Ron Paul Tells Newsmax: I Support Israel

In an exclusive Newsmax interview, Congressman and Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul confirmed his support for Israel, but cautioned that while the United States should be a “friend” of the Jewish state, America should not be the “master” of Israel.

Newsmax: What should our relationship be with Israel?

Ron Paul: We should be their friend and their trading partner. They are a democracy and we share many values with them. But we should not be their master. We should not dictate where their borders will be nor should we have veto power over their foreign policy.

This is not just about Israel, by the way, this is about how we should conduct ourselves with other countries around the world.

Newsmax: But Israel is not like other countries. We have a large Jewish population in America. What do you say to those who criticize your policy toward Israel?

Ron Paul: I think that some not only misunderstand the American Constitution and the role we should have in the world, they also misunderstand Zionism. Part of the original idea of Zionism, as I understand it, was that there should be Jewish independence and Jewish self-reliance. Today, America doesn’t want anyone to be self-reliant. We want to rule the world and be the saviors of the world and we are going broke in the process...

USS Liberty

"On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 40 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story and is dedicated to the memory of the 34 brave men who died."

"In October, 1981, most of the world...

"In October, 1981, most of the world and most of the Congress voiced outrage over Israel’s attack on Iraq and their nuclear development. I was one of the few who defended her right to make her own decisions on foreign policy and to act in her own self-interest."

I'd be interested to see if there are any on-the-record statements or votes by Gingrich back in 1981 on the issue of Israel bombing Iraq's reactor. We could contrast that with Dr. Paul's statements back then.

Standard GOP position on Israel is actually Liberalism

It's interesting to see how many of the professing "small government" GOP contenders scream out "the government is too big, we're too dependent on the government" while at the same time holding onto a foreign policy toward Israel that says "depend on us, we know what's best for your nation." This is classic doublespeak. They need to be called out (on tv, by Ron Paul, in a debate) and told they are holding onto a Liberal policy toward Israel while claiming to be Conservative.

Jewish population Of The CONUS

FOR THE RECORD, the percentage of people who identify as 'Jewish' is 2.1%, according to 'Jewish Virtual Library'.
Here is a link to the reference, so that you can educate yourselves:
My state is tied with six others at 0.1% of the total.
South Dakota scores the lowest, at 0.0%.

"Newsmax: But Israel is not like other countries. WE HAVE A LARGE JEWISH POPULATION IN AMERICA."

NO, I am not against Judaism; I am PRO-FACT!

FACTS are SO hard to argue with, and NEWSMAX is OPENLY LYING!

I ended my short subsciption with Joseph Farah's site some years ago, after I caught him openly LYING about another subject...
Those Khazars see themselves as 'Master Of The World' (this is also the title of one of the novels by the famous science fiction author Jules Verne, for those who still read books. Remember '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea'? Disney did a film...).

And yet... The very same

And yet... The very same people who tell us there is a Jewish nation will in the same breath deny there is a Christian nation.

Glad to read you cancelled your subscription World Nut Daily and neo-con hypocrite Farah. I hope you canceled Newsmax too.

google Michael A Hoffman II. He is a scholar with a wealth of information on the Khazars.

This is the first issue in which I've noted Ron Paul to be out of sync with the Constitution. The non-establishment of religion doesn't just apply on US soil but to establishment by the US government anywhere. Isreal, like Saudia Arabia, and several other countries that are propped up by US foreign aid and CIA action, is a theocracy. For Paul to say he supports theocracy, even personally, is inconcistent with the libertarianism he usually professes. Further, Israel's human rights record is abominable, not only against Palestineans but also against its own citizens and Americans. I find it repugnant for Dr. Paul to say he supports a country that routinely spies on America, which has sold American military secrets to our enemies for cash in hand, and which less than two years ago assassinated a teenaged American citizen who was not in Israel at the time for the crime of speaking out against the Gaza cocentrarion camp. It is one thing to say that other countries should be left alone to go to hades in their own fashion, it is quite another to say you support a country that has proven itself, time after time, for decades on end, right to the very present, to be both the enemy of America and the enemy of liberty. Dr. Paul has never pandered before and I see no need for him to start now. If Israel really does control enough of the American political process to require such pandering now, that country's long history of foreign assassinations probably would make a Ron Paul victory a short-lived one.

