From a recovering Neo-Con. "It's all about the economy stupid"!Submitted by Djacksonair on Fri, 11/11/2011 - 12:51
First let state that I have been a Republican my entire life, and for most of that time I was a neo-con and never knew it. My advice goes to the campaign, and how to effectively communicate to the republican "base".
First let me share some of my history. I just turned 32, and own a business that employs about 40. I have been interested in politics my entire life, but it is only recently that I decided to really get active. I live in the deep south where most everyone is a "republican" and a "christian". The truly sad part is that most of them all are not well informed about what it means to be either. Most in my area were so excited to have any news group other then cnn and the like that they blindly follow anything Fox News says.
So how can Ron Paul effectively get the word out about his foreign policy? Is it a fact that blowback happens, that our foreign policy contributed to 9/11, that hundreds of thousands of innocent people have died since 91? YES, YES, AND YES! BUT, you can't start there! You have to start with the heart of the Tea Party. The campaign MUST convince the American public first about the economic cost before they will ever hear a word you are saying about the reasons for 9/11 or even care about the innocent lives lost in Iraq.
NOW is the time that everyone in the Tea Party and yes, even republicans are open to anything related to money and spending. You must start there and then they will discover everything else on their own. Trust me, this will work! Remember I am the one that probably one of you were tearing your hair out in 08, trying to convince. I wasn't listening then and to be honest with you, I wouldn't have listened this time around if not for the economy and our national debt.
Please don't try to force too much on the people at once. Show them how it affects the economy and our debt first. Their friends will not accuse them of being unpatriotic about that, then they will discover all of the other reasons on their own.
Please take this advice from the person YOU, the campaign are trying to convince.
