American Censorship Day is Today - Ron Paul Comes Out Against SOPA - Hurray!

Ron Paul has come out against SOPA! Hurray, great going, Ron, and thank you again for protecting our liberties, and standing up for the First Amendment and against internet censorship.

See yesterday's article in Techdirt by Mike Masnick: Ron Paul comes out against SOPA

If you have not yet done so, please write and call your congressperson today, and encourage them to vote against SOPA -- a bill before the house which, if passed, would censor the internet and make it easy for sites such as the Daily Paul to be shut down.

Also, today is American Censorship Day. Google it!

If SOPA passes, the Daily Paul and other sites like it could easily be shut down for copyright violations.

Some quick links about these draconian, invasive, unconstitutional bills.

Members of Congress opposed to SOPA have circulated their own letter (PDF), which was signed by Zoe Lofgren and Anna Eshoo, both California Democrats, and Ron Paul, the Republican presidential candidate from Texas, among others. They say SOPA will invite an explosion of innovation-killing lawsuits and litigation.

SOPA would be unenforceable

SOPA would be unenforceable crap. The only reason they want a bill like that is so they can at any given time brand someone a copyright infringer.

But hey guess what? The jurisdiction of Congress ends at the border!

I say every productive person should leave. Then society will collapse and we'll get to sit and watch from afar, the whole ruling class being hanged by the very troglodyte masses they've bred with our redistributed money.

Masnick says that MPAA is pushing to get the vote to the floor before the end of the year.

The senate version is called E-PARASITE and the House version SOPA.

Do you know who authored

Do you know who authored SOPA?! The SOB Karen Kwiatkowski is running against....Bob Goodlatte.

This calls for a spontaneous money blast to her campaign: www.karenkforcongress.com

It took 5 minutes to call my Rep. and 2 Senators

I spoke with two live persons and left one voicemail asking them to vote NO on H.R. 3261.

The words of John Gilmore from an email in 2003 come to mind about censorship and the fast paced steps toward a police state:

This government hasn't learned that if you're watching everybody, you're watching nobody. Our society was much safer when it was run by people who knew that if you spend 99% of your time investigating innocent citizens who you have no reason to suspect, you're going to have real trouble catching the people you have actual reasons to suspect. Either these guys are stupid, or they really are trying to build a police state. My friends in government try to convince me that incompetence is far more common than malevolence -- but they forget that positions of power attract such people.

When Osama Bin Laden was killed, the "Intelligence" services found that he used flash drives to communicate via public email accounts. He had a way to trick the "intelligence" services for 10 years.

Why not focus on the bad guys than to assume that everyone is bad before proven innocent and that everyone has to be spoon-fed with information that has been "approved for general consumption"?

I called

Barletta's DC office and asked his assistant to urge him to Vote No. His assistant is unaware of Barletta's stance on the issue. I will probably receive an email or letter about it. However, I want to know how he votes NOW, so I'll keep checking for voting results at thomas.gov...

Excellent posting, spaghetti

I used this link, http://www.contactingthecongress.org/

It took me less than a minute to call.

Less than 6 minutes to Call/Email Congressman.

Takes less than a minute to call and leave them a message to vote NO on H.R. 3261 Stop Online Piracy Act. Takes less than 5 minutes to shoot them an email, even if you don't know who your Congressman is:

dont underestimate these

dont underestimate these creeps who want to control the internet. this has been in the works for a while now

if SOPA does not succeed their plan will be to pass legislature in the guise of catching child pornographers and online predators, when in fact the bill will have nothing to do with that.

i believe there have been bills that have gone for vote that would require ISPs to store there customers IP# and search history

Absolutely! Check this out:

SOPA = Blackout

I see the internet as the great equalizer to the MSM attempting to blackout support for Ron Paul. It is the great communication tool that is allowing us to coordinate our efforts and stay well organized. If SOPA passes, the main stream candidate's campaigns could use it to shut down Daily Paul and other sites that have been such a great asset. My suspicion is that the sponsors of this bill (H.R.3261) and the Senate equivalent (S.968 - PROTECT IP Act) realize this and intend to use it to break the back of Ron Paul's support.

Contact your Representative and Senators and urge them to vote "NO."

What's wrong with

SOAP. How are we suppose to get clean without it. I'm all for SOAP. You spelled it wrong too. I don't know what SOAP has to do with the internet unless someone wants to clean the filth off of it which I would agree with. I would even contribute a bar or two for the cause.

I am sure they would love to censor the internet
