Did anyone catch the Ron Paul skit on Conan? Link included...

I was just in a local store and saw a bit on Ron Paul that Conan did but couldn't hear the damn thing because they had the sound turned off.

Subtle, I think Conan may have been poking fun at all the

ridiculous screaming and gnashing of teeth of the news media when they talk about how conservatives only want to take everyone back to the 19th Century, you know, when we didn't have roads and bridges like we do today.

He may not be in a comfortable position to outright give his support to Ron Paul, this may have been a more subtle way of getting away with plugging him on his show.

I don't know what this guy's politics are, but I know he's a bit more complex than people give him credit for.

RON PAUL 2012

Nothing new here

Conservatives are used to being accused by liberals of wanting to throw the poor out on the streets and take away grandma's medicine. Conservative voters who watch this ad will see it as another such attack. Thus, it is not going to hurt Ron among conservatives. It might even help him. It helps conservative candidates to be attacked by liberals for wanting to cut too much government spending.

This was horrible!

Conan's fake ad implied Ron Paul would be blowing up food stamps and other social services. This was a not-so-subtle subliminal message to the welfare-supporting public that Ron Paul is heartless and doesn't care about the little people.
Nothing less than an emotional Liberal attack.
Horrible.
Can't believe anyone would think this kind of media attention is positive in any way.

dont get too bent out of shape...

Conan's show is a comedy. Their job is to poke fun at stuff. It wasn't mean. Heck, it just got Ron's name in front of millions of people. A lot of people don't even know who Ron Paul is. This was perfect.

I kind of agreed with the fake ad

I mean is it bad that I'm for all of the cuts proposed in the fake ad? The only problem I had with the plan was the premise that there would problems (marauders) afterwards. And I also didn't support the government handout of a pipe.

Ironic isn't it?

Ron Paul is anti-war but they turn that around to mean pro-violence, ie he is just supporting the other side against you.

This was a god awful segment.

'No wonder this 'also ran

'No wonder this 'also ran talk show host is always looking for work. How bad can it get? He lowered his own scruples, if he has any, with this anti-truth piece of political bias. Only in America is ugliness a commercial antidote for success.

This is despicable actually.

This is despicable actually. I laughed, but then I felt really bad for laughing because while I may be able to take a joke, I realized that this sort of thing is actually damaging and just reinforces the status-quo of what most Americans think of when they think of Ron Paul.

This is basically a hatchet job. They are saying that being different is bad. They are saying that he's even lying to the people because those cuts really mean those awful things.

At the end of the day, I don't give Conan or his viewers much respect if they actually see this ad as more negative attacks.

There are endearing ways to poke fun at a candidate... and then there's stuff like this.

I don't approve.

Conan

This iss the first time that Conan has mentioned Ron Paul. Incidentally, Conan leads in the ratings for the prize audience of young people, I think it is age 20's to 39 year old. Good to see Conan mention Ron Paul. The young people like Conan and young folk also like Ron Paul.

fearless brave joyful peaceful loving grateful, compassionate

I saw it...

First they played the first 15 or 20 seconds of the "big dog" ad (the real one) as a set up for the bit, then they played the "new" (fake) ad from the campaign which basically took the big dog ad to extremes. Not sure how I feel about it. It was kind of funny if you don't take it too seriously, but it kind of reinforced the idea that Ron Paul would heartlessly cut spending to the bone and leave all those who depend on government out in the cold.

Dude

Link it. If you don't have it, wait till you do please.
