Final word on Fox News forum on January 6th

0 votes

This is an email that I just received from Maureen Moore (the wife of Ron Paul's campaign manager, Lew Moore)

There is a round table forum, and Ron is excluded.
Here is the email.

There is going to be a round table forum on January 6th and Ron is not invited. Fox News is responsible. Please don't call or email the NH State Chair...he does not have any say in this.

Thank you for all you do.

Here's proof of why it could be a good thing...

Well, maybe not rock solid proof, because the comment could have been manufactured by a Paul supporter, but I doubt it.

A COMMENT:
I'm a Huckabee supporter but I think this is really unfair. Actually, learning of the incident has made me investigate Paul's positions more because I was wondering why Fox would want to exclude him. I was surprised to learn that Paul's platform is close to my belief system. I may change my vote from Huckabee to Paul, but I would really like to see him in the debate before I make my final voting decision. I've been a faithful Fox viewer for many years, but this incident has made me suspicious of their programing. If they have an agenda with this election and go to underhanded lengths to keep a candidate's message from the public, what else are they obscuring?

Yea...

I think the positive impact of the (old) news censoring RP is underestimated.

Bingo!

Welcome aboard my friend. :)

30 December from the Campaign: Fox & Forum:It's True!

On the ronpaul2008.com home page:

Has Fox News Excluded Ron Paul? pt. 2 (12/30/07)

On December 27, the Associated Press reported: "The New Hampshire Republican Party is sponsoring a forum for Republican presidential candidates on Jan. 6, two days before the state's first-in-the-nation primary." Later in the article, the AP stated: "Participating in the forum will be Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson."

On the evening of December 28, Jared Chicoine and Jordan Brown of our New Hampshire campaign staff, met in person with Fergus Cullen the New Hampshire GOP chairman to discuss whether or not Dr. Paul would be invited to participate in the presidential candidates forum scheduled for January 6. Mr. Cullen confirmed there will be an event on January 6, but he could not confirm whether or not Dr. Paul would be invited. We also learned the event would not be a debate with an audience, as has been held previously, but instead would be a forum in a closed studio with the candidates questioned only by Chris Wallace of Fox News.

A few hours after that meeting, we contacted Fox News seeking clarification. Later that night, we issued a press release while waiting to hear from Fox News.

On December 29, the Baltimore Sun featured a report by Jason George. Mr. George reported, "Calls and emails to Fox News spokespersons by the Tribune were not returned Saturday evening.

"An official at the New Hampshire GOP, which is co-sponsoring the event with Fox, said that Paul might still be included, but the planning for the debate was still coming together and it was ultimately Fox's call."

As of late afternoon today (December 30), we have nothing more to report.

'nuff said

On the ground in NH.

i'm confused!

There is no New Hampshire GOP presidential debate scheduled for Jan. 6. The event was officially canceled three weeks ago. Ron Paul was, indeed, invited, but never committed to attending before the event was canceled because of the close proximity with the ABC event.

"RON PAUL IS NOT LOSING, AMERICA IS.
HE CAN FIX IT, WITH OUR SUPPORT"

The debate was cancelled. And replaced with a forum ...

which doesn't have an audience. And RP is excluded from the FORUM.

I have asked the original poster to change the title of this post but it hasn't happened yet.

Please check the official site.

It appears that they are in the process of planning something other than the debate that was cancelled. Instead they are planning a sit down, round table, forum but still have not invited Paul.

Doesn't seem true -- see update from Kent Snyder

www.ronpaul2008.com has an update as of this afternoon. he may still be excluded from an event that is still in the process of being planned for the 6th. that is why it's not listed on television program guides.
maybe an email to Fox could clear this up?

Nothing on tv that I can see

I used DirecTv to search Channel 2 (local fox station) and also the main FOX network station for January 6th afternoon and evening and could find nothing listed on either. BTW it is not a debate but supposedly a "roundtable" discussion. If anyone finds anything on it (time and station) please post. I'm beginning to wonder if it even exists.

