In reality, probably by forcing the "informed parental consent" issue, you would handle a large part of the problem, no? Makes it a lot harder to push on kids.

Oh that was a good update. And he is SO right-on re this Subject! A commercial I saw a few weeks ago...had several children with each diagnosis on the front of his shirt. And then, a PSA re our medicating our children. The ending: KID was on the front of his/her shirt! Was a really good piece...
And I've read about the govt's intention to step-it-up...the medicating of our children. (On an alternative website.) And parents are so often entirely dependent on what the 'SCHOOL' directs them to do, much less a DOCTOR!
And on a personal note, my former dtr-in-law managed to get hersef diagnosed with ADHD, and I truly believe it was in order to get her hands on an Amphetamine (Adderall). Is known to be the 'rage' with college kids at this time, according to the research I did at the time. NOTE: this is literally 'Speed'!

These sickos in power have no sense, no conscience. Can't Big Pharma extort money from us without poisoning our children? Can't they just say, "Look America, give us money or we will force dangerous psychotropic drugs down your kids' throats"?
Mandatory mental health screening is just another gateway to the Gulag.

My question is how would this type of program be administered? Who would provide second/third opinions? What if it's a small area and the selected screener is biased? Who ends up with veto power--the preferred psychologist or the school-selected one? I would think that these potential problems should be noted and given to guardians, but ultimately should NOT follow a student their entire lives. Ultimately, this entire idea is ludicrous. It's a dream for some mental health professionals (more clients!--yay!) and many psychopharmaceutical companies (more pills sold!--yay!) but ultimately, it results in over-medication and dependency.
Very Huge Issue
Psych-quacks were interested in drugging me back when I was in school, my mom had to fight to keep me off of them. Kids become zombies and killers on these meds.
Really glad to hear RP brining this much attention to this issue. RP's support of psychaitric reform legislation played a big part in my becoming a supporter of Paul in the first place.
It is the reason I support physicians and therapists ...

These hard working people graduated medical school and have their insurance, no association with drug cartel is going to bolster my opinion of them.

Our corrupt government
Our corrupt government doesn't want any competition with the capability of resisting oppression. Mental health screening is simply a euphemism for restricting the ability of the people to resist tyranny. After all, if one is deemed "mentally incompetent", then the right to bear arms ... True, in most cases the mental state of an individual shouldn't matter regardless of circumstance *, but we don't have constitutional government. We have a government that wants no resistance to it's agenda. It's not totally ironic that many of the psychopaths in government have access to the most destructive weapons, but normal people aren't supposed to have such access.
