Good news from Iowa!
Submitted by carpavel on Mon, 12/31/2007 - 19:20
Hey guys,
I need some good news from Iowa. Those who are doing work there can you discribe whats going on. The media won't tell us. Discribe what you see and how the Call For Paul guys are working with you. Are you lining up rides for voters? How many are coming to Ron Rallies. Post links and write reports we need our spirits lifted!
If this works could we get one going for NH as well? We need to know how the battle is going.
Bump this often please and cross post to RP forums.

How can 44000 be 10% of
How can 44000 be 10% of 111000? What am I missing?
Rounding
44,000 / 111,000 = 0.396396396
Since we only have two significant digits in 44,000 (unless that number is an exact, proven count) we can only trust the first two digits in the result. Rounding to those two digits gives us 0.40, which is 40%.
New advertising Strategy!
In the slide show mentioned below, there is a man in a grocery store with a Ron Paul sign on his shopping cart!!! I could do that - heck yeah!!

Here you go....this will inspire you and make you proud!
This is from politico.com, a nice slideshow of Paul supporters canvassing in Iowa.

Great Photos
My heart goes out to all of the people working so hard in Iowa and NH. They make all Ron Paul supporters very proud!
I loved the elderly gentleman with the sign in his shopping cart
I hope that one makes it into the montages.
One thing I noticed when
One thing I noticed when calling new prospects found by last minute calling, is that the supporter very often is a college student, unable to go to the Iowa caucus as he will be on a flight back to school.
We need to figure out how they can vote for Ron Paul.
Play Hookie for Liberty
There are some things more important than school. No one would bat an eye if you took off for a funeral. Well kids, our nation is dying. Your Bill of Rights has gone from 10 to 1.5 ~ maybe you can get a note from Dr. Paul. :)
Uhhh..
flight delay?

Absentee ??
Maybe? Anyone?
There is no absentee voting
There is no absentee voting in the Iowa caucuses. I heard this on NPR about a month ago.
Absentee votes generally
Absentee votes generally aren't counted unless the race is really tight. I have my doubts about absentee voting. Since I'm abroad, I have no choice but to mail in my absentee vote.
Thank you
I feel better now! You know maybe we being excluded from fox is a good thing. If we finish well in Iowa it will reveal thier bias. I am so done with those guys and with all the Republican talking heads. I used to think they told the truth.
Some tech savy guy needs to start a news-tube channel on internet and turn us all into reporters. We can do the stories no one else will report like the Income tax victores ect. A place the simple minded lazy people can be fed truth. Think of the mal nourshied flock of sheeple being fed huge doses of nutrisis truth mmmmmm.
Get on it somebody. You'll be rich . . . or . . . dead!

The agenda.
One thing everybody must remember is that the "news" organizations have an agenda. That agenda is to get people to believe what they are spewing out. But then again everybody has this same agenda - to believe what we (they) are saying. We wouldn't respond if we did not want this to happen. What we need to remember is that we as free thinkers must select what we are willing to accept and what we want to beleive. When that belief is based on valid principles then we are right. Our valid principles are based on our rights as human beings; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. These values don't come from some government but from our being. Ron Paul exudes these principles and that is why those organizations will attempt to vilify him. It isn't going to work though because we know the truth. Ron Paul rules.
I suppose there are as many
I suppose there are as many "agendas" (aka motivations) as there are people, so I don't buy that there is a unifying news organization bias out there plotting to unhinge our candidate.
Stuff happens, and almost no one is ignorant to the point of realizing that in terms of philosophy, Ron Paul is unmatched, but in terms of presentation, he is less convincing. Television favors confident and photogenic people, unfortunately. I only hope one day there will be more intelligent people able to see past what television presents them.

We want it more than they do
It is why we will win.
Manage your expectations. This is the beginning of a long race that finishes in Minneapolis in September.
Think delegate count...we want to get as many as we can for each state.
Will we win a state? Definitely. Will we win a lot of states? No, I don't think so.
A lot is happening with this group of candidates.
My guess is it will be Dr. Paul and Romney in the driver's seat at the convention. Dr.Paul will beat Mr.Romney.
Huckabee, Rudy, Thompson and McCain will be gone by midway. None of these men could beat Dr. Paul. Romney is the only national candidate who can give the doc a run for his money.
These primaries are about 6 guys bunched up. No one is going to break away and consolidate.
It is a miracle, because if it was any other way, Dr. Paul would not have a chance.
Remember this, every day that Ron Paul stays in the race his odds of victory increase.
This is why.
His message CANNOT BE STOPPED. It is not like Huck or Fred who get popular for a week or two and fade....the doc just klunks along gaining momentum each day.
Do McCain's supporters want it like we do?!
Do Rudy's want it like us?
Romney's people...do they tear themselves to pieces for the Mitt?
ARE YOU PEOPLE KIDDING ME?
In RI the Providence meetup heroes are at the mall on FREAKING Christmas eve getting signatures for the ballot.
McCain paid some people to wander around and the get the names.
PAID THEM?!
WE PAY TO WORK FOR THE DOC! We give up money we could use to work for the doc. OUR RICH SUPPORTERS KNOCK OUT FULL PAGE ADS IN MAJOR DAILIES FOR THE DOC.
Get it?
We want it more than they do...so we will win. Be patient...Rome wasn't built in a day, if it had been we would have hired their contractor.

