No, Protest against Fox on 1/3!!! It will hurt Ron Paul!!!
Submitted by DaveMac on Tue, 01/01/2008 - 20:44
This is a very bad idea and a classic trap/mistake. We should have a massive Ron Paul outreach day. All supporters hit the street and road blog, hand out RP lit/DVDs, etc. Do not fall for this trap. Protesting anything right before the primaries is insane and dangerous.

Protest by turning off the boob tube
and going out and contacting voters. Canvasing..
FOX Televised Sporting Events
How about supporters wearing their Ron Paul gear at FOX televised sporting events? The next big ones are Fiesta Bowl (1/2), Orange Bowl (1/3), and the BCS game (1/7).
We don't need a protest
I think a protest would be a bad move, especially right now... Let's keep things positive. Let's do what we always do best... Promoting Ron Paul's message of freedom and prosperity!
Postest? Rally?
A huge number of beautiful people peacefully holding Ron Paul signs isn't a bad thing - ever!
Has anyone else noticed that Ron Paul supporters are the best looking people involved in politics, or is it just me? ;)
Protest on Caucus day ineffective
I read Daily Paul forums every day, but I don't post very often, so most of you won't know me. I've been active politically and have been a Republican most of my adult life, up until 5 years ago, when I went Independent.
Like most of you, I dislike how Dr. Paul is treated by the media, especially Faux News. But please do not encourage a protest against Fox News on Jan 3, the day of the Iowa Caucus. This protest will not accomplish much and might backfire. The press will be completely focused on Iowa.
A protest against the news media will not gain many votes for Dr. Paul in future primaries, especially from average middle-class Republicans disillusioned by the other candidates. They want to know about the issues, not how crappy Fox News treats Dr. Paul.
Jan 3 is the kickoff day for the primaries. It's what we've all been working toward. Instead of using your energy protesting, use it to canvass and get more votes for Dr. Paul. There is still much work to be done and from here on in, we all should try and be very careful how we conduct ourselves and choose our battles wisely.
Would Dr. Paul stand outside a TV station and protest against Fox News? No, he'd just counter their poor behavior by educating people so that they will vote for him. He'll probably hold a rally in NH during the Fox Forum and make a great speech because he's above all that. That WILL be noticed.
Let's live and work by his example.
Let the voters in Iowa speak on Jan 3 instead.
Thank you.

we're just biding our time
just be patient. Let's see what happens. There will be plenty of time to boycott and the more that are on board after Iowa and NH the stronger the boycott. Actually, we should wait until after Super Tuesday. Just so we can stand as a huge united front. The thought of a boycott will have them trembling. Just be patient. I know you want revenge or justice now, but it is not time. The time will be right soon. But not now!
What would Ben Franklin do?
I think he'd flip 'em the bird and go about business.

STRONGLY DISAGREE! PROTEST LOUD AND HARD!
What do you think this is?! This is possibly the last chance he has to win a few more votes that could make the difference between winning and losing! A healthy protest is democracy in action, and never has it been more called for. Who cares what they say about us?! They've been doing it already, calling us names, making fun of us... Who really cares?! We need to make our voices heard loud and clear. Anyone who thinks this might hurt Paul doesn't understand that sometimes playing nice guy doesn't get results. These are bullies, and every bully needs to get beat up one time. It's time we do everything in our power to absolutely WALLOP Fox news. "Extremism in the Defense of Liberty is no vice!" Get out there and make some noise! NOW!

i think the mistake you make..
is that you underestimate the resolve and motivation of this media enemy? Maybe you were naive enough to expect fair coverage? They have been shutting out this message FOREVER - and this was expected. I agree with others here, our energy should be directed in a positive way towards winning over SENSIBLE and honest people who need to hear the message and will be receptive.
And sure, as we tell people about Ron Paul and the campaign the BIAS by Fox and all major media will be self-evident, and that's how they will lose credibility and ultimately viewers and dollaz$$$!
Protest is a bad idea
I'm a former Army Sgt. I understand the use of force and bullies. Ron Paul said "If you step in a snake and get bite, whose fault is it, the snake or the person who stepped in". This is not the time to protest. This is the time to spread RP's positive message. I want to know exactly who suggested this protest. I want his or her name and location.
"I want his or her name and location." Wow scary ...I'm glad you
"I want his or her name and location." Wow, scary ...I'm glad you are on our side! LOL =D

