Regarding vaccines, we were told these things with a straight-face by experts and officials

I have been collecting news articles for several years now regarding vaccines and it never ceases to amaze me the quotes which come out-of-the-mouths of OFFICIALS or EXPERTS in an attempt to obfuscate, deny, cover-up, downplay or gloss-over any adverse effects suffered by humans and many other issues surrounding vaccines.
This list will grow as I come across more and more of these quotes.

Head injury cause of death for Asheville teenager
http://www.citizen-times.net/archive/article/?id=71631
by Rebeccah Cantley-Falk, STAFF WRITER
published Dec. 1, 2004 4:20 p.m.
ASHEVILLE - A head injury, and not an allergic reaction, was the cause of death for a 15-year-old Asheville boy who fainted after receiving a Hepatitis B vaccine, a Buncombe County Medical Examiner said Wednesday.
Kennie Ray Nelson Jr., 15, died Tuesday morning just minutes after receiving the vaccine, which led his family to question whether he had experienced some type of reaction to it. Lori Watkins said her son fainted, went into convulsions and then died around 11:30 a.m. at Asheville Children's Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at Mission Hospitals, hospital spokeswoman Merrell Gregory said.
Nelson hit the back of his head when he fainted, which ultimately caused his death, a Buncombe County Medical Examiner said Wednesday. Brain damage can cause the heart to speed up, slow down or even stop, the examiner said.
"He hit his head, and that caused a bouncing of the brain, damaging the frontal lobe of the brain," he said. "That caused a response from his brain to his heart. It had nothing to do with the vaccine."
Watkins had taken her son to have his vaccinations updated in preparation for an outdoors program he planned to attend. The incident was confusing for Nelsons family because recently he had a physical exam and had no known health problems, Watkins said.
"He was the picture of health," she said. "He was doing weight training in school. He was just a bubble of life."

NM woman sues, alleges HPV vaccine hurt daughter

Cossette Wheeler, a University of New Mexico microbiology professor who helped develop and test Gardasil, said there's no evidence suggesting deaths or injuries among girls who have received it are attributable to the vaccine.
"People develop seizure disorders out of thin air -- young kids, old kids, everybody," she said.

European Medicines Agency Confirms That Presence Of Unexpected Viral DNA In Live Attenuated Vaccines Does Not Raise Public Health Concerns
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/208545.php
The European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) has finalised a review on the impact of the detection, using a new testing method, of DNA fragments from viral agents in some live attenuated vaccines. The Committee concluded that the presence of unexpected viral DNA in these vaccines does not pose a risk to public health, because the type of virus found does not cause disease in humans.
The review was initiated at the request of the Agency's Executive Director following the detection of viral fragments in manufactured vaccines. A team of researchers tested different vaccines using a high-tech method called metagenomics, which is normally used to survey microorganisms present in a specific environment by searching for DNA/RNA material. When this method was applied to vaccines, the researchers found unexpected viral DNA from porcine circovirus (PCV, a virus commonly found in meat and other foods) in rotavirus vaccines.

Vaccines with harmful adjuvants given to children
http://www.hindu.com/2010/12/24/stories/2010122464742000.htm
Bhopal/ Indore: Adjuvants with severe physiological side effect have been administered to hundreds of children during vaccine trials conducted at a government hospital in Indore over the last few years, and that too without the approved Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
The trials conducted on at least 836 children at the Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya, the paediatric division of the Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital, were spiked with adjuvants that contain high levels of mercury, aluminium, detergents, pesticides and human carcinogens.
Other adjuvants used include Tween-80 (detergent), 2-Phenoxyethanol (pesticide), Formaldehyde (carcinogen), and Amorphous Aluminium Hydroxyphosphate Sulphate (aluminium).
The adjuvants were administered along with vaccines such as HPV 503 cervical cancer vaccine, H1N1 flu vaccine, hepatitis vaccine, easy five vaccine and Imovax polio vaccine.
The trials were conducted without the required SOP by hospital paediatrician Hemant Jain.
In reply to an RTI query, Dr. Jain stated: “To the best of my knowledge, none of the adjuvants used to boost the immunity of vaccines has any clinically significant side effect.”
However, when contacted by The Hindu about the fact that the administered adjuvants had harmful ingredients such as mercury, pesticides and carcinogens, Dr. Jain expressed ignorance.
“I don't know anything about the contents of the adjuvants, but they have always been used with vaccines. You should ask the companies about adjuvants,” he said.