Forum...debate......tornado..

Forum...debate......tornado....twister...stop whining over sematics. I think RP may be better off having his own rally instead of being given 3 mins to say "no i`m not giving back the $500".

Ron Paul 2012

You nailed it.

We will get more voters by having our own forum for Dr. Paul and his ideas, instead wasting his time at a neocon dog-and-pony show.

No forum listed on Fox or St Anselm sites

From Ruppert's Perspective

It is to his advantage to silence Ron Paul.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who can seriously take on Hillary AND shut down the $$$ PROFITABLE $$$ war in Iraq.

Excluding Ron Paul will only helps the campaign. It will force couch-potato Americans to think... hey, why is this guy who raised more money than any other Republican candidate not invited? What is that massive crowded doing outside of the debate hall?

This was posted two days ago.

But thank you for posting Maureen's note.

http://ronpaul2008.typepad.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/12/has-fox...

the Revolution strikes back

Well, FWIW, I have just emailed my local radio station,( WMAL) that I have on all day in my shop, and told them that due to carrying Faux news owned Sean Vannity, I will switch them off, every day when his show starts.I have listened to that station for many years, and it is going to be hard to do. If everone does this, and hurts their ratings, ....... we CAN express our displeasure. We are in a war for our country. Every time the corporate media does something like this, in my mind anyway, it just exposes them more as the enemy of our republic. Leave no stone unturned, kill the Faux news monster. Switch them off, and they will only be talking to themselves. Next, what to do with the NH GOP?? IS Ron not part of the GOP? Why are they willing to continue holding the debate with a Rothschild managed entity dictating who can and cannot appear? I think that if they are the "party apparatus" in NH they would be most displeased that Faux is dictating their business to them. I think that there are still some serious questions to be answered. Perhaps the campaign is asking these questions already, but if not, they should be. Who are the republicans here, us, or Faux news?

Final word

Is this the final final word? Because I also read that the debate was cancelled weeks ago and this is just the story of some confused reporter being circulated and misinterpreted.

Alex Jones website has article

that explains what happened... that Dr. Paul had a luncheon on Jan 5 & never got back to Fox on whether he would or could participate because of this conflict of scheduling..& that the debate was indeed cancelled 3 weeks ago...????

randy n.

Luncheon = Brunch

There are THREE events on that day.

This is still on, and he can go if he wishes. The second event on that day has been accommodating.

There are three events that day.

11AM-1PM Brunch

12PM or later, FSP LF

Then the forum at night with Chris Wallace that shall not be named unless it is cursed. :-)

The debate was cancelled. But it was replaced with a forum.

The title of this post needs to be changed from "debate" to "forum".

Also, nothing is ever final on the net.

Lets get the

facts straight people this is a forum and not a debate!!!!!!

From Jeremy, one of the main DFW volenteers

Jeremy Blosser is really the main guy in the DFW area. He is a ''friend of the family'' and does pass on inside information every once in a while.

Here is an email he sent to ALL of the DFW area meetup's.

Ok, I know there have been more questions about the NH Forum, if it's real,
if the campaign is doing their homework or confused, if we should buy plane
tickets, etc. I have been working on getting this completely clarified for
like the last 18 hours.

Once I got through to the family they went and called campaign people. The
people I talked to were at home with Ron and Carol this weekend and got
their input too.

They talked to Jesse Benton who confirms that Jared Chicoine, the official
campaign's NH coordinator, spoke to the NH GOP as recently as last evening
and the word the official campaign is still getting from the NH GOP is
that:

1) There is a NH forum on the 6th
2) Fox controls who is going to be invited
3) Other candidates have been invited, but Ron Paul has not been and will
not be

There are still reportedly "games being played" and details may not all be
final and this is the reason we don't have this thing listed anywhere
concretely. But our campaign IS getting their info verified before they
announce it, and they are definitely being told by the NH GOP that this is
the situation. People suspect Fox is playing a game here to make the
campaign look bad but so far think the NH GOP is helping us and not hurting
us.

