Russert predicts Ron Paul 4th in Iowa
Submitted by NCMarc on Wed, 01/02/2008 - 08:08
On Morning Joe at 8:05am, Tim Russert says he thinks Ron Paul will pull off a 4th place finish in Iowa.
I guess ol' Timmy got a little Ron Paulized on Meet the Press. He thinks Ron Paul can pull off a 4th place finish and he says Rudy will likely be 6th if that happens. Most of the people thought that would be amazing.
It's good for the lower expectations, if he does even better, it will be major news. Major. So let's keep this in perspective. 3rd or better is earth shattering news!

We need people to be more positive
I think people all over are waking up to the message.... remember polling doesn't count... they don't even include Dr. Paul's name in the polling questions.... so he will be first... if we are able to overcome the voter fraud problems... and I think we even have that covered guys...with the watch the vote '08....so be more positive please, unless you're just a troll trying to bring the mood down!
NONE BUT PAUL!
2nd.
Huckabee 1st.
Paul 2nd.
Romney 3rd.
Thompson 4th.
McCain 5th.
Rudy 6th.
Hunter 7th.
lol
Who would Jesus bomb?
The Huckster is done. D-U-N, done.
Doubt a 1st place finish for Huckabee
His campaign has made some serious blunders over the past couple weeks that have alienated a lot of potential supporters. Iowans don't like negative ads, so his stunt earlier this week will not sit well with them.
I personally think that Romney has a better chance of winning Iowa than Huckabee. Ron Paul has a very strong chance at third place, but it would not surprise me too much if he won the whole thing.
Ron is going to be 1ST
sorry guys but I need to be realistic!

does anyone have the video
link?
I'm pretty realistic
And I think 3rd is the most likely outcome based actually on the polls and the under sampling of our base.
I wrote a long post on this, but only 35% of the people who actually vote for Paul in the caucus would have to be outside of the poll sample to get 3rd.
That number assumes that the poll sample is valid for all the other contenders. I don't see 35% as too high a number for us. If McCain is under sampled also, then it will be harder, but I am not sure that he is.
1st would be amazing, and everyone would wake up. But it could be to our disadvantage. I'm sure much of the republican base would hear and come running. This could be bad as the deadlines to switch parties have passed for many states. I think we draw heavily on independents.
2nd would be maybe the best outcome. Not so much that all the people who hate Paul's message would galvanize, but enough to get everyone talking.
3rd is like this also, though even less scary to the bulk neocon. So really 3rd is good enough that we will get major attention. It is way more than anyone in the media expects.
Fourth? Ron Paul looks like THIRD in Iowa
The Des Moines register's poll says Ron Paul is at 9%
McCain is 13%
Thompson is 9%
Giuliani is 5%
So we know just through the fallacy of how polls are conducted that Ron Paul will easily beat Giuliani and Thompson. That's newsworthy alone.
However, I also believe that a 4 point spread is easily doable for Ron Paul against McCain.
He who counts the votes, decides who wins.
With the Israeli Defense department counting the votes from Iowa, I don't think so.
It better we focus on what we CAN do....http://www.dailypaul.com/node/19547
that
That thing about the phone polling entry being owned by the Israeli defense firm continues to make me sick. I've never even understood the anti-semitic tones that I see freaks type on the internet, but realistically Israel should try to do everything they can to keep Ron Paul from winning this election. He's the single biggest threat to their meal ticket.

4th and I'm Dancing in the streets
To come from "not legitimate" and "a joke" to 4th in IA, with no OM coverage!, would be a blow them away event. And I'll be dancing to my happy song all morning!!
Get out the Ron Paul Vote Get them to the polling places. Iowans wave the signs at the polling places. Be there and be loving.
3rd ;place and I'm weeping 'cause I can't contain my feelings for the...

I predict Ron Paul will
have more supporters than all of them combined and will win Iowa by a landslide. Men will fall dead from heart attacks women will run screaming and crying from the buildings. The Ron Paul supporter will all come walking out of the buildings wearing there sunglasses and Ron Paul gear looking cool. LOL! I wish I lived in Iowa. I would quite my job to vote.
flim flam huckster
russert now akin to & knows the placing for the Iowa election fix..