"Hillary Clinton is one of the most vile and disgusting people to ever walk the face of the planet. Today during our sixth fourteen-hour marathon office session, one of the student volunteers, Brittany, called a sweet little old lady, and through the course of the conservation, found out that this little lady was extremely excited about an upcoming party she was invited to. The date? January 3rd. Hillary Clinton's campaign staff had invited her. The party? The Democratic Caucus. The Hillary Campaign was literally calling little old ladies and inviting them to a "party". While this lady was being exploited for her vote, dozens of paid Hillary staffers were likely in the midst of calling other little old ladies and conning them into attending similar "parties" at local precinct headquarters around the State of Iowa. Legal, but unethical - Hillary Clinton's motto."

yeah.
last time i gave an update, i was treated like a defeatist. people didnt want to hear what i saw or how i felt it was going.
-------------------
three things i have to report.
1) bill clinton was at my high school tonight. cspan covered it. i heard he got booed for something. i think there were about a dozen people there with ron paul signs. some from out of state and some minutemen. the ron paulers were asked to leave a public high school by the sheriff and police chief. the group was told by the sheriff that he didnt want to have to arrest anyone tonight. so they moved down the hill where people were backed up waiting to leave and arrive. this was also on highway 30. the police ended up doing us a favor by moving us to a higher traffic area. slim jims were handed out and lots of cars honked and gave thumbs up.
the above was told to me by my dad. i was not there.
2) i took pictures of our billboard at night tonight. i will post those shortly, below this post.
3) i have seen two ron paul yard signs. just recently two huckabee. two dodd signs and about half a dozen clinton signs. not very many tv ads. some from mitt and a lot from the dems. ron paul on the radio. i have nebraska tv stations so that probably explains the lack of tv ads.
i hope we finish third or better i just wish we had a couple of more weeks left of effort. one example, obama has 27 field offices in iowa, we have two. not sure how many mitt has. i cant want until caucus night to see if im alone or one of many.
some have asked what to do to help, this is from our county chairman:
Phone calling is the most effective way to identify RP supporters. It is, admittedly, boring and not the most exciting adventure, but it is the most effective way to identify RP supporters and relay their contact info to me so I can put them in my data base and make sure they show up and participate in caucus. You can do this from your home, it just requires discipline and dedication to get through the lists. The most productive phone calling times are 6-9pm M-F and 9-9 on Saturdays. Email me with request for numbers and I will send you an Excel attachment with numbers, but we need your help.

Thanks -
so much for doing what you're doing !!! I know it'll pay off !
15% should be the low side
15% should be the low side possible due to the higher expected turnout ratio of Ron Paul supporters versus the other guys. I'd think that he should get more than that just based on the Dems and Independents that aren't even counted in the Rep polls.
Depends somewhat on the weather
Really bad weather will reduce the turnout for non-committed supporters.
Unfortunately it looks like the really bad weather will be during the next two days (when out folks are trying to canvas for new voters) while it will get a bit better on Wednesday and then an almost balmy 31F degrees on Thursday.
Then again there is a 40% chance of rain on Thursday and that could make conditions particularly treacherous helping our voters prevail (at least the ones who don't break their necks on the way to the caucus!)

Remember the Iowa Straw Poll?
I just had a thought. RP got 10% of the Iowa Straw poll in early August. That was almost 5 months ago, when he had little going for him at the time. Think about all the progress since then: grass roots swelled, campaign offices set up, hundreds of canvassers, statewide TV, radio and billboard ads, MSM attention (well, more than Aug 5), millions of You Tube videos watched, rallies and so on. He is polling 10% among Republicans now, and that's the Bush primary voters (a fraction of whose voting Jan 3). I think RP can pull 15% of the vote - at a minimum, but I think there is potential for a lot of upside, especially if Independents come out as they're expected. This will give him 3rd place, which will be a major victory and potentially steal the headlines from the expected winners Mitt and Huck. We have good reason to be optimistic!
But Hockalugee did very well
I'm afraid that IA has alot of name recodnition for Huckalugee, although I do beleive there were alot of shenanegons during the IA screw poll but its over now.
Remember: who's signs do you see??????????
Let the betting begin
I'm betting that Paul will place with 16%, which should be more than enough to shift the polarized thinking against him. It could vault him to second place in some of the other early primaries.

I just found a poll that
I just found a poll that said 3% of a politicians supporters donate money. There have been 132,000 contributors so far this quarter. That would mean 132k/.03=4,400,000 supporters in the US. Iowa has about 2,000,000 eligible voters, or about 1% of the nations voters. So .01*4,400,000 is 44,000 supporters in Iowa. That's 22,000 votes if half of them show up, 11,000 votes if 1out of 4 supporters show up, and only 5,000 if the standard 10% turnout rule applies. The expectations is that 80,000 or 90,000 people are going to the Republican caucus. That would suggest the following percentages 25%, 12%, or 5%. But why believe them about the expect number of voters? They said twice as many people would show up at the Iowa Straw poll. So lets give them the benefit and say that 70,000 will actually vote instead of just 45,000. That would suggest the following percentages 31%, 16%, or 7%. I'm hoping that at least 80% of our supporters vote and that only 70,000 of the other guys show up. So my prediction is that at least 35k RP supporters to vote and 70,000 people who show up for the other guys. The MSM isn't counting on at least 30,000 of our supporters, so that suggests our 30k plus their 70k for a total of 100,000 total voters. Thus, we end up with 35% and a huge shot in the arm for NH.