Doctor actually suggests NOT reading vaccine package inserts because it would lower vax rates (news video)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CdBscXrfZOc
"My fear or concern is that if everybody took out the package insert would be that a lot of folks wouldn't understand the material, and any possible side effects that could happen must be listed - the FDA has us list that in the insert - and I'm afraid of the understanding - as a physician - of what we call adherence-compliance - I'm afraid that would go down, and our numbers are some of the lowest we have - in the area around Houston - we can do much better. I'm afraid reading the package insert would only make that worse."

Vaccine may trigger infant epilepsy onset
http://www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2010/05/05/2890848.htm
By Tan Ee Lyn Tan Ee Lyn – Tue May 4, 6:33 pm ET
HONG KONG (Reuters) – Childhood vaccines may trigger early onset of a severe form of infant epilepsy, but researchers say the disorder is ultimately caused by defective genes and lifesaving vaccines should not be withheld from these children.
The researchers said they feared the study published in the Lancet medical journal would scare parents away from getting their children vaccinated but stressed the babies in the study would likely have developed seizures within months regardless of the vaccine.
"These kids already had that genetic abnormality, (so) regardless of the relationship with the vaccine, they would have actually had that disorder happen to them anyway," she adds.
"Essentially, there is no proof that people should not be vaccinated ... from concerns about it causing the onset of that disease."

Doctors fear legislation could discourage parents from getting children vaccinated
http://www.tampabay.com/news/health/doctors-fear-legislation...
Sen. Jeremy Ring, a member of a governor's task force on autism spectrum disorders, and Rep. Kevin Ambler, R-Tampa, are sponsoring legislation that would require parents to give signed consent before their children get vaccines that are required to enter school.
"It's about having a face-to-face discussion," said Ring, a Broward County Republican.
But opponents say signed consent — generally reserved for surgery and other major treatments — will only create needless anxiety.
"We don't want anything that's going to put more hurdles up," said Dr. Tommy Schectman, a Palm Beach County pediatrician and executive board member for the Florida Pediatric Society.
He also said requiring a signature by a parent or legal guardian can cause delays because children are often brought into clinics by family members who may not be authorized to sign.
Schectman adds that because signed informed consent is usually reserved for higher-risk procedures, the requirement may make parents think vaccinations are risky, when they're not.

Money without mandates: Local expert decries dearth of 'deciders' in disaster preparation
http://www.stlbeacon.org/content/view/100818/482/
Mandatory vaccination can only be imposed at the state level. Governors make that call but only after declaring a state of emergency. The pandemic that began last summer fizzled before vaccination requirements were even considered in Missouri. Overall, compulsory inoculation is a situation that most authorities want to avoid.
"We don't ever want to get to the point where we tie people down on a gurney and inject them," said symposium speaker Dan Stier (right), with the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. "But once you have mandatory vaccination, then [you can enforce it by saying], 'If you're not getting your child vaccinated, they don't get into school.'"
Carrying out mandatory vaccination in those beyond school age poses a bigger dilemma.
"It's easier to enforce things in schools, but how do you enforce it with adults?" Evans said in an interview. "It would really be the last-case scenario because we realize it's almost impossible."
Closing schools is another important consideration during a pandemic, one that's determined by each school district. It's also a situation in which no one wants to be wrong. Overreacting is a better policy than under-reacting, according to Evans, but it may not be the popular choice.

According to Dr. Paul Offit, one of the top shills for the vaccine industry:
From: PEDIATRICS Vol. 109 No. 1 January 2002, pp. 124-129
http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/109/1/124.full
“ …..each infant would have the theoretical capacity to respond to about 10 000 vaccines at any one time ………… so the estimated number of vaccines to which a child could respond is conservative.”

More Mass Kids In School Without Vaccinations
http://www.thebostonchannel.com/investigative/20309509/detai...
BOSTON -- A Team 5 Investigates review of Department of Public Health records finds the number of parents seeking exemptions for immunizations has been steadily rising. The number is growing despite a declining number of kindergarten students over the past decade.
The number of exemptions was .77 percent in 1998 and is now 1.3 percent. Religious exemptions have more than doubled in the past decade.
"I think it's horrible," said Dr. John Cohen, a pediatrician and staunch supporter of vaccination. "There's no religion in this world that says you shouldn't immunize your child."