MY suspicion (not confirmed by the family or anyone) would be that we're
talking about the "first in the nation presidential brunch" listed at the
top of the http://www.nhgop.org/, and they don't have the candidates or Fox
coverage listed yet because of the mess going on around it, but that's just
me guessing.

MOVING ON, the campaign is not currently planning any kind of counter
rally, though they are working on something which I will call "bigger" but
can't talk about yet. However, people should not plan to fly to NH just to
attend a counter rally; Jesse's phrase was "spend your money smarter ways".
That having been said they confirm they definitely need more boots on the
ground in NH and if you have the time and money to get there and help
campaign, DO IT.

Local priorities are these:

1) Make sure you are ready to be a state delegate
2) Call Iowans the beginning of this week, until the Caucus on Thursday
3) Do local canvassing through Saturday
4) Get to NH and help campaign on the ground for the primary

Brunch is on, and OK

The First in the Nation Brunch is in the morning, different thing, not a debate but a social.

It's from 11AM-1PM, I've had it listed on my website since Dec 18th, and Ron is invited if he can make it and do the second event (Liberty Forum) from 12PM - 1PM where he is the closing speaker.

The 'forum' is not a huge debate with the audience and all, but Chris Wallace will have them at a roundtable discussion and that will be televised. Calling it a 'forum' distinguishes it from the Jan 5th debate where Ron is also invited, put on by WMUR/ABC, same formats as other debates.

This is the same info I posted yesterday after speaking to both Kent Snyder at HQ and Fergus Cullen at NH GOP.

Kent also posted an update today here:

http://ronpaul2008.typepad.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/12/has-fox...

I'm confused, the link seems to say RP still not invited...but

...you say "Ron is invited if he can make it and do the second event".

Sorry, Jane, what am I missing - can you clarify for me please? (maybe I've been staring at this screen for too long =( .....)
Thanks.

Clarification - 3 events that day

He is scheduled to be the closing speaker at the FSP Liberty Forum at around Noon but I suggested to the organizers to put someone ahead of him so he could get some Brunch at the GOP event in the morning.

So even if he got to Nashua at 12:30, he'd be fine.

This is doable because the First in the Nation Brunch is in the next town just 5 minutes away, in Milford.

That event runs from 11AM - 1PM, and is put on by the NH GOP. They sent paper invites as well as emails, which I posted about, and of course Ron is on there.

When I got the paper/email invite on Dec 18th, I had called NH GOP to ask about the timing, and we discussed the money bomb of the 16th and that is when I was told of the OTHER 'debate' on the 6th. At that point they hadn't even found a date for it, since the ABC event took up January 5th. So fully 12 days before all this erupted, there wasn't even a date set. Then the next thing I see is an AP article listing the RSVPs, which doesn't always mean someone ISN'T invited, which is why I always suggest going to the source FIRST before assuming this and spreading it all over virally.

But sadly, since some anti-Paul person at Shot Politics chose to interpret it that way, it got out of hand and when Kent was called on the 27th and he asked, the answer was yes, you are excluded.

On the 18th when I spoke to the NH GOP they would have given me the heads up I'm sure if they were going to exclude Ron, but since it was FOX who did it, they likely had no idea until Kent called NH on the 27th, then called me back and then posted the first link.

Here is the second one. Same thing, same as Maureen Moore told someone else.

http://ronpaul2008.typepad.com/ron_paul_2008/2007/12/has-fox...

Get media coverage

My understanding is that there will be a large rally on jan 6th at the time of the forum. Contact the other news stations to cover this event when it is confirmed. Tell them they can draw more viewers with an event like this then FOX's forum.
The official campaign seems to have trouble getting media to know about Ron paul events. We sure find out but lets make sure the media finds out.
Local people need to call and be nice.

Rally

I am sure the campaign will not leave Ron with nothing to do on the night of the 6th while the others are being questioned by Chris Wallace at the college.

They did say they were planning something for us. Ron is already going to be here in NH so that's half the battle...
