Money Bomb Overload?
I don't know if it is a bad thing with all these money bombs being announced. Money is money, whether it comes in one day or over many days. But, it seems as though people are just out there trying to be the one who organized the next big money bomb (i.e. seeking personal opportunity). I'm for letting the same person who organized the last two record breaking money bombs organize the next one. I also thought that Jan 20 would be a good money bomb day since it is the state of the Union. However I've heard three different dates being announced and then there is the Ron Paul Payday. That was a good idea because it offers the opportunity for a consistent and reliable flow. Although, it doesn't appear as though that is really catching on. So, just contribute as much as you can and know that whether Dr. Paul gets a consistent flow or huge spurts, money is money and he needs it. I would close by saying that single-day fundraising feats are more likely to get media attention.

According to that E-mail we
According to that E-mail we need $27 Million.
But my feeling is that if we need that much it needs to be spent by Super Tuesday.
Which means the campaign needs $27 Million with-in the next 3 weeks or so.
How do we do that?
Tracy
Is there a new goal for this
Is there a new goal for this quarter? I'd say set it at 25 million.
I agree
"Ron Paul can raise money" is no longer a hot media story. now he just needs the money.
Too many money bombs
could be counterproductive. Even if they do get some media attention, the talk is all about the money, the MONEY, instead of the MESSAGE. I think some voters may be getting turned off by that. As a matter of fact, I am one of those. I cringe when yet another interviewer starts talking about our money bombs. I don't need a money bomb gimmick to get me to donate. If Ron Paul needs it, I'll keep on giving regardless.
I AGREE - Trevor should
Organize any future money bombs.
FWIW
The 20th is the day that Chuck says he is gonna help Muck raise a buck.. well... TEN MILLION OF THEM...
So hmm... do we go up against them??/ do we go before?? or do we just donate when we can and say.... there aint nothin left to prove... we did that.. NOW LETS MAX OUT!!

Super Tuesday is Too Close
I think the "money" bombs have had their effect. Super Tuesday is too close and the campaign needs the money sooner rather than later.
From this point on, I think we should contribute what we can, as soon as we can.

It's not just the money
It's not just the money bombs that are overplayed, it's also the other things, like callers in Iowa, the blimp, LRC, etc. Every time I turn on my computer someone is asking for money pertaining to Ron Paul. I think the money bombs are being diluted because of this. I know all these things need money, so let's hope for strong showings in Iowa and NH as that will stimulate more "fuel for the fire."
Money is most valuable NOW
The money bombs were unbelievable but they may be getting overplayed. The second didn't get half the attention of the first and of course more was donated.
The reality is time is SHORT. Money donated now can be spent NOW and hopefully attract more that can donate. To wait until January 22 is to leave only two weeks before when the majority of the primaries.
Money donations build momentum in more supporters and more money, that momentum needs to be built now.
If you still have any room or intention to donate your contribution has the most effect right now and decreases with each passing day.
Whatever is done needs to be done quickly.
Joe
It's human nature, I guess... people like to witness big things
happen, to be part of it. Small daily donations are boring to most people. They don't feel the excitement, me included. The money bombs are a great motivational tool and we need to keep using them. They work!

I hate giving too much
I hate giving too much credit to one person, but I know how to give credit where credit is due.
Trevor Lyman did an awesome job organizing the last two money bombs.
I, personally, am in favor for waiting till after the Iowa caucus, see what happens, and go from there. I'm sure after the caucus, Mr. Lyman will come up with another idea that people will jump on board for.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The next money bomb will
The next money bomb will either be initiated by Iowa/NH results, or mooted by them. At this point, money is no longer the issue. Boot on the ground and asses in seats are.

It has always been this way...
It has always been this way...it truly runs on the free market of ideas...the popular ones take off...the less popular ones don't. The many ideas get vetted here and on ronpaulforums.com and the most popular ones via a 'democratic' vote rise to the top...right in line with Ron Paul's stance and the American ideal :P

There is a new money bomb
There is a new money bomb popping up every other day. We need to get it organized. It seems all over the place. Let's see what happens after Thursday and then make a decision that sticks.
Grass roots is not command from the top
Plenty of competing money bombs will be organized by different individuals. You pick and choose which excites you enough to contribute.
This is not only the free market which Ron Paul loves, but it is the best way to win. The free market always brings people what they want, so should not we have a free market in supporting our leader?
Too many people have been over toilet trained and can't just let shit happen without discomfort. Get accustomed to it cause the free market in politics is erupting.