go ahead and boycott
but i think that whether he gets into the debate depends on how he does in iowa.
dont think a protest will do too much... better to use your energy toward positive campaigning.
Don't protest... short term
Don't protest... short term we can ignore them. They have placed their credibity on the line (indeed, I believe they have doubled). Focus on the goal. Go out and canvas. We need to do well in Iowa certainly. However, beating the street with RP's message will help where you live and in time will show up in the national polls. When RP has a good 3rd place showing (or better) in Iowa the cause will have exacted a mighty price from Fox news. Focus and calm... think happy thoughts! Iowa is just around the corner.
I Agree With You at This Very Critical Time...
Ron Paul supporters will be watched very closely over the next few days and weeks. It is very important that everyone watch their P's and Q's. We don't need any more contraversy at this time.
Of COURSE...
we SHOULD protest. It doesn't have to take away from Ron Paul campaigning. JUST STOP WATCHING AND STOP GOING TO TACO BELL DAMMIT!
IT'S NOT THAT HARD AND IT DOESN'T TAKE THAT MUCH ENERGY!
OK
The protest called for people showing up at Fox stations and protesting. That is bad and should not happen.....at this time.
Don't be fooled!
Don't be fooled into thinking that you should keep trading with those that are trying to take Our country and Our Freedom! The majority of our time right now would likely be better spent trying to find more people to vote for Ron Paul, but there's nothing wrong with spending a few minutes to see what businesses are Our Enemy, and what businesses may be Our friends, and then changing our habits of trading with them accordingly. We don't need to drop all our efforts supporting the campaign and focus on boycotting...there's not even a need for that. Just learn which businesses are friends, and which are enemies, and trade with them accordingly, and spread the word about them to your circle of family, friends, and others. This is nothing more than having the integrity to act on your beliefs. Why would you trade with your enemy? Would you continue trading with someone that is trying to kill you? No? Then why trade with an enemy that is trying to take away your liberty? Why so proudly say "Give me Liberty, or give me death", but then trade with those that are trying to take your liberty? Aren't they your enemy? Would it not be better to fight them for your liberty, than to live with them as your master?
This is what the message is all about! FREEDOM! You can't attain freedom by doing nothing! Freedom is not free! You must be willing to sacrifice everything for it! You must be willing to fight the enemy that is trying to take your freedom. If the enemy is a business, don't trade with that business, and then tell everyone why you won't, and stick to it. Would it not be wise to boycott your enemy as soon as you knew who the enemy was? Would it not be wise to find out who your enemy is?
I do not think that it requires so much time to boycott the enemy that it can slow down our campaign. In fact I think it can help us push our campaign further. We have to promote freedom in all ways. To support freedom in some ways and support slavery in other ways is against our integrity and principle, and achieves only more of the same!
NOT
NOT
REALLY Bad timing.... BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD
"and in other news... those Ron Paul lunatics protested fox stations"
From a competition standpoint alone this makes no sense... Iowa Caucus news will dominate. Period.

PLEASE use your energy for positive promoting of Dr. Paul
This is exactly what Faux News wants. Do not let them win. Ignoring them, cancelling their services, not backing their advertisers is fine, but if you protest in masses they win!
Please remember that this is NOT what Dr. Paul would want you to do. Use your positive enthusiasm to promote freedom instead - we need that more than we need Faux News. They will go by the wayside once President Paul takes over anyway . . . that is how we will win!
Bad idea
This protest should not happen.
This will hurt Dr. Paul and us
Someone is calling for a National Fox protest on the 3rd. The post is up here.
Going to local Fox stations on the 3rd and protesting is a waste of time and dangerous. We should have a MASSIVE RP outreach day and spread a positive message.
I Agree & Disagree
I agree that bombarding Faux News with phone calls & e-mails is a waste.
I believe that a boycott against all their sponsors is a worthwhile endeavor.
of course we should protest and boycott and rise up
“When a resolute young fellow steps up to the great bully, the world, and takes him boldly by the beard, he is often surprised to find it comes off in his hand, and that it was only tied on to scare away the timid adventurers.”-- Ralph Waldo Emerson
The squeaky wheel always gets the grease. I am writing several letters to fox and my local fox station and am contacting the sponsors. I want to buy a new toyota this year as I always get a new one every four years but not this year. I will not be associated with company that is part and parcel to exterminating liberty and freedom. We need to stand up to these bullies and push back HARD
Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed. -- Martin Luther King, Jr
dont know
what protest you are referring to but anything that reflects negativly on fox helps our cause and will help Dr Paul.
The Abuse of Greatness is when it disjoins remorse from power. - Shakespeare
isn't protesting a last resort?
aen't there SO MANY POSITIVE things we should be doing? Aren't there enough people that don't know what Dr. Paul is all about - that we should be bringing them the positive message instead of their first impression being "the candidate with the angry protestors"?
No protest
There was a post here that called for a nation-wide Fox protest at their stations on the 3rd of January. This is very dangerous and could result in fatal negative press. We should be pissed about Fox, however, if we have a massive, positive, outreach day, we use it to our advantage with little risk.
