On Night Marred By Perry Gaffe, Paul Stays The Course

http://www.kutnews.org/post/night-marred-perry-gaffe-paul-st...

Pundits came away from last night's Republican Primary debate talking almost exclusively about Rick Perry's 53-second, awkward gaffe during which he forgot the name of the third federal governmental agency he would eliminate if elected to the White House.

But perhaps lost in the mire was the candidate who appeared to be trying to help Perry: The other Texan running for the Republican nomination, Congressman Ron Paul.

Perry turned to Paul and counted on his fingers as he struggled to remember, "Commerce, Education, and... what's the other one?"

Paul blunted the awkwardness slightly by shifting focus to his plan to eliminate even more federal departments.

"You need five," he said. "You need five."

But Perry continued, "Oh five, oh okay. So Commerce, Education, and the uh, um," as he looked to Paul for help. By that point, Paul apparently had nothing more to add.

According to a report published by the Detroit Free Press last night, a group of 400 watching the debate at the Oakland University student center, just outside Detroit, ranked Paul and Mitt Romney as their favorites.

The whole episode with Perry

The whole episode with Perry struck me as extreme boobery. Even if Perry had remembered the elusive 3rd dept, how was he expecting to "upstage" Paul by announcing *three* depts to ax to Paul's five? Pretty lame all around.

I love how he was leaning to

I love how he was leaning to Ron Paul for the answer! It was quite fitting since he is a Paul copy-cat. I think I even heard him say "congressman" as he was sweating and struggling as if to say, "You're the one I stole these ideas from... help me out a little!"

Idea for Paul-Perry Video

Maybe it would be good idea to combine in a video this moment between Perry and Paul with 5 fingers together with the pictures of previous debate in which Perry was supposingly threatening Paul with his fist on Paul's face. That could make a nice Paul-Perry Cocktail.

Video from Perry's fist on Paul's face to Paul's five fingers showing the way to Perry's failure. Who has the last laugh?

Maybe the music for this Paul-Perry video would be "EYE of the Tiger".

Staying the course is not going to get this deal done...

All I keep hearing from the MSM tonight is Ron Paul is stuck with his Libertarian followers at around 10%.

The polls that matter most are the Land Line secret polls.

The Straw polls only matter when THEY win, not the Dr.

If we keep doing what we've always done, We're gonna get what we always got.

I tell you.

Listening to Rush and Hannity today, and you wouldn't have even known Ron Paul was at the debate. Never even mentioned his name. Disgusting, and NOW these clowns are railing against MSM biases against Cain and Perry. Whew!

alan laney

They're having problems spelling "hypocrisy"

oops...that was too obvious.

Yep:

There's Perry. looking for another bale out.

I love my country
I am appalled by my government

Right on!

I think it was Romney was suggested the EPA...but if you listen carefully, you can hear our good Dr. whispering "HUD...HUD..."

Fantastic!

"If this mischievous financial policy [greenbacks], which has its origin in North America, should become endurated down to a fixture, then that government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off its debts and be without debts. It will hav

actually

Paul gave him the EPA
he is so sly

Romney said EPA, not Paul.

Romney said EPA, not Paul. Paul knows the EPA isn't a department, Romney doesn't... go figure. Although given that the EPA was created via executive order by Nixon, under a Paul presidency it might be on the chopping block too.

The EPA is not a cabinet

The EPA is not a cabinet level department though...

Never forget:

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

Not a department, but it is a Cabinet level agency.

I think it was Clinton who started mixing those up.

This is true, and Clinton did

This is true, and Clinton did have much to do with that, but for this subject, Paul's plan focuses exclusively on eliminating departments. Perry said he'd eliminate three and that's where the gaffe ended up.

At least he wasn't stupid enough to say the EPA and wind up with a double-gaffe.

Never forget:

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

how was it sly of him to

how was it sly of him to suggest the EPA? Because it wasn't the other dept that perry had previously spoken of getting rid of??

I noticed that too... Ron was

I noticed that too... Ron was clever.

Support freedom and liberty candidates in 2012... Ron Paul... Gary Johnson...

Even Dr. Paul

Could not cure Rick Perry's mental constipation.

Paul probably felt like

Paul probably felt like Perry's 8th grade math teacher.

"Come on now, Rick. What comes after two? Use your fingers. Then we can move right along to algebra with the rest of the class."

I love that Perry was talking to Ron Paul when this happened

because we get secondary publicity, and some people might even realize that Perry was in the middle of copycatting Ron Paul when he stumbled. They MAY stop and ask themselves why Perry was copying Paul in the first place.

it's helping Ron Paul already

found this one:

there was another great article (can't find it) that pointed to Perry stealing that idea from Ron Paul - the reason he could not remember.

“The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence.” Dr. Ron Paul

After Perry's 1000th cut, Ron could've delivered a coup de grace

After Perry had given himself the 1,000th cut with that heart-rending "Oops!", Dr. Paul could've delivered a coup de grace by saying:

"Energy, Rick. You wanted to get rid of the Department of Energy."

That's a warm fantasy... But it WAS cool how Dr. Paul didn't help him but let him self-destruct like that.

"Cowards & idiots can come along for the ride but they gotta sit in the back seat!"

I can't wait for the next debate

so much fun.

me neither

but I have to watch the replay again for this Saturday as I'm helping a friend with tabling at a college football game. We're setting up a Ron Paul table and there will be an Obama table there. Not sure about other candidates.

Fun to think about. but I don't have the nerves to sit through

Fun to think about. but I just don't have the nerves to sit through these agonizing debates. I watched the first one, and was appalled by the poor acting ability of these fakes.

Apparently, its only gotten worse.
