Hahaha: Former LP candidate Bob Barr endorses the Newt!

The Libertarian Party is such a joke, just like Bob "CIA" Barr.

Among the state and local officials announcing they are endorsing Newt Gingrich today are:

Georgia Congressmen Austin Scott, Lynn Westmoreland, Tom Price, Jack Kingston and Phil Gingrey. Former Georgia Congressmen Mac Collins and Bob Barr.

While parties and labels are somewhat necessary in the game

at this time it is also foolish for anyone that wants to restore and keep LIBERTY to fall for that powerful control technique.

Do you really need a label or party to set your mind free?

Doesn't it make sense that the very act of looking to a party for leadership and putting on a label is an important first step in losing your LIBERTY.

Why let a label or party do your speaking for you. Speak for yourself.

If all would only speak only for themselves there would be no establishment or elites or hierarchy to cook elections. With each having only the power of one, no more and no less, corruption would have no cost effective targets.

In short order, after using the current game to get our LIBERTY back, we need for people to understand the importance of not 3rd parties but 310 million parties to keeping that LIBERTY.

Information is power.

Political parties are set up to put voter information under centralized control so that those at the top can have leverage with candidates.

If voters organized themselves, parties would not be necessary. But how do you herd cats?

Libertarianism

is more a philosophy than it is a political ideology. I don't consider myself a Libertarian, but I agree with about 90% of everything the majority of people who do believe in. In this two-party system, our goal should be to take the Republican Party back to the days of Harding/Coolidge/Taft/Goldwater (without the tariffs and Fed).

Be careful when dismantling your own government

that you do not also dismantle your sovereignty.

what an f'n joke!

Barr is a GOP libertarian, if there ever was one (can anyone say, controlled opposition). So many "conservative" talking heads claim to be libertarian, from Larry Elder to Neil Boortz to G. Gordon Liddy. Yet they all resent Ron Paul in many ways. Libertarianism is ALL ABOUT mistrust for the state, but if libertarians can all be rounded into the bipartisan foreign policy consensus- they are worthless! War is the ultimate sacrament of the state.

And if you support state violence around the world and central planning by the Federal Reserve, then you are either a dumb@ass or controlled opposition!

Same as teaparty people who

Same as teaparty people who don't endorse RP.

but but but Barr's a real Libertarian!

LOL.. I knew that bitch was a phony. Every single "Freedom loving" Party.. has these types of fucks in it.

Do a better job of paying attention is what I say. If you hear doublespeak or you can say to yourself "He/She is 65% what I like" then DON'T vote for them.. switch parties if you have to, to find someone you do like or write someone in.

Stop settling because your favorite show is on and you can't bother with Googling any longer. We all are responsible for the douches we get in office.

Stop being the victim.

i really dont think this is personal with Barr

I dont think his friction with RP has anything to do with it. I think he's just being consistent with his values. He never was on board with what RP has been about. You dont sell your soul because youre mad at the pastor- ya simply go to a different church. He was never part of the flock. If he wants to be identified as a Newt-er it's his business. Thats cool.

It figures, he's being a whiny,

excuse my French colloquialism: a dickhead douche, just like Grinch is.

Actually, I'd argue that Barr is being personal, and a little piss-ant because the Doc endorsed Chuck Baldwin in 2008.

The arrogant SOB, like some entitled welfarist/warfarist statist LINO that he is that he honestly thought that he "deserved" to have the entire libertarian/voluntaryst/Constitutionalist movement's masthead just handed to him, as if it even belonged to Barr in the first place.

Granted, even though the Doc has been the leading voice for the Freedom Movement for over 40+ yrs, his humble nature would never proclaim such. But frankly, even if he were to verbalize or characterize himself in that manner, at age 76, considering he IS the rightful leader and champion of the movement, he CAN say it, and won't change the way I feel about him in the slightest. Not even a nanometer.

But with Barr, glad that he co-signed on to Bierfeldt's 4thAmd case vs. the TSA, but that's about it. Barr is no more "libertarian" than Paul Krugman is an Austrian Economist.

Actually I think him supporting Grinch is just fine. Plus, multiple marriages, shady past. What else is new in politics: a-holes stick to other a-holes.

GLAD he never endorsed the doc. It'd tarnish more that shine, either way.

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it's realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

That's why I didn't vote LP last election

Hopefully they will have the good sense to nominate Gary Johnson this time around, as I can gladly get behind him as a (distant) second choice.

