Jesse Benton Blasts CBS News

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton released the following statement concerning the CBS / National Journal Republican debate:

“Ron Paul consistently polls among the top three in the key early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire. He is polling in double digits in most respected polls.

“Congressman Paul is ranked among the top three in fundraising results.

“Congressman Paul serves on the House Foreign Relations Committee.

“Congressman Paul is a veteran.

“And, Congressman Paul has contrasting views on foreign policy that many Americans find worthy of inquiry and discussion.

“CBS's treatment of Congressman Paul is disgraceful, especially given that tonight’s debate centered on foreign policy and national security.

“Congressman Paul was only allocated 90 seconds of speaking in one televised hour. If we are to have an authentic national conversation on issues such as security and defense, we can and must do better to ensure that all voices are heard.

“CBS News, in their arrogance, may think they can choose the next president. Fortunately, the people of Iowa, New Hampshire, and across America get to vote and not the media elites.”

An idea whose time has come can not be stopped by any army or government-- Ron Paul 2012

I sent this note to Carol Paul

Dear Carol,

I tivo'd last night's debate & have only had the time to watch about an hour of it, but, I have read the outrage over the snippet of time that Ron was given.

I had this idea, and I'm telling you in the hopes you will put it in Ron's ear. What if within a day or so of a debate, a video was put out by the campaign, of Ron answering all the questions he was not allowed to answer in the debate, & rebut some of the ignorant answers some of the other candidates gave? This video could go viral, and if it was done of each debate, Ron's supporters would go wild spreading it around the world & youtube. The video could be casual, with Ron having a discussion with an off-camera interviewer, and I don't think it would take much time to produce - no "bells & whistles," no super graphics, just simple responses from Ron for all the people who so dearly wanted to hear him, if he'd only been given time.

I find it shameful to be registered a republican, when so many of the top candidates in our party want to murder, torture and foment world war.

been done by other candidates

bad press.

the headline is always "candidate X debates with himself"

So include the other

So include the other candidates' responses, too.

Do a mashup of the debate, dropping in Ron's replies as if he had been given the questions, too. Edit out the fluff banter. Keep one or two of the replies of the candidates who actually got the questions and whose position contrasted with Ron's. Repeat each question as if it had been asked separately, but identically, of Ron and the other candidate(s) whose answers are included.

This will actually be helped by the MSM's unfair habit of selecting only one or two candidates to answer each question.

Sponsor Boycott

How about contacting CBS news sponsors and Sixty Minutes sponsors where Scott Pelly is an investigator and complain that they are supporting Scott Pelly's unfair treatment of debate candidates with a threat to boycott if it does not stop. The breadth of Ron Paul support may not be apparent on the evening news, but business leaders must surely know. I think we are working with large enough numbers of people to be effective.

Boycott the LIARS - bullhorn their corporate offices ... promote fair alternative truth media. Set up camp and combine a vocal protest with a local sign-up table. Time to call out the media whores right to their lying faces. It's on and I'm all-in, byatches!

Jesse get RP on TV

Rick Perry's campaign got him all over the MSM the next day after his debate meltdown - we should be doing the same.

nor should they care who he is. Ten thumbs up!

Why not?

I've heard a few people diss JB and it always feels inappropriate. Now I don't know what's up, but I do know that he is legally part of the Paul family, so, a public forum is no place to express discontent within the family. IMHO

This letter doesn't go far enough and certainly doesn't say...

If the campaign doesn't do some real standing up to this, instead of just crying "foul" nothing will become of it. This letter is a weak response to a strong affront IMHO. Do you think CBS is worried about this email, or RP supporters outrage?

Do you think the next debate sponsor is looking at this and making sure that RP gets a fair share of time?

I expect the MSM Blackout.
I pray for an appropriately strong Campaign response. So far...prayers not answered. Big Sigh.......

what can they do different?

What would you have them do? You haven't provided any alternative response for them to take. Are they supposed to say something like "we're really, really, really seriously mad at CBS"? Should they stomp their feet when they say it? Do you want the campaign people to hold their breath till they turn blue?

The shoddy treatment given the Paul campaign is nothing new. The news has been skewed for many years and many insurgent, independent and third party campaigns have been getting the shaft.

The media fouls perpetrated against the Paul campaign are par for the course.

Paul won't support any government action taken against these private companies. The best response to the twisted media is simply not to watch it. That's the market response, that's Paul's belief and frankly that's the best and ONLY thing which can be done.

