Remains of 274 US troops dumped in landfill: report

The US Air Force dumped the cremated, partial remains of at least 274 troops in a landfill before halting the secretive practice in 2008, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While millions are given to government connected contractors, they cannot even pay for a proper burial of troops!

An additional group of 1,762 remains -- which could not undergo DNA testing because they were badly damaged or burned -- were also disposed of in this manner, the Post said, citing the Air Force.

That's A LOT of dead bodies.

Following an Army probe, the conduct at Arlington is now the subject of a criminal investigation.

But don't worry, the military will find a way to exonerate itself. It is, after all, the military. Nobody in their right mind is going to stand up to the mafia I mean Air Force.

If this undignified act is true

then this is one of the most offensive, inhuman, and disrespectful stories that I have ever seen. I come from a military family. I could not believe if that happened to us...I'd go nuclear.

Just another reason for people to NOT JOIN

the military. Not under today's circumstances, no way.

Everyone across the US...

... questions and distrusts our govt in how they spend our money, yet, there is a large segment of our country that who follow blindly and without question our govt's handling of the military. When will they learn?

Have We Stooped This Low?

These are men and women that are killed while fighting illegal wars for the soul-less oil pigs...and my own Air Force is dumping the remains in landfills? I feel sick. Where do the families of these soldiers go to pay their respects? The local dump? If I were to act on emotion alone right now, I would walk away from my ten-year career in the AF. So sick...

You're in the Air Force?

Well, now you see the thanks you get.

I'm wondering if these soldiers were killed under mysterious circumstances, and this is some kind of cover-up?

On the other hand, the grand total of abused bodies is around 2,000. Isn't that somewhere near the total of Air Force soldiers killed in the wars?

Pat Tillman's body (Army

Pat Tillman's body (Army Ranger) was stripped of all evidence(clothes, journal, anything that would help forensics determine the method of kill) before his family was allowed to view him after he reached Dover. So if it happened to one, it may have happened to more. It makes me sick to think that any of our casualties were not treated with respect. I am not sure what the exact number is for airmen that have been killed in the Iraq/Afghan conflicts. I will have to hunt down that data. Side note: I don't expect "thanks" for being in the military. Just that we all treat each other with dignity, as human beings. A landfill is not where our airmen and soldiers belong. My heart goes out to the families that were affected.