You Don't Seem To Comprehend

The issue is the Constitutional RIGHT by the FEDERAL GOVERNMEMNT to openly give 'AID' (paid for by LOANS FROM the Federal Reserve, and forcing the TAXPAYERS like YOU and ME to PAY BACK with INTEREST and UNDER PENALTY of PRISON TIME if WE do not 'comply') to ANY nation.

Ron Paul simply states that he is supportive of Israel, in terms of trade and relations, and that he cannot allow the PEOPLE of the United States to support any one NATION over another (which may or may not be a Republic or Democracy or Theocracy or [insert governmental type HERE]).

Compare nations.
Saudi Arabia vs. Israel, in 'Foreign Aid' by the CONUS, over the past 30 years.
# of hijackers on 9.11? 12 SAUDI (supposedly) of 19.
Amount of 'Foreign Aid' given to Saudia Arabia vs. Israel?

DO your research, and DISCOVER THE TRUTH.

Ron Paul says our govt should leave other countries alone

Whether theocracies or not, it does not matter, his policy is consistent for all.

Doesn't matter

"I find it repugnant for Dr. Paul to say he supports a country that routinely spies on America, which has sold American military secrets to our enemies for cash in hand, and which less than two years ago assassinated a teenaged American citizen who was not in Israel at the time for the crime of speaking out against the Gaza cocentrarion camp."

It doesn't matter that these things are true. It doesn't matter about the U.S.S Liberty, or any number of all the other things about that state that makes it just as inhumane and backstabbing as any other state, if not more so.

He knows about all of these things. He's aware, and he's wise to it.

But it doesn't matter.

He can never publicly take that stance without screwing his chances of being elected. Forever.

So for purposes of the campaign: Does Not Matter.

He is taking the perfect stance.

Amazing job

That was an amazing job Ron Paul did.

I long for the day when a

I long for the day when a candidate's view on Zimbabwe is just as important as his view on Israel.

Christians: Dr Paul is one! Campaign: Truth frm the Bible ROCKs

In this interview : “the borrower is servant to the lender” (Proverbs 22:7)

In stump speachs: 10 So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king. 11 And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. 12 He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. 14 And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. 16 And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men,[a] and your donkeys, and put them to his work. 17 He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. 18 And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day.” (1 SAMUEL 8:10-13)

I am wating to hear one of the many versions of: Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong (this one in Isiaiah 31)

Dr Paul knows his Bible and should use it more in appropriate forums (speaking to Christians and others of faith).

Step By Step Answer to Objections to Ron Paul Presidency

1.) Strong National Security and Defense President. How about an interview on national defense/security in the United States of America?

2.) A tough love for Israel is not the way to hearts and minds of the GOP Primary or Caucus voter. This interview about loving the nation state of Israel should go viral and be given to every single likely primary voter.

3.) Dr. Paul needs to show more GOP polls in a general election race versus Barrack Obama. Dr. Ron Paul can win in the general election.

Pro-Israel, Pro-Ron Paul

It has been said that nations don't have friends, only interests. Politicians always want to be Israel's friend, but who is looking out for Israel's interests? We, the Jewish and Christian supporters of Israel, believe in a strong and sovereign Israel. The only way to achieve this is to elect a President who believes in a foreign policy of non-intervention. Please join us in supporting Ron Paul for a free America and an independent Israel.

Peace be upon you.
The Shekinah Glory was reflected in the song 'Battle Hymn Of The Republic'.

