Gingrich names FDR as his choice for Mt. Rushmore!

I saw on some TV report tonight (Ron Paul was excluded of course) a thing where they asked the republican candidates who they might choose as a 5th choice for Mount Rushmore.

Bachmann said Reagan.

I didn't catch too many others, but I did hear with my own ears Gingrich say FDR!

Huh?

I'm still shaking my head about that answer.

It goes to show that THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE between establishment republicans and democrats.

About the only worse answer Gingrich could have given would have been Wilson.

I consider Wilson the worst president ever and FDR the 2nd.

I put Bush Junior 3rd. Yes - even before Obama.

But Gingrich (who is a WAR-MONGER) really showed more of his true color with this answer.

I nominate Ron Paul.

I nominate Ron Paul.

I nominate...

Crazy Horse of the Lakota Sioux. We lied and murdered to get that land and the least we can do is not carve another white man into their sacred mountain.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

amen, but . . .

you are correct that he belongs on there, but not with the others--who don't, and the Sioux wouldn't have wanted the mountain defaced, though it already is--

a conundrum, eh?

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Funny!

And Noot's supporters try to claim he's not an "establishment republican"... But that Romney is!

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

I have a better idea. Let's

I have a better idea. Let's call Newt the new dough boy, bake him, and fork him. Ha

RON PAUL 2012 * Restore America * Bring The Troops Home
http://www.texasuncensored.blogspot.com

Of course he did...

...that's how you know he's the true conservative...derp duh derp : /

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Mt. Rushmore

Lets elect Ron Paul so we could put him on Mt. Rushmore. That would be the only scenario that would work for me. It's a shame that the bad out number the good in this world.

Honestly..

I have my doubts about Newt as much as the next RP supporter but i do like some of what he says and appreciate his great intellect and understanding of history. I mean lets be honest he can articulate things better then anyone else on that stage and always makes a point of owning the moderators lol. He could be saying FDR in that in a historical aspect FDR changed the modern presidency into what it is today, for better or (for the most part) worse he was one of the most influential presidents ever so in that sense how could you keep him out of the debate to be the 5th hypothetical head

Newt does not have a great intellect.

He has a quick mind. Do you know the difference?

Newt has changed what he has said over the last 20 years. Consistent in one thing only. He appreciates a huge, overreaching government.

Post a link to something he said that was so smart.

He has a quick mind, and a persuasive tongue. That does not a great intellect make.

As has been said before...

Newt's manner of speech is what dumb people think smart people sound like. Newt is a cartoon character of a smart person drawn by a moron.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

I have to respectfully really disagree with you Donato7.

If the idea of a spot on Mt. Rushmore was to honor the most "American" of presidents, then FDR would come in about LAST.

Since Gingrich seemingly IS smart enough to know this, it means his ideologies are WRONG.

But let's face it, he is an admitted HAWK. He said so last debate in that many words.

He is a NEO-CON war-monger of the establishment republican type.

They are grooming him to be Romney's running mate.

It's going to be Romney/Gingrich 2012.

That is my guess.

The fix is in and the RNC already has their ticket.

So as Jesse Ventura said last night, Ron Paul is playing this brilliantly for now.

Use the republican stage for all he can now - and accept the Libertarian Party nomination for president in June when the primaries are over.

Then - ANYTHING can happen!

Remember...
Ron Paul 2012 doesn't have to mean Ron Paul (TX-R).

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

Honestly I can see why Newt would say this

I have my doubts about Newt as much as the next RP supporter but i do like some of what he says and appreciate his great intellect and understanding of history. Andrew Jackson was most

Andrew Jackson was most certainly not a supporter of central banking. He fought (and eventually killed) the Second Bank of the United States. I also remember reading that he paid off the national debt while President and fought against the Electoral College. As far as his personal life, I can't comment, but those three things that I listed are enough to make me like Andrew Jackson's presidency.

I'm sure the Native Americans feel differently

Jackson viewed the Native Americans like our current leadership views Arabs.

Think about it. We show up to "liberate" and "spread democracy" through force, death, and pillaging.

The only difference is we took their land and called it our own afterward.

Yep, during his presidency

Yep, during his presidency was the only time the USA was not in debt. Not that it lasted long. :(

"I killed the banks!" lol

As a history professor, Newt must know of FDR's

executive orders to confiscate gold from private citizens and to send Americans of Japanese descent to prison camps.

One can reasonably conclude Newt must approve of those edicts, or he would have chosen a different President to honor.

Dare I say...

Dare I say Gingrich's choice is as lame as FDR's legs!

It was FDR's third leg that Newt admired

:)

I Nominate Obama's Nobel PEACE Prize

Now THERE'S an accomplishment, the world standard, integrity, honesty, fearless stand on principles, a class act, a piece of . . . you decide.

There all in favor...

of taxing me and using the money to make a deity of a politician.

2 of each

They have to die hard individualist and 2 hardcore federalist! I think we need to add another for individual freedom! How about Andrew Jackson!

Please enlighten me about Jackson

Please forgive my ignorance. I'm not kidding here, nor trying to be contrarian. I was taught in a Sociology/History class that Andrew Jackson was one of our worst presidents - also a slave owner who treated his slaves very poorly. I've also read that he was a big supporter of central banking. Yet I see a lot of people who are Ron Paul supporters that tout Jackson as one of the great libertarian presidents. What was left out of my history class?

Hey now, don't be hatin'!

I wasn't trying to say "such and such are true about Andrew Jackson and he was a bad man" I was just saying that this is what I had learned, and I was looking for new insight. Since when does honest questioning get voted down?

when I was very young I was told that . . .

FDR killed my grandpa's cows (under the program for destroying 'excess' livestock, so that prices would go up)--

I was staggered at the amount of work one president had on his hands to go from farm to farm . . . shooting the cows.

That is how my parents/grandparents spoke of him: FDR did this; FDR did that--

so I thought he was a very busy man--

LOL!

One set of grandparents were anti-FDR; the other set praised him for setting up the work programs; the two sets didn't get along very well; my parents remained silent to get along with everyone.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

FDR and Destroying Food

In the midst of a depression FDR destroyed a significant percentage of the nation's food supply.

Those who starved to death during those times can directly blame FDR for their deaths. And Gingrich wants him on Mt. Rushmore.

Does that guy even think when he speaks? My father was talking how great he thought Gingrich was a couple weeks ago. I wonder how this will grab him.

there must have been some kind of MSM subliminal--

(this is only partly tongue in cheek here) a few weeks ago, but it was around that time that a neo-conservative friend of mine was praising Gingrich!

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

Might as well put Woodrow

Might as well put Woodrow Wilson on Mt. Rushmore. I mean Abraham Lincoln is on there. Another statist wouldn't be a big deal.

Thank Goodness

He is a history professor or he would of chose someone like Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton or even Wilson :/

donvino

On one subject brought up,

On one subject brought up, there is a worse president then FDR and Wilson (in my opinion at least).
