Ron Paul & Santorum Spar over Profiling by the TSA

Texas Rep. Ron Paul and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum strongly disagreed during Tuesday’s CNN debate about whether the Transportation Security Administration should profile airline passengers.

“We should be trying to find the bomber, not the bomb,” Santorum said when asked by moderator Wolf Blitzer whether the U.S. should use profiling. “Other countries have done it — Israel’s probably the best example. But to put this enormous expense on the federal government, to put this enormous expense on the traveling public for pat-downs and other intrusions — I think it’s too much money.”

Santorum then said that like Texas Gov. Rick Perry, he believes the TSA should be privatized and that Abraham Lincoln proved sometimes civil liberties have to take a back seat to national security.

Steering the conversation back to profiling, Blitzer then asked Santorum who, exactly, he believes security professionals should be on the lookout for.

Get rid of the TSA

and use the strategies that Israel uses. Also, forget profiling but focus on anyone with a non US passport. Quit harassing U.S. citizens. Why can't they just say they will focus more on those who are not citizens? It doesn't matter what country or color or religion they are, if they are going to molest and xray and inspect and defile to weed out terrorists, shouldn't they focus more on non U.S. citizens and leave us alone? I just don't get why nobody addresses that.

some of these people don't even realize how . . .

unAmerican and anti-constitutional their perspectives and comments are.

Rather sad.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

I'm not sure they care about the Constitution at all

I think they see it as a part of history with no worth and not applicable in modern times.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

Santorum is just dumb.

And he always looks like he is on the verge of crying. He's sad that babies get aborted and he's sad we haven't managed to obliterate the Muslim world yet- fetuses and all.

Get therapy, Rick.

The REAL answer

which solves all the arguments about "what the TSA should be doing" is to ABOLISH THE TSA and fire everyone associated with it.
Then the will be no arguments about what it should do, because it won't exist and won't be abusing anyone.
TSA is unconstitutional, hopelessly Orwellian, and incapable of doing anything beyond expanding tyranny over the general population.
TSA protects nobody, and oppresses everyone.
Abolish it.
