Protest FOX? Protest what? Freedom of choice?
Why are people going down this path? FOX does not decide who becomes president, we do. FOX is a private company and has every right to make this decision. If you want to do anything, make it a rally for Ron Paul.
If your willing to go out and protest, then be willing to spread the message of freedom. If we protest this event, it will only come back to haunt us. Lets take the high ground and continue to do what we have been doing, but take it up a notch.
We don't need to give the media reason to marginalize us. Give the media something worthy to be talked about. Lets take the high road and do something productive.
FOX isn't what brought us all here. FOX didn't raise the near 20 million dollars this past quarter. FOX didn't convert your friends and family. FOX didn't inspire you. FOX didn't even bring you to this forum. QUIT relying on the damned media. Everyone keeps going on and on how the media is censoring Paul! Who cares! Its not their job! Its your job!
No TV station, No newspaper, No magazine, No blog, No forum can replace person to person contact! Never forget that!

We need to realize that if this protest happens, the very media which everyone doesn't trust is going to be the one to report this event. When we earned 6 million dollars on one day, it barely showed up on some of the major networks. How are they going to spin a protest? Why are we relying on the media for anything? We are less then a few days and weeks away from important events. If people are willing to rally and protest, are they also willing to spend the same time out on the streets? Isn't getting the message out there far more important then what FOX does and doesn't do? The media has already characterized this grassroots effort as frigned, anarchist, conspiracy theorist, kooks, etc. How will this look? How can they make it look? Even the most honest things Paul has said have been spun to the point that the truth is lost in the media's lie.
People talk about getting the truth out there and I say Paul's message inspires people to find the truth. Paul constantly is talking about what we don't "know." Focus on the message!

I am for a "protest" against the use of FOX related products. I think a boycott, stock sell-off, etc. are great ways of communicating directly to the people who run and finance FOX. My personal opinion is that a Physical protest will be time wasted. It again relies upon the media to proliferate the message. Because of this, a "good" message can be distorted to fit the purpose of the one sharing it. Many of us are wary of the MSM, especially in the recent months. I think it is only prudent that every action the grassroots effort takes should be thoughtfully considered.

How can we forget that the Democrats boycotted FOX for their first debate? Who was impressed? They were impressed with themselves. But this exclusion of Ron Paul by FOX has impressed the Democrats and us, making them think that Ron Paul has something to say that FOX wants to hide. I encourage the Democrats on this point.

Which is more important? Getting Ron Paul elected, or protesting Fox and the MSM so you can feel better that you've done something to stick it to the PTB.

I read Daily Paul forums every day, but I don't post very often, so most of you won't know me. I've been active politically and have been a Republican most of my adult life, up until 5 years ago, when I went Independent.
Like most of you, I dislike how Dr. Paul is treated by the media, especially Faux News. But please do not encourage a protest against Fox News on Jan 3, the day of the Iowa Caucus. This protest will not accomplish much and might backfire. The press will be completely focused on Iowa, and any coverage they give the protest will be negative.
A protest against the news media will not gain many votes for Dr. Paul in future primaries, especially from average middle-class Republicans totally disillusioned by the other candidates and looking around for a good man. They want to know about the issues, not how crappy Fox News treats Dr. Paul.
Jan 3 is the kickoff day for the primaries. It's what we've all been working toward. Instead of using your energy protesting, use it to canvass and get more votes for Dr. Paul. There is still much work to be done and from here on in, we all should try and be very careful how we conduct ourselves and choose our battles wisely.
Would Dr. Paul stand outside a TV station and protest against Fox News? No, he'd just counter their poor behavior by educating people so that they will vote for him. He'll probably hold a rally in NH during the Fox Forum and make a great speech because he's above all that. That WILL be noticed, and is a positive counter to what Faux News is doing.
Let's live and work by his example.
Let the voters in Iowa speak on Jan 3 instead. If Dr. Paul wins Iowa or places well, the egg is on Fox News face.

Ron Paul should stage a running gun battle with Fox
He should call a press conference and state that Fox is a war propaganda network and that he will have nothing further to do with them. He should then pull out of the 1/10/08 South Carolina debate to be held on Fox.
The Democrats have already taken this position.

The people don't have a voice in major print or through the transmission of radio and television. Protests and petitions have changed nothing for so many years. Clearly, the FCC doesn't care.

2008 US Presidential candidate Ron Paul supporters raised an unprecedented $10 million plus during two single day fundraising efforts. Real supporters putting their money behind a candidate they truly believe can become the next President of the United States.
Fox News doesn't see it that way. That organization has excluded the long time Texas Representative from participating in an upcoming televised New Hampshire debate. In response, supporters of Ron Paul have called for boycotting the cable news network and its sponsors. With nearly $20 million raised for the Paul campaign during the 4th quarter, there is speculation that a "boycott" move could seriously affect sponsors.
- Fox News May Want to Look to its Own Past-
Back in 1997, I was one of many who worked on a case involving Fox News Corp, which at that time was a small upcoming cable news organization going up against powerhouse CNN. Chicag0-based law firm, Kirkland & Ellis, represented Fox News at the time.
CNN was owned by Time Warner. Time Warner dominated cable television in New York City and, while Fox news tickers flashed from its state-of-the-art studio in Midtown Manhattan's most prime real estate along Avenue of the Americas, few if anyone in the city could actually view Fox News. That's because Time Warner excluded them.
When Time Warner bought out Ted Turner's Turner Broadcasting, a federal antitrust consent decree required Time Warner to carry a second all-news channel in addition to Time Warner's own CNN. Time Warner selected MSNBC as the secondary news network, instead of Fox News. Fox News claimed that this violated an agreement to carry Fox News, and Ailes used his connections to persuade Mayor Giuliani to carry Fox News and Bloomberg Television on two underutilized city-owned cable channels, which he did.
New York City also threatened to revoke Time Warner's cable franchise for not carrying FOX News.
A lawsuit was filed by Time Warner against the City of New York claiming undue interference and for inappropriate use of the city's educational channels for commercial programming. News Corporation countered with an antitrust lawsuit against Time Warner for unfairly protecting CNN. This led to an acrimonious battle between Murdoch and Turner, with Turner publicly comparing Murdoch to Adolf Hitler while Murdoch's New York Post ran an editorial questioning Turner's sanity. Giuliani's motives were also questioned, as his then-wife was a producer at Murdoch-owned WNYW-TV. In the end, Time Warner and News Corporation signed a settlement agreement to permit Fox News to be carried on New York City cable system beginning in October 1997, and to all of Time Warner's cable systems by 2001, though Time Warner still does not carry Fox News in all areas.
The end result was that a lot of people residing in New York City felt jilted by Time Warner's decision not to run Fox News. Once they were required to do so, many tuned in en masse and found themselves liking the product that Fox News had to offer.
Ron Paul supporters, likewise, have suggested that exclusion from this upcoming event could backfire.
"They (Fox News) are scared of me!" Ron Paul himself is quoted as saying.