I agree with you. 4th place
I agree with you. 4th place moves dr. paul up one notch since the the Iowa straw poll, but it's not very good... and probably won't be good enough to stay in the debates (according to the MSM). That's probably why Russert was smiling....
I wouldn't be surprised if:
Huckabee supporters will want to merge with Romney's team or visa versa so that they can have a 'definite' 1st place. I think we may see a Romney/Huckabee glom if it seems that the Ron Paul supporters are overwhelming the caucuses and may come in 1st.
just get ready, If he is a strong third
The old media and the republican establishment will come after him with every thing they've got. It will make Russerts interview look like John Stossel's interview.
TIme to start planning how to handle this onslaught.
Please tell me what they can
Please tell me what they can say that they already have not.
The best they have done is try to claim the things they claimed about his supporters not Dr. Paul himself.
There is no dirt on Dr. Paul so let them come at him for i welcome that type of fight any day.

McCain Voters will Caucus for Huckabee
At least 10 to 20 percent of them will. McCain needs Huckabee to win and it’s too close for them not to help him. That brings McCain down to about 11 to 12 %. I’d place Ron’s minimum vote total at about 15% (the top is maybe 21 to 22%). I think the media is pumping McCain today to try and push his numbers above Ron’s for 3rd, but behind the scenes McCain has almost no organization in Iowa. There is some evidence that the online organization of Ron’s is better than most commentators and pollsters are willing to admit.
I would not be shocked if commentators get all over themselves tomorrow night reporting that Ron’s entrance polls are nearing 20% (everyone wants to break the story). And you can rest assured that Ron probably will exceed his entrance poll position.
El Dorado
"What" McCain supporters...lol?!
:-)
Third would be just fine...
... that's progress from the straw poll last summer. Don't give the press a reason to say that Paul came in a disappointingly 3rd as his supporters were hoping for a first place. Third in Iowa with all those misguided evangelicals like Gary Bauer who endorses CFReddie, would be the perfect play. Second in New Hampshire and first in Nevada. Suddenly, Ron Paul is a serious candidate and the news media will flock to him. A few more first and second places and we have a serious contest going. The GOP candidates will fight among each other about who should drop out. So far, so good. Momentum is on Ron Paul's side. He has not yet peaked.

Why would he place high in Iowa?
I'm genuinely curious as to the reasons people are saying Ron will place high in Iowa... All I ever hear (due to MSM bias etc) is how great Huckabee is doing. Don't get me wrong, I would love to think Ron could pull 1st or 2nd I'm just looking for some more info. From what I've seen, heard and read, Iowa seems like somewhat of a black box when it comes to Paul support. There's a ton of rumbling in NH.. where's all the Iowan supporters!?
Their basic premise is flawed
They are judging Paul's popularity, based on the opinions of a group of some of his staunchest foes.
Many big polls use voters from the 2004 GOP Primaries but there was no election that year. George Bush ran unopposed. Anyone who bothered to vote was just making a Pro Bush, Pro War statement. These people don't like Ron Paul. I prefer to look at the entire online population and not just a sample and Ron Paul's website gets more visits than any other candidate in Iowa. This is even more impressive when you consider the competition that www.ronpaul2008.com faces from the multitude of grassroots Ron Paul websites, such as DailyPaul.com

yes, but the problem is he
yes, but the problem is he gets very little donations from Iowa, but a ton from New Hampshire, so if donations are any indication he could be in trouble. I'll let you know on Friday.
i agree with you.
hoping for third, wishing for higher but just dont see it.

Almost everyone is undecided
The GOP in general is in disarray, it has been for years.
How do you think the liberal "Religious Right" got Bush in the white house?
The only question is, are there more Ron Paul supporters than Huckabee supporters?
Romney can't bus people in on his own money and pay them for this one, can he?
Consider the source
Russert is a Hillary shill. We must be doing VERY well as 4th place is a drastic underestimation by a desperate man.
I am expecting 1st or 2nd place for RP in Iowa, I think the RP people in Iowa can convert some Thompson people their way. I also think that they are so dedicated that they will never leave RP's side for another (as many were former Democrats).
I think the strong sells for Ron Paul would be the war/draft, and immigration.
But who really knows, it's just opinion. What could really be the big seller could be something like letting the states allow Hemp farming, which would be a big boost for farmers in Iowa.
Timmy knows his boy supports Dr. Paul
And I agree.... Let them expect 4th.. and we will pull a VERY STRONG 3rd... just a couple points from second!!!!
If Russert is right, then Fox is excluding the wrong candidate.
It will be interesting to see how all this shakes out. Will Fox be left standing with egg on their face?
One can only "Hope."
Tell fox to go eat a bag of apples
I think the good Doctor should tell fox to forget about it! He does well in Iowa and then should have his own [hopefully televised] rally right next door to fox's forum. Run ads in New Hampshire "What is Fox afraid of"?
I'd like to pull at least
I'd like to pull at least 2nd or 3rd.
Wouldn't that just wipe the smile off Romney's face. (I'm loosing to who?!)
