Gingrich 22%
Paul 21%

There has been some major movement in the Republican Presidential race in Iowa over the last week, with what was a 9 point lead for Newt Gingrich now all the way down to a single point. Gingrich is at 22% to 21% for Paul with Mitt Romney at 16%, Michele Bachmann at 11%, Rick Perry at 9%, Rick Santorum at 8%, Jon Huntsman at 5%, and Gary Johnson at 1%.

Now DRUDGE main headline!!!

This is awesome.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

They just added

a great photo!

That photo is good!

It shows his "youthful spirit" (if you will)

it struck me

that way as well

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

PROOF Positive that...

..."ridicule is not often the test of TRUTH"

There's no question that this

There's no question that this poll puts Ron Paul firmly in the top tier. However, top tier status also has it's downsides. I fully expect to see an ad from Newt Gingrich or Mitt Romney featuring the "racist" newsletters or foreign policy any day now. Romney knows how to play dirty if you've seen his anti-Perry website. He'll say Ron Paul is weak on terrorism, weak on national defense, weak on Iran, etc. even though we know that's far from the truth.

We need to have a counter-attack ready like the Fight the Smears website used in the Obama campaign a couple of years ago. This is a vitally important step that needs to be taken to keep Ron Paul in the top tier. Otherwise, we'll watch the numbers sink down like we're seeing with Gingrich. Hopefully the campaign is working on something like that.

If they use...

The "racist" newsletters (not written or approved by him) are used, than that's a mistake in my view. Those allegations can easily be reputed.

And it probably won't

And it probably won't hurt.
1> it's old.
2> it's reasonably refuted. He didn't write it but the newsletter had his name on it.
3> Republicans are tired of being called racist. Remember this is the *Republican* primary. This may hurt with turnout for his youth vote. It may dampen enthusiasm. But if Dr. Paul has a thoughtful response he will do fine. It won't hit the enthusiasm like it did in 2007. That time it hurt.

I'd feel better if we were on

I'd feel better if we were on top. Keep up the work people, we want a BIG win.

This is awesome news. We need to stay focused, though! Keep pushing to the very end! And let's make this money bomb reflect these numbers!

This Thursday's debate

is going to be very interesting, to put it mildly. Gingrich must know by now that he is in a two-man race against Ron Paul. He might try to go on the attack against what he perceives to be Ron's achilles heel: foreign policy in general and Israel in particular. Or will he continue playing nice and hope for the best?

It is possible that Bachmann and Santorum might try to tear down Ron, as he is the de facto frontrunner among the conservative (anti-TARP, anti-health insurance mandates) candidates. Or they might continue to focus on "Newt Romney."

We can also count on Fox News throwing some nasty "gotcha" questions at Ron. This is their last chance to trip him up before the caucuses.

Needless to say, I'm very nervous about Thursday night's debate! Get plenty of rest, Ron.

they can try

it just means more talking time for RP

He's like that monster who absorbs energy.

Every time they attack him he only grows stronger. Except that he's no monster, obviously.

I was

totally going to say that. :)

I hope NG does keep the

I hope NG does keep the message to foreign policy and israel,
The more people hear RP talk about these things, the more the "oh, that makes sense" light goes on over their heads.

Bachmann and Santorum don't have anything on RP, they can't even try and attack him - If anything, the longer they stay in and snipe at Gingrich and Romney, the better.

Though I'd love to see this become a 4 man race before the new year - Santorum and Bachmann won't drop out until after iowa, cause they gots the faith.

Stay Focused

Be humble about this. We all know where gloating gets us in this world.

Mark O.

Not gloating

but it is hard to hide the excitement, I can almost smell the Free air.

I've been humbly confident

I've been humbly confident that RP was going to win Iowa all along. It's only a matter of time before Newt implodes, and Romney, well.... He doesn't stand a chance.

The government complacency is their down fall!!!

The government complacency is their down fall. The rebellious fewer that has swept through the world has come and there is no stopping it. Our revolution is beginning and the days of the Fed and the war machine days are numbered.

If I was Ron Paul I would create an amendment that would make any law null and void if they conflicted with the Constitution. I would create an agency that would go back and review all laws and start clearing house. I would get rid of a lot of agency such as Homeland Security, ATF, IRS, protect our borders with our troops, legalize marijuana, get out of the United Nations and NATO, and much more.

Let the revolution continue!!!

Even my toes are feel a zing after reading this poll!
