Wall Street Journal A1: An Epochal Battle
In spite of the fact that this page A1 article in today's Wall Street Journal gives only one sentence to Ron Paul, it is entirely about the conditions that have led to Dr. Paul's amazing popularity and success on the internet. Here are a few snips:
Now the stage is set for an ideological rethinking in both parties. "The mood for change is more than one of small incremental adjustments," write Republican pollster Bill McInturff and Democrat Peter Hart, who conduct the Journal/NBC News poll. "It is concern for the next generation as well as widespread unhappiness with both President Bush and the Congress."
and:
Americans are unhappy with the Iraq war, though their displeasure is subsiding as the situation improves on the ground. Perhaps more surprisingly, they are displaying ample doubts about international trade and economic globalization, both of which Americans were more likely to consider good for the nation in years past. That suggests some voters are at least flirting with protectionism.
finally, what should give us all hope - these paragraphs:
Elections that really turn the country in a new direction are rare, coming only once in a generation or so. The 1894 election, which saw enormous Republican gains, was one. It set up William McKinley's 1896 presidential victory and marked the beginning of the Progressive Era and a generation of Republican dominance. Franklin Roosevelt's 1932 victory ushered in a generation of Democratic rule and New Deal and Great Society thinking.
Ronald Reagan's win in 1980, accompanied by a stunning Republican pickup of 12 seats in the Senate to give the party control there, was another game-changer. The 1980 results showed, though, how difficult such tides are to predict. Almost no one foresaw the size of the Reagan win or the accompanying Senate takeover. Until the end, many Democrats and pundits thought Reagan too conservative for the country that was about to elect him in a landslide.
There you have it. The whole story is worth the read, imo.

Save the economy by decalring way on spending -#1 campaign theme
The economy and spending are the true main campaign themes. Listen to Paul on the war, on healthcare, on immigration, on taxes, on almost anything and the underlying theme is economics.
The other candidates cannot touch him on this.
People relate when it hits their wallets
His voting record is immaculate
MSM is already talking about this - look at the beck utube video. Dobbs...

INTERESTING THOUGHT
Ron is polling at around 9% with a 3.3 margin of error from documented caucus voters in IA. I bet the 3.3 will favor us and bump him up to 12%, and then there is the 15% of independent voters not factored as a possible RP vote. Which we all know that the Independent runner has shown support for RP. This could be very interesting!

Protectionism
"That suggests some voters are at least flirting with protectionism." It's too bad this author is trying to insinuate that we are making a move towards protectionism. Ron Paul is all about free trade, not managed trade like we see with NAFTA. We should just let whoever wants to buy products/parts buy them from whoever they decide to phone up or write an email to. Same for selling. No need for the government to step in between that transaction.

It's the Economy Stupid!
Dr. Paul is the only one of the candidates who gets it. I wonder if they even read latest corporate owned economic news:
Treasury prices rallied, as investors sought safety in the comparatively safer haven of government debt, lowering the yield on the 10-year note to 3.94 percent from 4.03 percent late Monday. Treasury prices and yields move in opposite directions.
In currency trading, the dollar slipped versus the euro and the yen.
U.S. light crude oil for February delivery surged near $98 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
COMEX gold for February delivery rose $12.60 to $850.60 an ounce, a 28-year high.

American "philosophical adriftness"
Confronted by a largely unaccountable government, confused by socialism, corporate State capitalism, and the widespread belief in democracy--the problem is in electing the "right people" to office, not the powers exercised by the office itself--there IS a great deal of political confusion in our society!
This is why the Ron Paul movement is so desperately needed. Our fellow Americans need us desperately to show as many people as possible, through as many channels and media as possible, how liberty, private property and self-responsiblity are the answer. Only we can offer something better! Fortunately, more and more people, both in our country and around the world, are starting to listen.
Supporting libertarian, Constitutionalist, and "paleoconservative" websites, journals, and foundations is one very good way of doing this, provided it is emphasized that your support is COMPLETELY INDEPENDENT of the Ron Paul nomination campaign and website.
Working with "third parties" for a Congress (and State legislatures) which President Paul can work with effectively is another. There are two excellent political organizations, the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party, who will welcome your support, and whose membership will be very receptive to Dr. Paul's message of freedom,
There are a small number of fellow Congressmen who are fighting to retain their seats because of their support for our hero, especially in regard to the Iraq war, the "war-on-terror", and the so-called Patriot act. They need our support now more than ever!
Enabling these brave and patriotic Republican Congressmen to retain their seats against neocon opposition can only help the Ron Paul Revolution. They might even provide the nucleus for a future "liberty caucus" which can be expanded into the Senate and the senior Civil service as needed!
This is only the briefest overview of suggestions to help our fellow Americans out of their philosophical adriftness. I am sure the future successes of our movement, and of Ron Paul's campaign, will offer many others.
PEACE AND FREEDOM!!

Dr. Paul and the Revolution
This is good news for Dr. Paul but even better news for the Revolution!! This movement is alive and taking the country by storm. We need to elect Ron Paul to the Presidency but then we need to elect as many other like minded people to the House and Senate as we possibly can. I can't wait for Paul to shred all the un-Constitutional executive orders of the last decade or more and to veto everything that isn't in the Constitution but that is all he can do without supporters in the Legislative branch of government. He can't even put Judges that understand and respect freedom in the Judicial branch of government without enough Senators to confirm his choices. We need an entire rEVOLolution here and we need it now!!

America is philosophically adrift
This is what drives me completely mad: Most Americans will happily support an illegal, unconstitutional, immoral war as long as we're winning.
NEWS COVERAGE???
Have you noticed how quiet everything is right now. Not many mentions of the deaths in Iraq lately.

the media tells them we are winning right before another election.
And as long as it isn't

The markets show who's right
As we speak, now at the eve of the primaries, gold has today rissen 3%, the dollar is sliding and oil have just traded at $98.50.
These are hard evidence for the failures of both the spending/printing of money, and of the "secure our oil" foreign policy. The two topics on which Ron Paul has written books...
The Dollar
I think you are missing the big picture, all those commodities are sold worldwide and we have to compete with everyone for them. What really happened this morning is that the US Dollar fell off a cliff. The dollar index is down 0.60 as I write this and that bodes bad for the US. I don't care what the babbling heads in DC say about making dollars and spending dollars so it is all relevant. First oil, gold, silver, etc. come from abroad for the most part. But most importantly, thanks to Bush/Clinton/Bush we don't make ANYTHING in this country so we have to import it and it takes more and more of our ever decreasing dollars to buy the same amount of goods. And the line: We'll make it up on exports is a crock of $h|t!! We are doomed and so is our federal reserve notes unless we get someone in the Whitehouse that understands that. That is why we so desperately need a doctor in the house. Any suggestions?

So true on all counts. It's frustrating to see the apathy in my peers. This sh!t matters. People need to open their eyes.
