The second-best favorite among this crowd was Ron Paul, a congressman from Texas who came in third place after Cain and Romney in The Des Moines Register’s Iowa Poll released this past weekend.
Paul got a big laugh on a quip about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke. Asked what announcement he’d like to hear when Bernanke speaks tomorrow, Paul answered: the announcement of his retirement.
Paul, who has committed to chopping $1 trillion in government spending during his first year in office, said: “You need to cleanse the system. You need to get rid of the mal-investment. You need to get rid of the debt, otherwise you can’t have economic growth.”