Measles case confirmed in central Iowa, emergency declared
State health officials declared a “public health emergency” Tuesday after a test confirmed a case of measles in an unvaccinated Dallas County baby who apparently picked up the disease in India.
Dr. Patricia Quinlisk, medical director for the Iowa Department of Public Health, said many Americans falsely recall measles as a benign childhood illness. “I get asked by medical students, ‘Which disease are you most afraid of?' And they expect me to say Ebola or SARS or something like that – but, it’s measles,” she said. “I don’t think people understand how bad it can be, how many people can get seriously ill and, unfortunately, how many people can die from this disease. It’s bad and it’s probably the most spreadable disease we have in our society.”

Bill Gates: mobile health technology will save lives, help overpopulation

Gates told an audience of more than 2,000 that if we could register every worldwide birth on a cell phone, we could ensure that children receive the proper vaccines.
"If you could register every birth on a cell phone—get fingerprints, get a location—then you could [set up] systems to make sure the immunizations happen.”
Gates said he’d like to see a birth registration system...
When we look at something like infant mortality, there’s a certain level you can’t get below if you can’t do C-sections.” He said doing a caesarean section delivery requires a sterile environment, but Gates said it’s fairly routine, so it could be done by a robot.

(not vaccine-related. It's fluoride-related, but deserves a spot here)
http://www.stuff.co.nz/timaru-herald/news/3753078/Aquatic-Ce...
Aquatic Centre discussions take turn
Timaru Mayor Janie Annear has knocked back an offer of health board sponsorship for the new Aquatic Centre – in return for putting fluoride in the water supply.
A discussion about whether the South Canterbury District Health Board (SCDHB) should sponsor the Timaru District Council's new $23.5 million Aquatic Centre to the tune of $25,000 annually, took an interesting turn at a meeting yesterday when board member Fiona Pimm suggested fluoride become part of the equation.
The SCDHB was investigating the option of contributing $25,000 annually in return for access to subsidised swimming for patients and staff.
"At the very least the pool should be fluoridated because the kids take in mouthfuls there," Ms Pimm said.

Some parents putting off getting children vaccinated
http://www.todaysthv.com/news/health/story.aspx?storyid=1052...
Many parents are spacing out their children's vaccines; worried that too many at once can be harmful. For some babies, in the first 6 months, there are about 9 injections plus 3 oral vaccines.
So, some parents are delaying the vaccinations, concerned the medicines intended to protect from diseases, may harm brain development.
Now, a new study shows there's no reason to worry.
"In fact, receiving the immunizations probably has the opposite effect. It probably helps your development," said Dr. Kenneth Gottesman, a Pediatrician.
The study looked at when more than 1000 children received vaccines. Researchers tested them several years later and found those who received timely shots fared better on tests for language, memory and intellect.

Students Have An Allergic Reaction To H1N1 Vaccination
http://www.wcbi.com/article.php?start_from=&ucat=0&subaction...
According to The Mississippi State Department of Health two students at Caledonia High had an allergic reaction after receiving the H1N1 vaccination.
Six others developed shortness of breath but not the classic allergic reaction symptoms. All were taken to Baptist Golden Triangle and have been released.
"It's just an unfortunate situation that we made an attempt to provide a service to benefit children, and sometimes with the best laid plans you have problems and there was an issue today," says Lowndes County Schools Superintendent Mike Halford.
"When you've got a bunch of kids and they're all together getting shots and getting nervous about seeing the one in front of them get a shot, and then somebody starts saying I feel bad and they start thinking, well I feel bad too," says Mississippi State Department of Health District 4 (interim) & 6 Health Officer Dr. Rebecca James.
Hundreds of vaccinations came from the same batch that were given to Columbus and Lowndes County students and the Department of Health doesn't believe it is a bad batch of vaccinations.
"With three cases of hives out of 10,000 doses given is a very mild reaction rate," says James.
Vaccinations were suspended at Caledonia but continued at New Hope. Columbus Schools didn't report any health problems with any students.
Meanwhile, health officials say allergic reactions aren't unusual and they continue to encourage the vaccination.

