Paul Ryan & Justin Amash Vote Against Bob Goodlatte's BBA: (Yup, He's the SOPA Author Karen Kwiatkowski is Running Against!)Submitted by Waskily Wabbit on Sun, 11/20/2011 - 16:09
Bob Goodlatte's weak Balanced Budget Amendment was voted down Friday in the House. Both the GOP leadership and Bob Goodlatte are blaming Democrats for the bill's failure to pass.
Four Republicans voted against the bill including, fiscal conservatives Justin Amash and Paul Ryan because the bill did not cut spending and aimed to raise taxes.
“I’m concerned that this version will lead to a much bigger government fueled by more taxes,” Ryan said in a statement following the vote. “Spending is the problem, yet this version of the BBA makes it more likely taxes will be raised, government will grow, and economic freedom will be diminished. Without a limit on government spending, I cannot support this Amendment.”
Bob Goodlatte broke his taxpayers pledge with Americans for Tax Reform by authoring and brokering deals with Democrats to support his bill in exchange for a weak balanced budget amendment that raised taxes.
Americans for Tax Reform should endorse constitutional conservative, Col. Karen Kwiatkowski because she would honor her pledge to never raise taxes.
Of the 18 balanced budget amendments going around DC, Justin Amash authored the strongest one. It had bipartisan support and 50 cosponsors.