And to think these idiots all believe they are going to heaven. No God worth the name is going to let such irresponsible men and women, who, created in God's image, were suppose to act responsibly as caring and loving, into his or her kingdom, especially knowing they believe that the murder of innocent children, God's creatures, not the property of any government, can be rationalized by the mere justification of, "but I was ordered to do it," "it was collateral damage," "the child shouldn't have been there ifit didn't want to get shot." Heaven may be full of glorious things, but Marines will not be among them. The idea that you can be forgiven for any atrocity just becaused you once pledged allegiance to some deity's progeny is ludicrous on its face. You will be judge for your actions, not for for having covered your ass with a pledge of allegiance. Only a government of men (or a temple full of priests and rabbi) could have come up with such a farce knowing they could sell it to willing believers.

the way Dr. Paul turns the whole question of Israel completely on its head. He comes at it from an angle his critics don't really expect, and makes a compelling argument that he truly IS the best candidate for Israel's self-interests.

Great interview!

Great interview!

This could be a great video idea

I know Ron has said these exact same arguments in the past, but if someone could compile a series of clips of Ron talking about how pro-Israel he is using the same arguments in the newsmax interview, I think it could be very powerful for spreading the message.

I recall Obama telling Israel what to do, and Dr. Paul made a strong argument against such policies.

A video that goes into these details could significantly portray Ron as the ideal 'pro-Israel' and anti-Obama candidate.

Just a thought.

Dr. Paul

is Mr. Spock, but with a heart.

Perfectly logical and compassionate.

Spock? Naaahhh...

Help us, Obi-Ron Paul-obi, you're our only remaining hope:

Freedom is my Worship Word!

George Washington would not approve

I'm not wild about it either. What happened to neutrality? If we're "friends" with Israel, what does that mean for us regarding Israel's neighbors/enemies?

But perhaps I'm off the mark in my interpretation. I'd like to hear more about the nature of this "friends" relationship. If he means trading and civility like we will have with everyone else too, then great. If this is special treatment territory, and it's hard not to see it that way especially when this is on staunchly Zionist NewsMax, then this is hypocritical pandering -- and it pains me to even type that.

The rabid Zionist info-mafia needs to be exposed and neutralized before we can have an adult conversation about foreign policy, especially re: Israel. Their influence is utterly toxic.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

George Washington stated that we should be friends with everyone and allies with none. Friendship should be a desired trait between all nations. Friendship also does not require a price tag as most of the GOP is mislead to believe.

Washington indicated nothing ... but friendship and trade!

Where is it recorded in history that Washington advocated we be friends with one nation at the expense of another? Where did he say we should hate any nation because it was enemy of our friend?

The core of non-intervention is 'Friends and trade with all, entangling alliance with none'.

The operative word is 'NONE'. This means all are friends, but with none are we entangled! What reason is there to hate, one, or any?

Couldn't be more plain... or simpler!

I understand your concern,

I understand your concern, but, when you take this with what he has said before you know that he's not talking about special treatment. Many times he's said that we should trade and be friends with all countries. He's simply answering a question just talking about Israel. He didn't say that he would provide foreign aid, in fact, quite the opposite.

Flip the Script

Ask the neocons why they don't want Israel to become self-sufficient? Do they know think that the Jews are as capable to handle themselves? Are they the ones who are, in fact, anti-Israel?

Ron Paul's handling of Israel

Ron Paul's handling of Israel is brilliant. I know that many people (including me) are more critical of Israel, but RP's position toward it makes him nearly invincible. If anyone is to argue with him, they'll have to make some very uncomfortable admissions about the US-Israeli relationship, mainly that he has the role of "master" reversed. Not even the most overt supporters of Israel are able to touch this with a ten foot pole.

"THEM" refers to individuals, not necessarily governments.

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

"THEE", "THEM", & "HIM" refer to individuals and/or groups of individuals, but not necessarily governments.
Like Ron Paul says, What do governments actually produce? NOTHING.

When it comes right down to it, it really is about personal liberty, to either do right or wrong towards Israel. Why would anyone not want to be blessed by God?