He's worthless

Yeah, he's worthless. I'm pretty sure he snubbed Paul in 2008 by refusing to meet with him, then complaining when he didn't get endorsed by Ron Paul. Ignore him.

Bob Bore

Guess Bob Bore had another conversion moment listening to Gingrich last debate. That Gangrinch sure is charismatic.

Seriously Newt!? If he was

Seriously Newt!? If he was still pissed at Paul for not endorsing him then he should have endorsed a Libertarian, right? I voted for Barr in 2008. I should have just written in Ron Paul.

Barr refused to show up at the Press Club in '08

when he found out Ron Paul was not going to endorse him. Expect no love from Barr.

I remember when asked what he thought of Barr, RP said

I remember when asked what he thought of Barr in 2008, RP said something like "he's saying the things I like to hear." I took that as code for "he's saying all the right stuff, but I don't trust him." Then Barr had that little tantrum when Ron Paul tried to get the LP, Greens, Nader etc. to try to form some sort of coalition or something. Barr said he wasn't interested in that and then Ron Paul backed Chuck Baldwin. All of that made it pretty clear that Barr was bad news. His backing Newt now just proves that Ron Paul was correct not to trust him. Barr has lost what little credibility he may have had with this stunt.

Everything the government touches turns to mud...expensive mud.

i don't care what good libertarian party has done in the past

all i know is i became politically aware since 07, just like many others here, and since then there's been nothing but piss poor news coming out of the so-called 'libertarian side'.. sorry, i've stopped calling myself a libertarian, since the evidence of a tarnished label began mounting upwards to the katherine mangu incident.

oh, right, you're just a "libertarian" that's not "in the libertarian party".. okay, whatever. good luck distinguishing it to people to give a damn. rofl.

"libertarians" split right down the middle 50 50 for or against paul.. you insist on using a label that identifies you within a group in which 50% are your enemies? good luck. i'm gonna stay the hell away from that. pls stop reminding me of the difference between the 2% that call themselves libertarians and the 1% in libertarian party.. i swear to god, no one cares. libertarian = l+L

True Libertarianism is the MIses institute

Thats what Libertarian means and you should be proud to shout it, not shun a great term which has been abused and misguided

great individuals don't need labels

in fact any person who wears it on their sleeves is a joke. i don't remember seeing great individuals as tom woods, napolitano, jack hunter ever mention their 'libertarian'-leaning labels, unless pressed upon. in fact they shouldn't. they understand the issues better than 90% of the so-called 'libertarians'. why bother.

Whats your point

They do all the time, they just don't start every response with "I'm a Libertarian", Bastiat was about Liberty, how is that bad, you are running from labels that have been abused, labels arent good or bad

I've been a libertarian

my whole life. I voted for Paul in '88 and have always voted Libertarian until 2008 when switched...you all know why. But when Paul did not get the nomination and the Libertarian party put aside the amazingly intelligent, freedom-loving, and principled Mary Ruwar in order to offer Barr for their candidate....well, I just lost all respect for them. Ruwart really was a pure Libertarian soul and Barr is just...well...a neocon.

Yet another place the Revolution

got it right!

What has happened to the LP?

What has happened to the LP? It is becomming a disgrace to libertarianism.

Not going to believe this till I see some proof.

This doesn't add up though I would not be surprised if it turned out to be true.

Edit: I stand corrected, same press release is on his website. Who didn't suspect Barr as a plant?

I think the article is incorrect.

There are no other articles saying this, except for other articles referencing this one. From what I heard, Barr can't stand Gingrich.

Bwahahahaha!

Has anyone heard whom Wayne Allen Root will be endorsing? Or maybe he's holding out in hopes of getting the LP nomination. LOL

I wonder what "the producer" thinks about that?

If I recall he was working for the Barr campaign before Freedom Watch got picked up by Fox.

And I recall him defending Barr with extreme advocacy.

I wonder if he was doing his job, or if he was a true believer, and if the ladder, how does he feel now?

check your sources

Barr said this about Gingrich 4 days ago

"Gingrich is the l'enfant terrible of Republicans"

That's not very good, just saying

Wow, what a tool!

What self-respecting libertarian could even consider voting for, let alone endorsing Newt Gingrich. What does this man have against Ron Paul? Is there some kind of bad history between them?
