Is the Republican base really so naive?
Submitted by ThermopolisWarr... on Tue, 11/22/2011 - 22:28This is directed at the Paul campaign staffers who may stumble across this post. That said, the chance of that happening goes up every time that somebody comments to 'bump' this thread, so thanks:
Fox news has brought much attention to the 'Fast And Furious' scandal. I deal with everyday Republicans in this very red state all the time. Most seem to get the gravity of the situation. They understand that a cabinet level department was caught working at odds against the Constitution of the United States of America. It may be a complicated story once one digs into it, but it is still easy to see the outcome that was hoped for. Some see it with partisan blinders on, but many see it as just another quest for the expansion of bloated government.
Why then would I ask if the Republican base is really so naive?
Because I really do wonder if 'they' (those who watch these debates for information) are so naive to not be able to see how most branches of the US government work against the interests of a Free people in this country.
If weapons were allowed to flow into Mexico, what says weapons aren't allowed to flow into the hands of Islamic terrorists?
What says drugs aren't allowed to flow into America?
What says that the insane war on drugs, which raises both the demand for, and the cost of those drugs, doesn't benefit the american shadow government just as it does for drug cartels (Mexico's shadow government)?
What says that the 'underwear bomber' wasn't allowed to board that plane... to help the american intelligence agency get even deeper into al Queda, of course?
What says that an unstable area like the middle east doesn't actually help these 'off-book' agencies become even more needed?
Now I understand that Paul has to be careful about treading to close to the edge of 'conspiracy theories', but seeing how he avoided ANY talk of any of that stuff, ON THE ANNIVERSARY OF THE JFK ASSASSINATION, well to me, that is akin to viewing the Grand Canyon from New Mexico.
It just seems like a missed opportunity. But there will be more opportunities still to come.
Seize the day. Make news. Ask the base if they really believe the 'official story'.
