned, discerning, and activist free thinkers who seek only to SAVE this Republic from liars and thieves for our posterity.

We are the self-less; they are the selfish - it's just that simple...but they have crossed the line of OPEN murder of its own citizens...and they are getting away with it because the people fear their government(and have reason to!)

Ron Paul in 2012, or a peaceful revolution will become an impossibility; and that's just history repeating itself, because THEY simply don't know when to quit!

State Sponsored Terrorism

This is state sponsored terrorism!

If Castro sent assassination drones to execute alleged dissidents in Florida, as if dissension were a crime but even so without evidence, trial, or even charges, and killed children and others in the process how would the US government respond? Would they give him a commendation and say "job well done?" They would condemn the act as state sponsored terrorism - an attempt at censorship via assassination. They would be correct.

You don't understand. When

You don't understand. When THEY do it it's wrong and evil. When WE do it it's different.

So true

Your portrayal of the mindset of so many is so simplistically accurate. It reminds me of a quote from George Orwell:

Actions are held to be good or bad not on their own merits but according to who does them and there is almost no kind of outrage—torture … the use of hostages … forced labor, mass deportations … imprisonment without trial … forgery … assassination … the bombing of civilians … which does not change its moral color when committed by our side. … The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, but he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.

Liberals know, and don't care

This should be a campaign issue, I'm sure it will turn up when the GOP nominates. Regardless, it should be all over the news right now - not even as a campaign issue. This is insane, but I mentioned it to a liberal friend who simply dismissed it and parroted one of the ostensible benefits of Obama's healthcare proposal, which was it will save money. Not only is this completely wrong, and I corrected him, but also the attitude is disgusting. It's too hard for the electorate to consider that the gov't isn't always looking out for them, when anyone with an elementary education should realize that gov't oppression was the cause of the American revolution, so it's a huge factor.

I don't think they will

The republicans agree with the death list...and wouldn't care if a 16 year old is on it.

Most of my friends are

Most of my friends are foxnews conservatives and they cheered for this.

Something to think about

Awlaki himself (the father) was executed for speech crimes. No evidence has been presented that Awlaki was directly involved in any act of violence. Did they kill him because he was an effective critic of U.S. foreign policy? Chew on that for a while.

Personally, I don't believe the government was really concerned about Awlaki or his son. It's our liberties they were after, and our liberties they murdered. Of course, they established the precedent on someone who had already been demonized. The masses practically begged for the government to violate Awlaki's rights, and by extension their own, and cheered after the deed was done.

They must have been feeling invincible when they decided to take out Awlaki's kid, too. They wanted to see how far they could go without drawing the public's ire. They murdered an innocent teenager and nobody noticed, much less cared.

Now imagine what else they know they can get away with.

It's happened before....

In Waco Texas. Lots of kids were killed by tanks and machine guns and fire and all of that. In a few years time nobody will remember or care, if they do already. That is what history shows and all this current boot stomping about losing our rights won't get our rights back.

What we need is Ron Paul or it will be more of the same. That is why this election is so important. The events of the current Obama administration are helping his odds, and if they aren't I don't know what will!

Good point

Kids were targeted in Waco.

Also in Dresen in WWII.

And the Indian wars during the late 1800's

I plan to invite Dennis Kucinich to start the impeachment ball rolling.

When are we going to take the country back?

Do you even need to do it with an election?

Unless Ron Paul gets the

Unless Ron Paul gets the nomination elections are meaningless.

That's not what I meant at all

If Ron Paul doesn't get elected, than what are we, the people, going to do? Just put up with this crap for 4 more years? And 4 more? And what then?

Something needs to be done.

What would you suggest? I

What would you suggest? I honestly don't see any options at all. Getting the rest of the country outraged would be itself a herculean task so great is the apathy and ignorance of the public. And nothing, absolutely nothing can be done or changed without public opnion strongly on your side.

Then we have to solve that

herculean task then. If ron doesn't get elected, we need to brainstorm. I for one am not going to live through a nazi germany.

The Republic was ours to lose

We must restore our own Constitutional Republic. It is the foremost moral calling within our lifetimes on this earth to do so and to do so now. The Republic representing us has transformed into something which would have been utterly unrecognizable only generation ago. If it is not us who resore our Republic, we can not expect our children to succeed in doing so because these weapons and others even more insidious will be inevitably used against our children should they find themselves incited toward the opportunity we ourselves as squanderers cowardly avoid.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead

I'm totally with you in sentiment but I honestly don't think it can be done at ths point. Realistically, and I sincerely hope I'm wrong, the best we can hope for is a Soviet style break up and hope that the feds don't insist on hanging on to their power by force, thus spilling a lot of Americans blood. They won't hold it toether in the end no matter how many of us they kill or imprison and hopefully there will be someone like Gorbachev who saw that shedding blood to keep the Soviet Union together would eventually turn out to be futile. Somehow I dont think America will produce a leader that wise other than Ron Paul.

Borders are of no matter when our master is Corporatism.

What we are squandering is what very well may be our last opportunity to purchase our own freedom.

That price can never be paid in blood but rather only in the diligence of the free.

Is there some good reason

why Ron Paul should not file articles of impeachment over this? Is this not "high crimes and misdemeanors"?

Perhaps the reason is ....

Perhaps the reason is .... Biden?

Trust in God, but tie your camel tight.

It's not like Ron Paul to choose not to defend life because of a political move. I think it's good for someone to bring up charges against the President. I've wondered as well why Ron Paul hasn't taken the opportunity to formally call for impeachment, but I think he is concerned with conflict of interest. If someone else brings it up, he can support it without risking a conflict of interest, since he's basically applying for the job. This would correspond with his statement that he would support it if there were enough support in congress already.

Michael Nystrom's fists can punch through FUD.

I don't see it.

Since when is Dr. Paul afraid of holding an unpopular minority position or of proposing legislation he knows will be defeated? It's his trademark! If impeachment is the right thing to do, why isn't he doing it?

If Obama in impeached, Biden would become President. So where's the conflict of interest for Paul?

Excellent article.

I brought this subject up in class once, and people looked at me like I just ate their pet. Most people don't even think about the wars, and consider anyone questioning the government as mentally unstable.