Tumor, Not Vaccine, Likely Killed Girl
(Oct. 1) - A British coroner says a girl who died after receiving a vaccine against cervical cancer was likely killed by a tumor.
Natalie Morton collapsed Monday about two hours after being given Cervarix, a vaccine which protects against two viruses that can cause cervical cancer.
Deputy coroner Louise Hunt said Thursday at an inquest into the teenager's death "it appears that Natalie died from a tumor in her chest involving her heart and her lungs."

Posted: 5:09 PM- Texas authorities have asked foster care providers to immunize every FLDS child - despite some parents' concerns about possible negative effects.
The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services sent letters to 16 group homes and shelters this week asking them to line up shots for the children.
"It appears to be a totally unimmunized population," said Patrick Crimmins, department spokesman. "We're the legal parents of the children and we would like for them to be immunized."

The Bush administration is poised to select one or more drug companies to manufacture millions of doses of smallpox vaccine to protect Americans from a potential reintroduction of the dreaded disease. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said in an interview Tuesday that a contract could be announced as early as today to produce vaccine that adds to the current supply of 15.4 million doses. Enough doses would be produced "to have every man, woman and child, 288 million, with their name on it."

Inhibitory effect of breast milk on infectivity of live oral rotavirus vaccines
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20442687
Abstract
BACKGROUND:
Live oral rotavirus vaccines have been less immunogenic and efficacious among children in poor developing countries compared with middle income and industrialized countries for reasons that are not yet completely understood. We assessed whether the neutralizing activity of breast milk could lower the titer of vaccine virus and explain this difference in vitro.
INTERPRETATION:
The lower immunogenicity and efficacy of rotavirus vaccines in poor developing countries could be explained, in part, by higher titers of IgA and neutralizing activity in breast milk consumed by their infants at the time of immunization that could effectively reduce the potency of the vaccine. Strategies to overcome this negative effect, such as delaying breast-feeding at the time of immunization, should be evaluated.

New Vaccine May Cause Side Effects; Benefits Outweigh Risks
http://www.wsaz.com/news/headlines/Changes_to_School_Shot_Re...
(see video at link also)
A local family had a scary brush with one of the shots and just wants others to be aware.
This is a cautionary tale. It's from a mother who recognizes the importance of getting her children vaccinated. But that didn't erase the fright when she watched her son have a strong reaction to the meningitis vaccine.
“He slumped over and his arms started shaking and his eyes got real big,” Wendy Terry said.
That’s what Terry witnessed when her son, a Huntington High School junior, got the meningitis vaccine.
“It scared us to death," she said. "Oh my gosh, I thought he was going to die."
But, as fast as it all happened, it was over. Her son quickly recovered.
“Passing out can come as a result of any shot. A seizure can also result, but it's not serious,” Dr. Harry Tweel with the Cabell-Huntington Health Department said.
Tweel stresses, though, that this is certainly a case where the benefits outweigh the risks....
“The only way to opt out at this point is to home school,” Dr. Tweel said. ( WELCOME TO WEST VIRGINIA )
“I would do it again because I think it far outweighs getting the virus. I mean a kid could die from it,” Moore said.
She has three sons that had to get the shots, including one who had to get it after watching his brother's serious reaction. But, she said she made sure he got it anyway...

Medical Mysteries: It wasn’t the vaccine — so why did baby have seizures?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/medica......
Excerpts:
The couple’s third child, 6-month-old Michaela, had just suffered a serious seizure and was at a nearby hospital. As Cossolotto raced to be with the baby, she immediately remembered that Michaela had been running a fever after receiving a vaccine against diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT) three days earlier. “I thought the shot must have something to do with it,” Cossolotto recalled.
In many cases Dravet emerges when a baby runs a fever, which can occur after receiving an immunization. But, notes Wirrell, chief of pediatric epilepsy at Mayo, “it’s absolutely not the immunization causing Dravet” but rather the fever that causes the existing disorder to surface.

As more parents opt their kids out of vaccinations, Florida measles cases increase

(Excerpt):
Given all the debate, the Catholic Diocese of St. Petersburg has recently clarified the church's position. In a letter to pastors and parochial school principals, Bishop Robert Lynch said the church does not teach that using vaccines is "intrinsically evil," even if the vaccine was produced with controversial stem cell lines (ABORTED FETAL TISSUE). So Catholic schools shouldn't grant vaccine exemptions on religious grounds.