Organization is key.
Organization is key. Without we won't get far. So far we have been somewhat organized, such as Nov 5, Dec 16, meet up groups so we should not let it slip.
The Great American "Carpetbomb" of Money multiple day event
was a good compromise.
The Great American "Carpetbomb" of Money multiple day event, Starting January 15th , 12 A.M eastern and ending on Jan. 22nd (MLK Day 2008) at 12am eastern. Each day has a special significance, from civil rights and freedom of religion, to the anniversary of the beginning of the first Gulf War, and Franklin's Birthday.

Background:
Originally, I made a video about freedom of conscience and encouraged people of all faiths to support the effort to preserve religious freedom and the true INTENT of the founding fathers regarding separation of church and state (government could not impose or prohibit religion) using select quotes from Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and our man Dr. Ron Paul. (Jan. 16th is National Freedom of Religion Day). Some thought it narrow in scope. I suggested that the scope be broadened.
Since January 16th, 1991 was the date the first Gulf War began, I suggested,
"Let this January 16th represent the beginning of a change in foreign policy, the turning of the tide toward individual liberty, and freedom of conscience! Support the effort on January the 16th!"
Others were concerned that the event would overshadow other events.
One person suggested that Jan. 17th be celebrated, as it was Ben Franklin's Birthday, and there were others suggesting that we have a fundraiser on Jan. 21st in honor of MLK.
Eventually, the compromise was to use Ron's own words in IOWA, "Peace, Freedom and Prosperity" and that sounded good. We decided to unify our message and support each other's effort.
We urge you support this message which is Ron's own.
Donation ideas? I thought maybe people could donate $17.76 (has been suggested before) per day. If everyone donated $17.76 per day from the 15th midnight to midnight the 22nd it would equal $124.32. You can donate all seven days, or one lump sum on your day of choice. Everyone could donate what they are able. That would not only give more people a chance to give, different paydays happen on different days. Think of it, for the cost of a pizza out ($17.76), you can help change the world and spread the message of liberty for the whole world to see. Freedom is ringing!

We can't do it without your help.Credit? Who cares! What matters is that Ron has the funds to spread his message of freedom and get himself elected. We all have to reach in our pockets and make freedom happen. We have already made history. Seize the day of your choice, or seize the week! DO what you are able.
We need to push this effort, we are running out of time. Thanks,
Mike

Efforts vs. Effectiveness
I have been wowed by the immense amount of talent, vigor, and enthusiasm behind the Ron Paul grassroots.
That said, a lot of the comments here recognize that not all efforts are effective. Snarly letter writing can be counter-productive. Obnoxious sign displays may raise the wrong kind of awareness. Folks seeking too much of a good thing (or perhaps publicity) misunderstand the emotional allure and keys to success for the money bombs. Not all Youtube (or campaign) videos send a message that attracts new voters, which is needed more now that the early name recognition battle is being won.
I like the blimp. Very clever, and I was a skeptic (and funder) on day one. I'm for additional money bombs. I'd like to see more mass gatherings (perhaps in accessible warmer locations, like Florida). There is more to be done at a broad level, outside of the day-to-day talking to the undecideds. I think forums like DP are excellent at analyzing competing ideas, although more ideas would be successful if we were honest about which of the ideas floated were inappropriate, ill-timed, or poorly thought. We can run a money bomb daily, but everyone knows that wouldn't work. I suggest more honesty within the grassroots, and I will continue to vote with my wallet on those ideas I think are intelligently thought and will give a good return on investment in terms of awareness or votes.
The Problem with the "Pay Day"
IMHO, here are the problems with the "pay day."
I wanted to say this when the "pay day" concept came up, but since I'm capped and can no longer participate, I felt I should probably just keep quiet. However, it seems the pay day is not gaining traction, and IMHO, the above is why.