The Fox affiliate in New Hampshire has said it had limited space in its studio — a souped-up bus — and that it invited candidates who had received double-digit support in recent polls. Likewise, Ron Paul continues to be the most searched for candidate on the Web. Paul himself has suggested that his supporters are less likely to be reflected in national and local polls since many have never voted before and a large percentage do not have access to land-line phones. Also, it is widely speculated that many of the so-called "undecided" votes will go towards Paul. The Republican's treasure chest is being utilized wisely via last minute ad campaigns that paint the Texas Congressman as a pro-life, pro-gun Patriot who served his country well during Vietnam.
Jesse Benton, Paul's spokesman, said it was a "big mistake" not to include his candidate, especially given Paul's recent success in fundraising. He said the campaign has been trying to reach Fox News to explain the decision, but its calls had not been returned.
"There very well might be some bias," Benton said. "Ron brings up some topics that aren't very popular with Fox News, as in fiscal responsibility and withdrawing from the war in Iraq ... that does leave us scratching our heads a little bit about whether it was deliberate. Based on metrics, I don't see how you can possibly exclude Dr. Paul."
New Hampshire Republican Party Chairman Fergus Cullen releases the following statement regarding primary weekend debates:
“Limiting the number of candidates who are invited to participate in debates is not consistent with the tradition of the first in the nation primary. The level playing field requires that all candidates be given an equal opportunity to participate – not just a select few determined by the media prior to any votes being cast.”
“Therefore, the New Hampshire Republican Party calls upon all media organizations planning pre-primary debates or forums for both parties to include all recognized major candidates in their events.”
“The New Hampshire Republican Party has notified FOX News of our position, and we are in ongoing discussions with FOX News about having as many candidates as possible participate in the forum scheduled for January 6.”

Ron Paul supporters will be holding rallies, writing letters to the editor, boycotting all sponsors, calling Fox news and in an additional move there is even talk of contacting all shareholders of the company that owns Fox news (I will let you look that up yourself) and is advising everyone to sell sell sell and for those of you not able to sell, buy short. I am not offering any advice, I am only reporting what I have seen in print.
It should be noted that Gambling911.com certainly doesn't advocate shorting News Corp stocks. Reynolds is simply passing along information she gathered across the Net.
A look at the News Corp Yahoo! finance forums display what Reynolds is alluding to. That board was inundated with Ron Paul supporters blasting the company even though trading would not commence for a full 36 hours from press time.
"Fox is playing the AMERICAN PUBLIC for FOOLS. How dare they!" cries out one poster.
"Murdoch and Fox are desperate and could care less about the first amendment and the truth. Complete cowards," voiced another disgruntled Ron Paul supporter.
On Monday, News Corp's shares had fallen .19%.

I don't think I can protest..I'm too weak from not being able to eat anywhere because of the boycott...I'm too weary from changing cable companies every five minutes and my fingers are sore from all the email and phone protests I'm doing..My wife is mad at me because she can't shop at her 6 favorite stores due to the boycott..My grand kids are angry at me because I can't take them to their favorite place, Burger King..I just hope I can go on living..

Fox News is a Problem
I've read your comment and I disagree with physical protests not being effective. We held protests here in Indianapolis because the government is not following the rule of law, thus our property taxes are out of control. In a recent October protest, we had people dressed up as characters like "Tax Hell" - looked a lot like Jason (the horror movie) and so forth and images are important because it helps people associate a message. In the case of Fox News and protesting, I believe people should go out there and make a story, but do it with symbolic messages and use press releases to the other media. In fact, get the other mainstream media to report the situation and have fun. This alone will make Fox News look bad and, in the age of media wars, it could give them a little ammunition to attack their opponent.

I view anyone who wants to jump up and down in front of a Fox station, right before the primaries, as part of the problem. This is not the time and you will HURT the Paul campaign. Having a protest now is beyond a bad idea. It's dangerous and leaves us wide open for fatal negative press.

• Give two speeches at local Republican clubs on why they should vote for Ron Paul.
• Given money to the main campaign
• Given money to grassroots campaigns
• Canvassed my neighborhood
• Stocked my local GOP office with Ron Paul literature
• Put together hundreds of Ron Paul signs and banners
• And let Fox know that I wont support them and I wont support their advertisers. This isn't a matter of "one thing or the other". It's a matter of doing it all, all at once. I do it all baby.