Should Participation in Vaccine Clinical Trials be Mandated?
http://virtualmentor.ama-assn.org/2012/01/pfor1-1201.html
(Excerpts):
If progression of promising vaccines from the lab to the clinic is to remain unaffected and financial inducement is an ethically unacceptable solution to the recruitment shortage, other strategies need to be considered. Compulsory involvement in vaccine studies is one alternative solution that is not as outlandish as it might seem on first consideration.
As ever, then, the debate boils down to a consideration of the “greater good” or the “lesser evil.” A key consideration is the risk benefit ratio—risk to the individual volunteer balanced against the benefit to society. Society is unlikely to accept compulsory recruitment to a trial for a vaccine against the common cold if the vaccine causes severe complications in vaccinees. Increase the severity of the disease in question, however, and compulsory recruitment becomes a more palatable option.

Vaccine-Induced Tumors In Cats
http://www.theledger.com/article/20120218/COLUMNISTS/202185001
(Excerpts): The notion that a vaccine can cause a type of tumor is scary for cat owners. However, over the past 10 to 20 years, there has been a lot of effort by the veterinary community to decrease this risk. Special task forces have been developed to determine the best location to vaccinate your cat, how often to vaccinate, and the safest vaccine.
You may have noticed that your veterinarian used to vaccinate your cat between the shoulder blades and now they do it on a leg or on the tail. This practice was developed to make it easier to treat a tumor if it occurred.
Vaccine-associated sarcomas can develop over weeks to years after a vaccine is administered. These tumors are thought to occur from inflammation incited by the vaccine that causes these cells to divide. The best results for tumor control occur when aggressive surgery and radiation therapy are combined. Cats that undergo this type of treatment can be tumor-free for approximately two years.
The risk of developing a tumor from a vaccine may be much less than your cat catching a deadly virus that could have been prevented with a vaccine.

Whooping Cough Is In The Triad (North Carolina)
http://www.digtriad.com/news/article/216176/57/What-You-Need...
Thursday, the Alamance County Health Department said they now have 82 confirmed cases. The Health Department also said all of those cases had previously received the pertussis vaccine.
The vaccination for whooping cough, also known as pertussis, has changed. Back in 1991, doctors reformulated the vaccine because some children were having severe reactions to the original vaccine.
Children were breaking out with fevers and even having seizures or convulsions. As a result, doctors cleaned up the vaccine to try to and get rid of those side effects.
"What we're finding is that this vaccine is safer. But, the downside is that it's not producing antibodies that are as protective as the old, cellular pertussis vaccine. The answer to everyone is...look, you still get the vaccine," Guilford County Health Department Medical Director Ward Robinson said.
Right now, medical experts are looking at ways to address this issue. One option could involve simply recommending people get a booster shot to make sure the vaccine keeps working.
Ward added, "There's a constant, on-going, thought process and surveillance that goes into what's the safest vaccine, what's needed in a geographic area."
Bottom line -- local health departments stress vaccines are important. The Guilford County Health Department tells News 2 each person who gets vaccinated essentially helps build a wall around the community. The stronger the wall, the less likely infection will be able to break through.

A recurring vaccine error puts infants at risk
http://www.philly.com/philly/health/A-recurring-vaccine-erro...
With hundreds of reports of young children consistently getting the wrong form of a certain vaccine, leaving them vulnerable to the disease, you would think that industry and regulators would gather national experts, take the time to thoroughly examine the problem, and implement prevention measures. But not so for a problem that’s been known about for at least 6 years – a mix-up between the pediatric and adult forms of whooping cough vaccine.
An infant/child who gets Tdap would need to be revaccinated. That is, if the error is recognized. Some are not and the child remains unprotected.
"Children who aren’t vaccinated at all present a much bigger problem, by far, than vaccine errors."

Department defends indemnity deal with producers of swine flu vaccine - The Irish Times
http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2012/0420/122431...
(Excerpt): At a press conference yesterday, the department’s chief medical officer Dr Tony Holohan said he regretted the fact that some young people had developed a disorder associated with the vaccine.
However, he said the decision to push ahead with a mass vaccination campaign as the “right decision at the time..."
Dr Holohan said the Government, along with other jurisdictions, had no option but to sign an indemnity deal in order to get access to sufficient quantities of the vaccine. He said the Health Service Executive and other State agencies were working to meet the needs of children.
