Ron Paul at the Debate

0 votes

While I believe he definitely won the debate, I was a little disappointed that when the questioning moved to domestic issues, Ron stayed on foreign policy with his answers. While I agree with his stance, his domestic policies are far more popular with the GOP.

The folks over at www.DailyKos.com are making fun of Paul, yet he's got 49% in their meaningless poll about who won the debate. Scroll down a bit if you're interested in honing your "Vote for Paul" skills.

I just made that 50%.

a lot of applause

What I found interesting about the Fox debate was that every time Dr. Paul gave a response....the applause in the audience was so LOUD that the other candidates had to ask for their question to be repeated.

This never happened when Romney, Mcain...or the others spoke. So, obviously---the crowd appreciated his foreign policy answers. And the fact that Paul spoke the PLAIN TRUTH, no matter the issue.

Dr. Paul's strongest debate performance yet!

I thought Dr. Paul dominated the debate tonight. The volley with Huckabee showed Dr. Paul to be strong, focused, and principled. And the resounding "NO!" to whether he would take marching orders from Al Qaeda should end discussion on that topic. Dr. Paul's answers were clear and strong all evening--he has definitely improved his delivery.

Now if he could only learn to smile a little more, there would be no question of his vast superiority over the rest of the pack.

All in all, a great showing.

Don't blame me! I voted for Ron Paul!

Rudy....

Rudy's lisp was off the charts today...mercy.
When I came back from Spain, I had a huge lisp. When Rudolph said "analysis"---analyzzzizzz...yeah, a little chuckle inside. We could go from a guy who says the word "nuclear" as new-kee-lar to a guy (heaven forbid) who may say "the zafezt zity in Mizzizzippi."

My email to Fox

I just sent the following to Fox news at:

speakout@foxnews.com

Here's what I sent ---

To Whom it May Concern:

I am a 27 year old father of two. I have a college education. I am socially well adjusted. I have many of the discretionary dollars that your advertisers want when they purchase time on your network.

I think that Ron Paul won tonight's debate by speaking from his heart and espousing the principles of the constitution. The fact that your network gives such poor attention to a candidate who is obviously very passionate and has inspired a grassroots effort the likes of which have not been seen in recent memory saddens me.

I wish you would give Dr. Paul more face time to discuss more issues than just the issues you hope will get him into trouble. I also wish that you would admit that there's no way to spam the post debate text polls. Tell Hannity, that like it or not, lots of people actually agree with Ron Paul. That is why Fox News has such a poor reputation with such a large portion of the country. You could restore some of your lost credibility if you offered all of the candidates equal coverage instead of basing your coverage on self-perpetuating name recognition polls.

Ron Paul's supporters are more passionate than those of any other candidate. I have never participated in the political process until I encountered Ron Paul. So many other Ron Paul supports have similar stories. Such a revival in the American Political landscape is certainly news. We are real. We are organized. We want Ron Paul as our president.

Sincerely,

Missed opportunity tonight

I thought Dr. Know missed a huge opportunity to state why and how we could afford to repeal the IRS. He could've taken a shot at Rudy and his assertion that he has the best tax cutting record.

Missed opportunity.... He has to state how we can do it, specifically the response to "how do you cut taxes by spending this whole crapload of money on a fake war?"

The US Constituion is THE Domestic Issue

Dr, Paul applies the US Constitution as a guild to foreign policy.

He absolutly WON the debate. After he spoke they were mumbling. Rudy could be heard laughing over the mic like a jack ass, (typical GOP).

WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

"typical GOP"? typical Losertarian comment

I recall having read some good posts from you in the past, but you're really on a bender today.

Keep the focus on Ron. Insulting his party (and mine, FTR) is *not* good strategy. The way you probably felt after reading my (intentionally offensive, purely to make a point) message subject is the way Republicans will tend to feel after reading your sarcastic comment.

Seems to me you're not having a good day/week. Sorry. I hope it improves, and I hope you don't mope around waiting for it to do so.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

Hello everyone!

I'm rather new to politics and I would like to just say that Ron Paul is a breath of fresh air. He is exactly what the United States needs and gives me new hope after seeing all the corp. owned candidates and the garbage we have in office now.

welcome!

test the waters and jump right in, as an awakened citizen myself, I am glad to welcome another "woken-up" American! Ron Paul is unlike anyone I have ever been exposed to, as well. I am truly excited that you have decided to join the revolution. Now, tell two people about RP everyday until the election! :)

Paul Never Talks Domestic Policy

I agree with this concern. Paul is given very few chances to answer a question about domestic policy. Usually the media plays him off candidates about foreign policy and otherwise ignores him. However, tonight he was given a rare shot to talk about cutting government spending and creating a network of viral intelligence rather than a tight knit system of bureaucratic intelligence. And he passed. Instead he railed against the usual suspect: foreign policy. I think it was a big mistake. I honestly think he was scared off my the way that f-in moderator posed the question (i.e. in the most demeaning manner possible).

If Ron Paul needs anything right now, it's an expansion of his base. He's energized the base. But now they need to reach out. He already has the anti-war vote wrapped up. Now he needs to focus on spending issues to secure fiscal conservatives who are ambivalent on the war and otherwise unaware of his fiscal policy (only the side twists of Fox News moderators).

Kind of tough to cover everything with three questions

...But you are correct. Most of us know Ron's monetary policy, but the rest of America probably does not. Unfortunately, in these debates, there is just not enough time to cover issues like Fiat money, Gold standard...budget cuts, etc. This issues have to be covered in the straw polls where the candidates get more time to speak.

And yes, that snide remark from the moderator made me sick. Those nast remarks are only reserved for Ron Paul I suppose.

domestic policy

Ron Paul always talks about domestic policy.. he is against abortion,( as far as the fed has no right to tell the american people what they can do and he is morally OPPOSED!) he wants to eliminate the IRS and direct taxation on income to the American worker. he wants illegal imigration stopped. he wants the border patrolled, he wants to eliminate the dept of education, the CIA etc... he is always taliking about domestic policy.. I voted for Ron Paul when he ran as a libertarian in 1988.. I have follwed this mans political career since 1988.. HE HAS NEVER CHANGED HIS VOTE ON 1 SINGLE ISSUE. HE IS THE SAME TODAY AS HE WAS 30 YEARS AGO! take some time and go back on his voting record... thats all the domestic policy information you need!