Vote with your feet.

I clearly outlined what the could do differently!

Why would you say I didn't provide an alternative when I put several paragraphs outlining the alternative in ALL CAPS? What am I missing here?

The alternative in small caps:
They can say that Ron Paul, in fairness to his supporters and their generous contributions, will no longer be tolerant and just waiting for them to ask him questions nor will he stop talking when the alloted time is up.

His supporters are demanding that he get his message out during the debates and he has no choice but to do that by any means neccassary.

Yes I know the Black Out is par for the course as I have been a supporter since 07 when I watched, with heavy heart, the campaign make similar "non functional" responses.

All you have suggested is that Paul threaten to throw a tantrum.

I'm merely stating that is a dumb idea.

The campaign quickly and professionally responded. The Benton statement was strong and effective---it's generated many news stories in the mainstream media.

The campaign did it right...what you propose is lunacy.

Tantrum? Lunacy?

Hardly. A "Tantrum" is what supporters will be acoused of, again, by our anemic "Hey thats not fair" response.

The campaigns present response generated many news stories? I don't see them. Have done many google searches for it and...no...not a news story except among us. Please provide links. But even though it is not news today by my searches is " Jesse Benton says Foul!" the news story we want anyway? How about "Ron Pauls message of Freedom and Prosperity reaches 30 million in last nights debate!" despite media blackout!

Stating that Ron Paul refuses to be Blacked Out any longer and is not waiting politely for fair treatment but demanding it and self creating it...now thats a news story.

Less than two months till the primary. Any sense of urgency? Any?

Class Action Lawsuit!

Class Action Lawsuit!

Paul would oppose it

Ron Paul would oppose using government to sanction a private business. Class Action? Really?

Get over it. Those are private companies; they can choose to air or not air as they please. Sure they serve up a pile of steaming crap. The ONLY intelligent way to respond is to vote with your feet. Simply don't rely on them for news.

It's purely stupid to think that one gets news on television...the "news" shows never have informed. They are there to get eyeballs so as to sell things to people.

Freedom means you don't force people to bend to your will and to serve your needs.

When you propose a lawsuit you are proposing the exact opposite of what Ron Paul stands for and what the liberty movement is all about.

Proof of CBS attempting to skew the primary

This was released today from the Bachmann campaign.

CBS had no intention of running a true debate. And is more inclined to choose the nominee. Commie Broadcasting Station!

Not far enough...

If he just says it's the media, and not the criminal banks who owns the MSM, then he's just prolonging the awakening of the people, and allowing the banks iron grip on politics and the world economy to continue.

I understand it's dangerous to call them out. But since he stands for truth, why not go all out?!

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

Why cry over spilt milk?

According to other articles and posts on Daily Paul, by and from DP Patriots, who were in the audience, the audience at the debate was Ron Paul's.

What more could a candidate want? Would Ron like his audience to shout RON PAUL RON PAUL when he is "skipped"?

ALL the politicians I know are JEALOUS of Ron Paul. Politicians and their sponcers are very pleased Ron Paul is not getting any air time, they wish upon stars and spend their money trying to get what Ron Paul owns, LOYAL sincere fans, supporters, followers, voters.

Instead of crying over spilt milk, why are we not planning on occupying the next debate, and the campaign informing us what our limits are, and where Ron Paul is going to be and speak?

Crying over spilled milk

is a Proverb meaning Do not be upset about making a mistake, since you cannot change that now.

I don't think this is what's happening. More akin to Newton's third law: To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction: or the forces of two bodies on each other are always equal and are directed in opposite directions.

We are reacting to the force applied to us, not being upset about a mistake made.

"The world is a dynamic mess of jiggling things, if you look at it right." - Richard Feynman

With that in mind

My response is then, "Act don't REACT".

We are wasting out time reacting to MSM censorship of Ron Paul's presidential campaign. I don't expect Ron Paul to get a fair and balanced shot at the debates or presidental nomination. The nomination is the focus.

I just received an email from my Central Committee Chair, and It appears we are going to discuss three ways, one which includes rewritting the bylaws (for my benefit I'm sure, since I complained about it being run illegally) to decide how we are going to select our presidential candidate.

This is where Mr Benton need to be lazor focused, for we the Republicans occupying the GOP ... That is how we win, the dabates are intretersting, but they are not what is going to put Ron Paul on MY CA ballot.
