Ron Paul Should Be The First Candidate To Announce His Vice-President Selection
Submitted by ZMAN70 on Thu, 11/17/2011 - 21:31We're surging in the polls in both Iowa And New Hampshire. And with only a little over 6 weeks before the Iowa Caucus....now is the time to announce his choice for his running mate. In my opinion, Ron has to be the first one to announce.
Being the first candidate to announce now is huge. The media will be focused on Paul and his choice. If Ron waits til after one or more of the others announce....they will get the large coverage...Ron only a little.
Ron should take the lead and announce and have the others follow.
Now, who should his choice be? To me, it's a no-brainer. His choice should be....
Rand Paul.
It works on a few different levels........
1)The Tea Party supporters are struggling to find a candidate to support. They got behind Cain, but now they're starting to leave him and back Gingrich. Rand is a tea-party darling. With his selection, we take supporters away from Cain And Gingrich.
2)Location, Location, Location. The polls show Romney having a lot of support in New Hampshire. And what reason does the media say is the reason for that support? They say he has the support because he is a border governor. Now, Kentucky is not a border state with Iowa...but its close. Iowa's border state to its east is Illinois...and to its South..its Missouri. Kentucky borders both those states. Kentucky is also nearby to South Carolina.
Now, while this is not a huge plus...Kentucky's proximity to 2 of the 3 "early states".. should give us a little boost.
3) The Uniqueness of a Paul/Paul Ticket. This would be an absolute first in presidential politics....and the media would be all over it. The coverage would be tremendous...and with only 6 weeks left to Iowa.....it would be a huge boost.
4) The Vice-Presidential debates. Rand is sharp...just like his Dad....but a much more polished speaker. Rand would absolutely dominate the debates.
Please Ron...make your selection soon....be the first one. And please select Rand!! ;)

THINK!!! (and think beyond inauguration day)
Please don't suggest people for VP that may have some mainstream appeal without realizing it is that same acceptability to the mainstream that would probably get Dr. Paul killed in office. Think GHWB and Reagan - yeah, THAT sure was a good idea! Only 69 days and he damn near bought it.
Please think about how much more the PTB would want your suggestion to get their chance at the presidency in a Paul/_____ administration than Dr. Paul, and you'll understand why so many suggestions here and on similar threads are a VERY BAD IDEA.
I think they'd even take their chances on Rand in the event we had a Paul/Paul ticket. At least he seems more ready to play ball and lacks his dad's 30 year record of being incorruptible.
I could be wrong, but
I think it is against party rules to name a VP selection prior to winning the nomination. After all, the party does have to buy off on it. If it is against the rules, the GOP would disqualify Ron Paul before you could say, "Judge Napolitano."

Waste of Time
And if you don't believe me, at this point in the last campaign, we were talking about Sarah Palin as VP (before she was famous).
You can reach voters in California, here: http://consequeries.com/California-voter-guide.php
He's already mentioned that he's not going to pick one now till
he wins. Said it would be premature. It would be and it would also be potentially risky...last thing he or we need is to fight two battles..we'd play right into the hands of those who'd wish him ill.
Delegates win.. Here's how.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
I would love a VP who isn't
I would love a VP who isn't brain dead/evil like the past few we had.
Don't you think there's a reason
that this is not the way it's done? I know, some practices are outmoded but many times practices endure because they are the best way and straying from them has disastrous results. My concern is that selling two "candidates" might provide voters twice as many reasons to vote against you. People might be sold on you but NOT your announced running mate, and that motivates them to switch their preference to another candidate who has NOT announced their VP pick.
New Hampshire and Ecuador.
Save the VP nomination for a
Save the VP nomination for a rainy day. It's an ace in the hole. He shouldn't show his hand.
agree with post, BUT Rand...
...would be the WORST possible choice.
I say Chuck Baldwin.
I think the Judge would have the broadest
voter appeal. Rand would likely not appeal to BlueDems, nor would Baldwin. The Judge has not antagonized blocks of voters; yet such decisions should wait until after the primary to avoid yet another attack fest.
Hey Axis....
I love Baldwin....voted for him in the last go-round.
But why do you think Rand would be the WORST choice??
I don't even believe Rand should be up for discussion
MORE than "suggests" a Political Dynasty... And would HURT Dr. Paul's campaign.
For Heaven's Sake, PLEASE let's drop this - yesterday

not worded very well...
...but I think it might evoke some bad "bush dynasty" memories for DEMOCRATS who may be inclined to vote for Ron.
Also... having Rand in the SENATE might be the BEST "use" of him for a President Ron Paul, right??
And just think....
How many times has Hannity had Rand on his show? He loves Rand...and I'm sure his listeners do too.
