Fox Boycott Working?? Murdoch loses $1,000,000,000 Today!
Submitted by takeaction on Wed, 01/02/2008 - 12:08
Well good old Rupert Murdoch the owner of Fox News has lost nearly a billion dollars just today. The headline story on stock qoute is about Fox cutting candidates.
I wonder if this is just because the stock market going down in general, or does it have to do with the hell we have raised?

DEBUNKING FOX REASONS FOR EXCLUSION
Here are the reasons it is said that Ron Paul has not been invited to the Fox News debate and our debunking of those claims.
Not Polling Double Digits Nationally
There were four democratic candidates polling in the double digits nationally at this same point in time in 2004 according to NBC News. Those candidates were: Howard Dean, Wesley Clark, Joe Lieberman, and Dick Gephardt.
The two candidates with the most delegates to the Democratic convention were John Kerry and John Edwards -- neither of which received double digits.
NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll
Mid-date: 1/11/2004
Howard Dean 24%
Wesley Clark 19%
Joe Lieberman 12%
Dick Gephardt 11%
John Kerry 7%
John Edwards 5%
Al Sharpton 5%
Carol Moseley Braun 3%
Dennis Kucinich 2%
Unsure 9%
Other 1%
None of these 3%
Eliminating Ron Paul would be foolish under historical precedent when you consider the fact that Ron Paul has been polling just about as well as John Edwards and John Kerry were in 2004

When a stock goes DOWN it is like putting it on SALE
So those who have the wherewithal to BUY have just got themselves a sweet deal.
More likely Rupert is currently shorting his own stock and will wait for it to "bottom out a bit further" and then will buy enough to not only cover his shorts, but a whole S-load more.
When a stock is dropping, sell short, otherwise Buy low, Sell high.
Make the stock price drop is just helping RM make more money and probably gain a slightly larger % ownership of his company.
The way to "hurt" a company is to make it LOSE CUSTOMERS -- and in the case of Fox, that means telling Advertisers that you'll be buying from companies that advertise elsewhere, and that you will be specifically avoiding companies that you learn advertise on Fox.
Actually
If the stock goes down enough it will allow Murdoch to buy ALL of the stock, ie. make NWS private. He could then run the company without any nagging investors/board of directors to worry about.

If it went down THAT far... someone else could also step in
a buy a huge chunk of the company, getting themselves a neat spot on the board of newscorp!
Poor analysis
No one gains or loses on a stock until they sell it...The market is down today over 200 points..Since I doubt Murdock will sell NWS today any lose or gain is purely a Paper one..In the end we will have no effect on this stock..You can't analize a stock by watching it for a few hours, days, or even weeks..
Well..
You can lose on a stock before you sell it if the company goes out of business, or if you are options trading. And yes it is technically a paper loss or gain at the time, but the money people put into a stock is tied up in that asset. This is important because if the stock is not making money, then it is losing money because it could be better invested in a different stock. This would prompt some people to sell out of the stock.
As far as being able to analyze a stock on hours, days or weeks, it is certainly possible to do so. It depends what kinda of trading you are into. If your a fundamentals trader then these short term time periods mean very little. However if you are a day trader or a swing trader, the hourly and daily stock movement is essential to that type of strategy.
Bonk
Just bump. Sorry, can't help it. I'm having a blast with this one. hek hek.

Compare Fox with the stock market
This graph compares Fox News stock (NWS) with the S&P 500. The whole market is down. Oil futures hit $100 today. Gold Ameros anyone?

My theory on monday
Remember monday when the stock stayed about even. There was no change, even though we called for a boycott/sell off.
Well MAYBE the stock would have gone up if not for us. Maybe we cancelled out a gain, which is the same thing as a loss. Of course this is all just optomistic guessing on my part ;)
It's almost 3 billion in value lost since the announcement
and over a billion shares traded so far today.
I see 2.5 million shares
I see 2.5 million shares traded today? What market are you watching?
Boycotting Fox isn't gong to change anything
Murdoch has money beyond imagination. A man like him has sense enough not to put all his money in one investment. If NWS goes to zero, he'll still be wealthy beyond our imaginations. His Media empire is not about making money, its about directing the world in the direction he wants it to go. You can boycott all you want. The only effective way to hit him is to stop watching/reading his media, and get others to follow you.
Remember, it is NOT about money when you talking about the elite, its about power.
